Director’s Note Another great season! Our tenth season welcomes you with a fantastic event schedule. The season kicks off with an outdoor concert: 7 Bridges Road, the legendary Eagles cover band, will provide the entertainment in the outdoor amphitheater, and a variety of food trucks will offer refreshment. Our annual dinner and dancing event in April, featuring live music by swing sensation Danny Bacher, will warm up with a swing dance lesson by a veteran ballroom instructor. Then we’ll saunter upstairs for a scrumptious buffet dinner, and when the dance door opens, Danny and his band will keep you hopping all night! We’re mixing it up in all kinds of ways during this season’s lineup. Familiar favorites such as Little Mermaid, wonderfully retold, and a Cabaret by The Gilbert Players, share the spotlight with sophisticated harmonies from soul to funk by M-Pact. Returning acts such as The Second City—that famous improv comedy club from Chicago—and Svetlana and the Delancy Five—known for a hot jazz sound tempered with tenderness, warmth, soulfulness, and vulnerability—will share the season with several newcomers to The Center. The Rodney Marsalis Philadelphia Big Brass will present a stunning range of musical offerings from solo trumpet, to brass quintet, to the full ten-piece ensemble with percussion. Jazz, Blues & Two Tattoos will take us to the streets of New Orleans, and Lightwire Theater will be back to celebrate the holiday season with A Very Electric Christmas in LED light on the dark stage. Bubble Trouble will bring us an opportunity to laugh and learn through children’s play. Our own Eagle Hill productions will present Our Town and the musical Les Misérables. The season ends with another outdoor concert. Starting in October, Art Tea return. The popular artist series is joined by three additional weekly Wednesday events to form Arts in the Box each month from October to May. This community arts series meets in our black-box Kresge Theater and will feature Baristas with Brushes, a “sip and paint” style workshop for teens; Cinema @ the Center, which will take you back with a lineup of 1980s movies; and a rousing discussion of great literature at In the Round will finish each month. Arts in the Box also welcomes you with Sip ’n’ Draw for adults in January, February, and March of 2018. We hope you’ll return for the classics you’ve come to love or try something new this year. Linda Spelko and Juliet Bacchas Linda Spelko And Juliet Bacchas met at another pottery studio 15years ago. When we met we both had the same dream of having our own studio, today, together we own the Juliet Rose Gallery & Studio in Monson, Ma. For 13 years we have taught classes and workshops from our Monson studio as well as other studios. Part of our joy is to share our knowledge and love of clay with others in our classes and workshops. We have enjoyed traveling and doing art shows through out the New England states as well as, at least 3 shows per year at our studio. We thoroughly enjoy working in clay, the feel of the clay, the smell, it is a most beautiful medium to work with. Everyday it is a blessing to create wonderfully unique, original, handmade, and one of a kind pottery and sculptures that bring joy to others. Linda studied pottery at Palmer High School, home schooled her four daughters and then 13 years ago she returned to her love of clay. Her work is greatly inspired by nature and the Asian sense of lines and form. She has also drawn inspiration from the beautiful Jamaican landscape. Linda works predominantly on the potters wheel. Juliet studied at the Edna Manley College of Visual and Performing Arts. Her work is strongly influenced by nature and the culture and people of her birth Island (Jamaica). Juliet works with a hand building technique call African Coiling. African Coiling is originated in West Africa, which is thousands of years in tradition. We thoroughly enjoy working together and sometimes we have the pleasure of collaborating on a project such as the Carved Globes. Some of our Globes are wheel thrown and some are African coiled. All of them are hand carved and hand cut negative spaces.

Marina Allen In Marina’s work she recognizes themes regarding systems, rules, and notation. She’s interested in forms motivated by choice to arrive at chance 'moments'. Marina finds herself beginning a composition striving for simplicity and order only to end with what behaves like the opposite. In these selected works, she is attempting, without using irony, to subvert the idea that art has value if it reads as 'serious'. She sees her process reflecting a stronger need to articulate and organize thought, a movement toward clarity and articulation. Marina is inspired by Yoko Ono's instructional paintings, John Cage's relationship to music and visual art, Kandinsky, Judy Ledgerwood, Allison Miller, Jenny Holzer, Mary Heilmann, Agnes Martin, Claude Viallat, and Serge Jensen. Our first fabulous tribute show will be performing in the Outdoor Amphitheater and will make for a delightful Saturday afternoon treat. 7 Bridges Road, a spot-on re-creation of the original EAGLES, made up of six singers and instrumentalists, is a unique tribute act. Unlike some groups, they don’t play the individual members of the Eagles; instead, they perform the music as it was meant to be performed; with passion, expertise, and a lot of attention to detail. The result is an astoundingly great sounding show, re-creating the vocal harmonies and instrumental arrangements that comprise the Eagles’ body of work. They been have haled “Truly a Masterpiece”. There will be cash bar and food truck vendors placed on the premise to supply you with a variety of food and refreshments for your enjoyment.

