CURRENCY

Following on from last months introduction, here is our very own Personal Trainer Carly Richard’s next exercise tip to help keep us fit! GET FIT & STAY FIT

So after all the rushing around and getting into the swing of 2020 here we have our fitness tip for March. The hip flexor stretch This stretch should be held and enjoyed for a minimum of 10-20 seconds to get full benefit, though any more is a bonus! Let your body gently gravitate down towards the floor with every exhalation. The front knee should be over your heal and towards the edge of the mat (my right foot in the pictures) the back knee should slide back as far as comfortable to the back of the mat and to the edge. The stretch should be felt around the front of the hip, my left hip in the picture & groin area. Depending on how tight the muscles in your legs are you’ll possibly fell the stretch in the hamstrings of the opposite leg also. Always listen to your body and don’t over stretch. Stretching keeps the muscles flexible, strong, and healthy, and we need that flexibility to maintain a range of motion in the joints. Without it, the muscles shorten and become tight. Healthy muscles also help a person with balance problems to avoid falls. The right stretches can also help with sciatica problems.
