Porsche unveil their first Cross Utility Vehicle, the Tycan Cross Turismo, the “perfect complement to the existing Taycan family”

An all-electric sports car with innovative 800-volt technology for fast charging, a convincing range and impressive space: the Taycan Cross Turismo is Porsche’s first Cross Utility Vehicle (CUV) and it’s fully electric, versatile, robust – and ready for adventure. The flat front, muscularly curved wings and a roofline that slopes down towards the rear – even at first glance, the design of the new Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo bears the DNA of the iconic 911. In addition, the flat headlights with vertical air intakes clearly mark it as a member of the Taycan family. And yet the second electric sports car from Zuffenhausen is a Porsche unlike any other. As the company’s first Cross Utility Vehicle (CUV), the five-door combines classic Porsche driving dynamics with an off-road-capable high-tech chassis. “The Cross Turismo is the perfect complement to our existing Taycan family,” explains Stefan Weckbach, former head of the model range. “It is more versatile, more robust, and yet nearly as sporty as the saloon.”

A spirit of adventure in every detail of the Cross Turismo

A spirit of adventure is to be found in every detail of the Cross Turismo. Creating space for diving, golfing, surfing, or cycling equipment was high on the list of requirements. The load volume is therefore as generous as you’d expect: behind the large tailgate, the Cross Turismo holds almost 1,200 litres of luggage when the rear seatbacks are folded down. The vehicle also offers all-wheel drive, air suspension and Performance Battery Plus as standard (Taycan Cross Turismo Models: CO2 emissions combined 0 g/km (NEDC), Electricity consumption combined 29.4 – 28.1 kWh/100 km (NEDC)).

Back to School

August is over and with that our summer camp for all (SER Verão 2021) came to an end and we already miss it! This summer camp, showed once more that all children can and should be in the same place, doing the same activities regardless of race, gender, social status or disability. In this summer camp we played together, we grew up together and we developed social and emotional skills together, all of which are fundamental for harmonious development for each child. A heartfelt thanks to the readers of this magazine, who helped our summer camp with donations, so the price per week for each family could me more accessible and we were able to include more diversified sports and artistic experiences for all the participants in our summer camp. Now September is here. The beginning of school is already on our minds, especially for parents of children with special needs. Many children with special needs start feeling anxious in the beginning of September. Watching TV and all the advertisements about beginning of school and school supplies, going to the supermarket and seeing school supplies or even receiving their school books at home can cause anxiety to many children. This article is to help you as a parent to deal with this anxiety or emotional frenzy and give you a tool to use with your children. This is just a small example of how to keep your child positive. Here is a short and simple script for you to read to your child (between 6 to 9 years old) or older if you think they need more confidence. Ask your child to lie down on the sofa or bed and be comfortable. If they are comfortable and able to, ask them to close their eyes and start reading the script calmly, slowly and lovingly. Imagine you are standing at our door waiting for the car (if you are used to going to school by car. If your child is used to go by bike just change the word and use bike instead of car). It is not just any car you know, it is a very special car that is going to take you on a little journey to meet (name a hero meaningful to your child) and it is not the only reason it is a special car, but you´ll find out about that in a minute. This is a very bright, colorful car by the way, and it has got a very smiley face on the front of it, can you see it yet? Nod your head when you can, great! When it draws up to our door you can jump in and take your seat. The seat has your name, the car has a driver ´Oh hello (your child´s name), says the driver... I´ve been expecting you, there´s a special seat just for you with your name on it, because you are a very special, hold on tight and we´ll go for a ride´. Look out of the window, can you see that everything is changing color, the road, is it yellow or gold? And the pavement is the colour of your favorite candy. I told you this is a very special car, just right for a very special boy/girl like you. Can you hear there´s some music playing? I think it´s your favorite song, how amazing. Just driving along, the movement of the car seems to make you feel very comfotable and very relaxed. Notice now that the car is slowing down at the stop sign. There´s another big sign there, I can´t quite make it out, what does it say? Oh yes, it says ´All worries get out here´. Is there anyone in this car with any worries or nervous/anxious feelings? (Your child’s name) you told me you had a few worries about school starting and your difficulties in learning, can you see that big dustbin by the stop sign? Just hop off for a minute and put any old worry or nervous feelings right in the bin where it belongs, just throw it away and say goodbye to it. Notice how wonderful it feels without it, brilliant. Is there anything else you want to leave in there, any other bad feeling you don´t want? Ok put that in too and then get back in the car, oh you look great, you look lighter and brighter and altogether happier, fantastic! Look out of the window again. Can you see your super hero? He is here to meet you and help you out of the car, the car will wait for you, take your time with your super hero, shake their hand, and there´s a little bench for you to sit on right there. Did you know that once upon a time (hero´s name) used to be a bit nervous about going back to school/starting school, but they found a very special way to be very confident, and they are going to give you a present that will help you to feel just as confident as they are now. You can´t actually see it but when you hold out your hands you may feel the tingle in your fingers when you receive this amazing present. Hey, can you feel it tingling in your fingers right now? It´s the most amazing present, it´s a very special ability to feel calm and relaxed and confident whenever you do something special at school where you really want to feel that calm, confident feeling - brilliant - isn´t it wonderful? You can have this feeling whenever you want it now, whether it´s for learning new things, for spelling, writing or reading, drawing or for maths, you just have this amazing calm and confident feeling as soon as you enter the school, open a book, or pick up your pen or pencil. You just enjoy being at school and learning...wonderful. Now, reader, you can take your childs imagination into the future, imagining going to school and using all the strategies that their super hero gave to them in a form of a present. Just use your imagination and give it a try. Finish the imagination exercise saying (your child´s name) every day you will find you are more and more confident, you are very proud of the way you can do anything at school feeling calm and confident, and you just know deep down inside that you will always do your best. So, it´s time to get out of the car now and find that those sleepy dreamy feelings have been lifted right off you, and you are beginning to feel all the energy coming back into your whole body, into your toes, your feet are wanting to wriggle about, just like your hands and arms are wanting to have a big stretch and come right back to the room with me, well done (your child’s name). Try to use this kind of positive words and thoughts. Your child will feel more confident and prouder of themself. We want to achieve more social projects. Tuk Tuk around Tavira

