The ATV rodeo was a new sight in Bruderheim as over 80 quads and riders lined up for their turn to show their stuff this past weekend. There was definitely lots for them to compete in with competitions happening both Saturday and Sunday. Jazmine Inkster Student Reporter
Bruderheim’s Smash and Bash was an overwhelming success for their premier of the annual event which was held this past weekend. According to Bruderheim Agricultural Society Member Vic Schneider, there were approximately 3,000 people who had attended over the three days. “It was huge,” added Schneider. “There was more there than for the centennial of our chuck-
wagon races” One of the main features of the event was the ATV rodeo and drag races, which featured quads from as far away as Calgary taking part in the competitions which were held Saturday and Sunday. Schneider said that because Bruderheim has around 50 acres of land that they use for their outdoor events, there was an abundance of space, that allowed for attendees to have a great time without being too crowded and crammed
in. “We’ve got enough space here, and thats the key.” “We can accommodate a huge amount of vehicles.” Another ever popular event was the demolition derby which took place on Saturday evening. It was during this time that the event saw the majority of its spectators, with all of the stands filled and overflowing.
CONT’D ON PG 8
During the weekend extravaganza, there were also about 15 different teams taking part in slowpitch tournaments throughout the weekend. The tournaments kicked off at 5 pm on Friday, and the finals concluded at 3:00 pm on Sunday.
