I started my working life with the ambulance service in 2002 and have been extremely fortunate in my career to have undertaken numerous roles since registering as a Paramedic in 2010. Joining EAAA and specialising my practice towards emergency and critical care was absolutely my career goal, and it has well and truly fulfilled my expectations.

Aside from the clinical aspects of the job I absolutely love the aviation element. I don’t mind admitting to being a slightly ‘scaredy’ airline passenger and regularly experience sweaty palms during take-off and turbulence. One hour community CPR and Defibrillator AWARENESS COURSE 1 hour course EAAA are committed to train as many people as possible in CPR and the use of a defibrillator so together we can save more lives. This course will give you a quick overview of the basic required skills to perform CPR and use a defibrillator and is free to community groups

1. Early access & recognition: being able to recognise someone is in cardiac arrest and getting assistance is the first step to helping them. 2. Early CPR: performing chest compressions can ensure oxygen reaches the brain until a defibrillator arrives. 3. Early defibrillation: be confident in using a defibrillator to restart the heart. For every minute the patient doesn’t have a defibrillator, their chances of survival reduce by 10%.

The EAAA First Aid Annual Half Day Refresher Course 1/2 day course HSE (Health and Safety Executive) strongly recommends that first-aiders undertake annual refresher training, over half a day, during any three-year certification period. Although not mandatory, this will help qualified first-aiders maintain their basic skills and keep up to date with any changes to first-aid procedures.

Advanced Life Support Course (For health care professionals only) All applicants must hold a professional healthcare qualification or be in training for a professional healthcare qualification.

The Resuscitation Council (UK) Advanced Life Support (ALS) course is designed for healthcare professionals who would be expected to apply the skills taught as part of their clinical duties. Appropriate participants include doctors, paramedics and nurses working in acute care areas (e.g. ED, CCU, ICU, HDU, operating theatres, acute medical admissions units) or on resuscitation /medical emergency/ ICU outreach teams.

4. Early advanced care: delivered by the critical care paramedics and/or doctors who arrive shortly after. LIFTOFF MAGAZINE | EAAA.ORG.UK