BIRD WATCHING

A tour of the Salinas de Tavira, in the Ria Formosa. Observe the beautiful, unique bird species of these geographical wetlands on a quiet and relaxed journey.

TAVIRA CITY & CHOCOLATE TASTING

This tour begins in the Alto de São Brás area, stops in the salt pans, passes through the Convento das Bernardas, a selection of churches, the military barracks, and a visit to a chocolate atelier. Here you will see how chocolate is made by hand and includes tasting. Then we pass through the Praça da República (center) and the historic area including the Covento da Graça and the castle of Tavira. The end of this tour is at Maria’s Tuk Tuk stop, near the Roman bridge.

TAVIRA CITY & CAMARA OBSCURA

This tour through the historic area, passes by several popular landmarks and also includes a visit to some parts of the Islamic wall. Still in the historic area, we head towards the Camara Obscura site for the final part of the tour.

CITY TAPAS & WINE

Visit the city of Tavira followed by a tasting of tapas at a local restaurant. Visit the salt pans, the Atalaia area, the Convent of Bernardas, old prison various Churches, the military barracks and through the street of Liberdade and Praça da República (center). The historic area is the most important part of this tour, where we visit the Convento da Graça and stop at the Castle.

Towards the end of the tour we go to Alto de São Brás, where you will find the Capela de São Brás and the Church of Nossa Senhora do Carmo. To finish the tour, Maria’s Tuk Tuk takes you to a local Restaurant, where you will have a tapas and wine menu included.

CITY TUK & SOLAR BOAT

An ecological tour of Tavira, 100% electric Tuk Tuk and a solar powered boat with tasting of regional products. Includes a visit to Alto de São Brás, where you will find the Chapel of São Brás and the Church of Nossa Senhora do Carmo. We pass through the Atalaia area, Convent of Bernardas, various churches, and pass through the Praça da República (center). Then we visit the historic area of the city, where we will pass through the Convent of Graça, Church of Santiago, church of Santa Maria, church of Misericórdia and stop at Tavira Castle. The tour continues by solar boat. This part of the tour lasts close to a 1h30m in the Ria Formosa where you can taste some regional products.

SANTA LUZIA

Tuk Tuk Tour in Tavira and Santa Luzia. Get to know this fishing village, known as the Octopus Capital. Discover the artisanal fishing gear, octopus fishing boats and the ancient olive tree on this cultural tour. This tour leaves Tavira, enters the salt pan saline area, where the production process of Sea Salt will be explained, we then go to Santa Luzia, a fishing village known to be the octopus capital.
