Bull-A-Rama Supreme doesn’t disappoint! Rodeo fans pack the house to participate in the 20th annual event Michelle Pinon Editor
The 20th edition of Bull-A-Rama didn't disappoint as a sold out crowd packed into the Lamont Recreation Centre for the main event Saturday evening. The excitement was palpable as rodeo enthusiasts of all ages waited for the show to get underway just after 7 p.m. Members of the Lamont & District Agricultural Society led the way with sparklers into the ring to kick-off the celebration. Presentations were made to scholarship recipients Colby Eleniak and Alicia Koziak. The Lamont Fire Department was the lucky recipient of $2,500. Members of
the Schinkinger family received plaques on behalf of the Ag. Society in honour of Conrad Schinkinger who started the event. Master of Ceremony Wayne Schoepp introduced Bonnie Chudyk, who gave an overview of the history of the event. Thanks were extended to clown Cody Schopp, who has been with the Bull-A-Rama for the past 10 years. President Aaron Wick and Sherry Stadnick presented the cheques and certificates to the scholarship recipients. Then it was time for the introduction of the 30 cowboys and the singing of O Canada. Glow in the dark necklaces were thrown out by the cowboys before they took to the chutes.
There were only eight riders who managed to stay on top of the fiesty bulls to qualify for the short go. In the end, it was Red Deer cowboy Neal Wallator. The dance was a huge success as well as folks kicked up their heels to Kory Wlos. While there may have been a few hiccups along the way, organizers made everything work out right and on time. Ag. Society treasurer Frank Cholak said BullA-Rama was Conrad Schinkinger’s dream and passion, and he was glad members paid tribute to Schinkinger and his legacy. Now it's time for recuperation before planning gets underway once again for the 21st installment.