Gary Negbaur’s ankles bear the symbols of New Orleans and New York. He keeps a foot in each musical world while also touring worldwide performing the music of the “20s to today. This pianist/singer has grooved at the Superdome in New Orleans, knocked them out at Birdland in NYC, and raised the roof at South by Southwest in Austin. In Paris, he brought the audience to their feet at the legendary Le Bilboquet.

One night, the handsome Prince Eric falls from his ship, and Ariel saves him from drowning. She falls in love with him. He falls in love with her voice. Desperate to be with him, she makes a deal with Ursula the Sea Witch to become human in exchange for giving up her voice but must be kissed by Prince Eric within three days. The kiss ALMOST happens, but Ursula works her magic and destroys the moment, which in the end also destroys her... leaving behind a happy ending.

Eagle Hill Productions presents Our Town by American playwright Thornton Wilder. This story has been the subject of stage play, motion picture, Broadway musical, and classical opera. It tells the story of small town Grover's Corners between 1901 and 1913 through the everyday lives of its citizens. Throughout, Wilder uses metatheatrical devices, such as setting the play in the actual theater where it is being performed. Our Town won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1938.

The Rodney Marsalis Philadelphia Big Brass is a family act and had its beginnings on the streets of New Orleans. On the advice of Ellis Marsalis, the group created a concert format that breaks the usual barriers between genres and strives to create a connection between the audience and performers. Ranging from solo trumpet, to brass quintet, to the full ten-piece ensemble with percussion, this group reflects the diverse makeup of men and women in American culture. They’ve appeared on the world's most prominent stages and performed with such groups as the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, the Baltimore Symphony, and many more, as well as debuting on National Public Radio’s "All Things Considered”d."

SALOON — A MUSICAL ADVENTURE
You will see a spectacular version of the Wild West story at Saloon. America is expanding. The railroad is snaking westward. A town comes to life, and the saloon doors swing open revealing a motley cast of characters, each with a tale to tell. In Saloon, dynamic folk music and strains of fiddle set the tone for an acrobatic comedy that sweeps up the audience in a flurry of energy. True to its origins, Cirque Éloize has created a show that is a heady mix of theatricality, humor, acrobatics, and a return to live music.

Les Misérables, presented by Eagle Hill Productions, is an epic and uplifting story about the survival of the human spirit. Jean Valjean is released from years of unjust imprisonment, but he finds nothing in store for him but mistrust and mistreatment. He breaks his parole in hopes of starting a new life, initiating a lifelong struggle for redemption as he is relentlessly pursued by police inspector Javert, who refuses to believe Valjean can change his ways. During the Paris student uprising of 1832, Javert must confront his ideals after Valjean spares his life and saves that of the student revolutionary who has captured the heart of Valjean's adopted daughter.

"A rollicking ride through the good old days of Rock & Roll": Corvettes Doo Wop Revue is dedicated to preserving and performing some of the greatest music ever made—the music of the 1950’s doo-wop era. From New Hampshire to New Orleans and Virginia to Vegas, the Corvettes perform the great music of the Doo Wop era with a fresh new energy. Their incredibly entertaining show and comical stage antics have left many a happy audience screaming for more! In the tradition of legendary doowop revivalists Sha Na Na, every Corvettes show is more than a concert--it’s an all-out Doo Wop celebration! In addition to performing their own outstanding concerts, the Corvettes tour with many legendary doo-wop groups including The Drifters, The Tokens, Danny & The Juniors, The Platters, The Marvelettes, The Shangri Las, The Shirelles, The Belmonts, Gary U.S. Bonds, The Del-Vikings, The Teenagers and many more. Some of the great hits you might expect to hear at a Corvettes Doo Wop Revue show: “Come Go With Me - Little Darlin’ - Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On - At The Hop - The Twist - Earth Angel - Sea Cruise Rock Around The Clock - In The Still Of The Night - Runaround Sue - Runaway - Palisades Park - Twistin’ The Night Away Splish Splash - Shake Rattle & Roll” and many more! There will be a cash bar and food truck vendors on the quad to supply a variety of food and refreshment for your pleasure.
