Introducing Chef Michael from "Chef Creations with a twist", happy to serve you wherever you may be. Michael provides the ultimate personal chef service whether cooked at your home or his (he delivers too)
Chef Michael greets us with a big smile, our host and personal cook is famous for his canapés. We are presented with creamy goat's cheese on crispy bruschetta, each topped with a semi sundried cherry tomato and basil pesto, next is skewered sweet peppered pork, followed by the lightest and flakiest tempura fried prawns, served with a splash of fresh lemon juice. Presentation, something I myself struggle with immensely, is picture perfect. Luckily, there is more in store for us, barbecued rack of ribs in the stickiest and most wonderfully balanced sauce follows the canapés. For our dessert, the most gorgeous decadent brownies, lightly stencilled with powdered sugar forming the shapes of cutlery. Michael, aged 40, is versatile and blends into whatever is needed in any situation. He likes to roll with what life gives him. Born in the UK, raised in South Africa from the age of 6 months, Michael developed a love for cooking and the various tastes he experienced while his parents moved from place to place around South Africa. He recalls cooking braais at the age of 11. Having been formally trained as a chef and awarded a scholarship by Compass Group, the largest contract food company in the world, Chef Michael knows the industry well. The cheffing business can be quite stressful, Chef Michael muses during our interview, after 23 years of being in the kitchen, he
explains that when it is a passion and a love, it becomes different. The compliments become the reward, replacing the drive for monetary success. His background is impressive, after working with Compass, he joined the Patak group, earning the title employee of year. He has worked for private catering companies, some of the largest and most successful in the UK such as catering company With a Twist. He has worked alongside restaurant owners to turn their businesses around to be successful, profitable and most importantly having satisfied customers, he has catered to small parties as well as up to 1200 persons. Having made his way to the Algarve, now Chef Michael wants to concentrate on quality, equality, affordability and creativity in all senses of the word, meaning also being creative when budgets are small. He offers a food delivery service to those unable, too compromised or just don’t fancy cooking for themselves, such as a client of his that has MS. He provides a balanced, tasty, fancy and professional looking lunch and dinner to her doorstep daily, with warming/heating instructions for both the oven and microwave. Other clients have requested burgers, chips and milkshakes. Unlike many services where booking a day
or two in advance is required, Chef Michael is able to provide and cater to your wishes within just a few hours. A sample of some of the comfort foods… southern fried chicken with crispy onion rings, boerewors and biltong, to Friday night fish, chips and mushy peas, or perhaps you fancy an Irish breakfast for Sunday brunch complete with black and white puddings, or maybe a healthy Thai or Chinese cuisine delivered to your door. The options are endless as are the fillings, meat, no meat, fish, sea food, vegetarian and even the infamously marginalised vegan will be found with an abundance of choice. Chef Michael shares with us that he is keen to develop his canapés and hosting at locations service. Currently able to cook for and cater from 1 to 50 persons, he will come your home or chosen location, all food prepped and ready to be cooked. After serving you and your guests he will leave your kitchen in an immaculate state, striving to have it better and tidier than before he arrived. Again, this is not a service solely for the rich and famous, it is the idea to adapt to everyone's budget and everyone's wishes.
