VIRGILIO RAPOSO

Virgilio Raposo was born in Lagos, Algarve in 1955. An inward looking artist, Virgilio expresses in his work not only the beauty of the world we live in, but also a serenity and infinity in the better purpose of man. Basically self-taught, his work shows a surprising quality and understanding of colour. This is even more surprising when one considers that his subject matter is usually the natural coast line of the Algarve, which, because of the strength in the actual light, is extremely hard to recapture on canvas.
