TAVIRA ELECTIONS

Dinis Faĺsca, candidate for the Mayor of Tavira explains why he has decided to take on this challenge, and what he promises the residents of this City

The upcoming Tavira elections will be held on Sunday, 26 September. We believe that we are a credible alternative to the current administration. We are not running against anyone, we represent a new policy for the municipality of Tavira, which opens up new horizons for the next generations. We know and understand the power of listening to the current concerns of residents. I decided to take on the challenge of being a candidate for the mayor of Tavira City Council, seeing the need to change course. The urgency of a new vision and the contribution that can be made for a new way of being for the lives of the general population was clear. We are a responsible alternative, with ambitious and achievable goals. For this purpose, I count on a multidisciplinary team with different attributes, who are working towards the same objective: to make the municipality of Tavira an example in terms of Quality of Life. What is at stake in the upcoming elections is very simple: either we want to continue as we are or, alternatively, we choose a fresh breeze of change, implementing a different pace, quick decisions and a commitment to listening, togetherness and cooperation. With everyone, no exceptions. Our priorities cannot be out of sync with what a pandemic or post-pandemic society is. We will focus on personal well being benefitting from public spaces, the creation of better conditions in housing, education, health and safety, as well as adopting measures that allow the economic recovery of our municipality. The thousands of hectares burned in the mountainous area last August and the loss of income of countless families demand a quick response from the municipality and cooperation from government entities. We propose a reforestation plan with native species, properly ordered and easily accessible. As well as the creation of strategically distributed water points in order to quickly combat small fires that may arise. The future of our municipality of Tavira will be in the hands of all of you. With your help and trust, we want to continue together with you at our side to build a Tavira that is personal, more attentive, more participative, more sustainable and more approachable. It is intended for the municipality in Tavira to be aware of its responsibilities and the importance of leading as an example. The motto is Intelligent Investment and Sustainable Development, based on 6 structuring principles, guiding actions and measures, avoiding the isolated and casuistic character.

People first. We listen to people in designing solutions to their problems and to the problems of this territory. The priorities resulting from the consultation of the Population (Participatory Program and interaction with civil society) are generally reflected throughout our Action Programme.
