Lamont Mayor declares new Civic Centre open for business

Part of raising the town’s profile and open for business attitude, council will be hosting a meet and greet for residents in late April, and an official grand opening with tours of the town’s new water reservoir and public works building later in the year.

Skinner says councillors will be on hand for the meet and greet, slated for April 16th to offer information as well as listen to concerns and answer any questions residents may have. The first step to building positive relations is communication, and Skinner says council wants to provide the forum for discussion and receive feedback.

“We want to convey the overall impression that we’re open for business.” And with his business like attitude, Skinner will be one of the cogs in the wheel to get things rolling along in Lamont.

Local residents raise over $12,000 for Haying in the ‘30’s organization

St. Michael Agricultural Society hosted their sixth annual Haying in the ‘30’s fundraiser Saturday night, at the St. Michael Recreation Centre.

This event was pulled together through the efforts of many great volunteers who are residents of the St. Michael area.

There were homemade perogies, fried chicken, and sausage for supper. A group of local women gathered a few days prior to spend many hours making the delicious perogies.

The Haying in the ‘30’s Foundation was founded 25 years ago by Edgar Corbier, and was designed to assist residents in rural areas to help cover the cost of travel when they are going for cancer treatments.

Edgarís daughter, Fern Gean, were also in attendance at the event. Gean thanked everyone in attendance for their support and help throughout the community.

The evening started with a silent auction, then a banquet, then a live auction, and finally a dance. All in all the event raised $12,055.60 to contribute to the cause.

Haying in the ‘30’s has helped some of our local residents who have, or are battling cancer themselves. One local resident who has lived in St, Michael his whole life is Joe Hrycyk, as well as Two Hills resident Ed Koziak. The fund gives them $1,000 for travel to and from the treatments.

There was also a quilt donated by Rez Bowes, who is also battling the awful disease. This is the second quilt that she has made to be auctioned off at the event.

Mae Adamyk, who is one of the main organizers of the event, thanked all that attended, and for showing such compassion and generosity for such a dreadful disease.

The event was a huge success, with a sold out crowd. Without the dedication and giving nature of all the volunteers, the event would not happen, as well as with the generosity of all that attended, added Adamyk.

Around 300 people attended the Haying in the ‘30’s fundraiser at the St. Michael Recreation Centre March 24th. Just over $12,000 was raised for the non-profit organization that lends financial support to people undergoing cancer treatments throughout the province.

Lamont playschool students learn all about police work

Children at the Lamont Community Playschool were more than happy to have a visit from RCMP Cst. Martin Miville recently.

Listening intently to his advice about not talking to strangers, crossing the road properly, and bicycle safety. They also got a first hand look at some of the tools on Cst. Miville’s belt including a taser, baton, handcuffs, protective vest, ammunition and gun. But the best two tools you can have at your disposal, he pointed out, are your brain and your mouth which give you the ability to think and talk. “If you talk, you can solve all the problems of the world.”

Contary to popular belief, Cst. Miville said most of the job entails education, and conveying information to people. And since commu-

nications are one of his areas of responsibility, Cst. Miville was more than up to the task at hand.

While part of a police officer’s job is to “arrest bad guys,” Cst. Miville added that a larger part of the job is to visit schools and educate students about safety prevention.

He spoke about the necessity of wearing a safety helmut while riding their bikes. All of the three and four-year-olds raised their hands when asked if they had safety helmuts. Cst. Miville also told the children that if they didn’t wear a helmut they could be served with a $57 ticket for disobeying the law.

“That’s a lot of pennies.

Imagine that! Coming home and giving your parents a ticket...You don’t want to do that.

It’s not cool.” His last word of advice to the children on the subject, was to always wear a

helmut, and never leave their bicycles on the road.

Cst. Miville told the youngsters about the belt around his waist that weighs 30 pounds, about the equivalent to the weight of most of the three and four year olds in the audience. He showed the children his baton, and taser which delivers 50,000 volts of electricity in single jolt, and gun which has 15 bullets, and extra ammunition which has 30 bullets.

The kids then got their coats and boots to see and sit in the police cruiser which is outfitted with extensive electronic equipment. Each child got to sit in the back seat and listen to the sirens before Cst. Miville’s visit ended.

They also went home with some stickers, pencils, and more safety information. So all in all it was a productive day at the Lamont

On your mark get set...go Well, off to the races for the candidates in the upcoming provincial election.

First off the mark, at least publicly in the Fort Saskatchewan-Vegreville constituency was PC candidate Jacquie Fenske, whose campaign manager Tina Warawa was first off the mark, and making her mark Monday afternoon in Lamont as she hammered in one of the first of her campaign signs outside of the town office.

So I guess that means for intents and purposes that the town supports Fenske who is running under the PC flag. Or does it? Maybe there will be other election signs popping up there over the next couple of days or so?

The only other candidate that has made her voice and presence known in the local area is Wildrose candidate Shannon Stubbs, who has been door knocking and participating in a number of meet and greet type events over the past couple of months throughout the constituency.

As to whether the NDP or Liberals or Alberta Party will have candidates remains to be seen and heard.

I guess a call into Elections Alberta might be in order in the very near future. But for now perhaps we will ponder over some of the current issues that are likely to make it to the election platform, and any debates.

Property rights, transmission lines, power rates, health care, ambulance services, and the proposed new Education Act will surely be topics of conversations up until election day.

What are the issues and concerns nnear and dear to your hearts? Who do you feel will listento them as well as implement some of the ideas and plans you may have in regards to them?

There is a strong and rich tradition for Tory pride in the province. So will the reigning party be the party the people of Alberta want to represent them for the next three years, or perhaps another party with a different or fresh perspective?

There are several things people keep in mind before heading to the polls, including: party loyalty, party leadership, ideology, issues, and current events.

Which ever way you slice or dice it, all that will matter is which party will the greatest number of seats after election day, so make sure you count your self inthe mix.

Letter to the Editor Physicians deserve our recognition Following a review of health care in Alberta, the Health Quality Council released a report in February that has precipitated much dialogue about the current state of the provincial healthcare system and where it’s headed. Two of those town hall health-care discussions happened in Calgary and Edmonton, on March 6 and 12, respectively. However, there have been far fewer opportunities for rural communities to be engaged in not only these larger conversations, but also in the ones that pertain directly to non-metro areas.

year. After beginning operations in 1992, the RPAP has worked tirelessly with rural communities and others to attract and retain physicians, while assuring that the physicians in these outlying areas, whether early in their career or as a long-standing member of the medical community, have the skills they need to care for their patients. We work closely with resident physicians to supply rural training and support medical students to help encourage a career in rural Alberta by taking them on skills days and by providing shadowing opportunities to rural physicians.

But these supports do not happen in isolation.

Without the commitment of the physicians in nonmetro areas, and the support of the communities they serve, the RPAP could not help guide the new generation of physicians through the sometimes challenging navigational waters of becoming a rural physician.

Sports Athlete of the week Kourtney Babichuk clogs her way to gold at Kalyna Festival Kourtney Babichuk, who resides in Bruderheim, has been clogging for seven years, and has just finished competing in her fourth Kalyna Festival.

“I started taking clogging because I wanted to try dancing but didn’t enjoy the Ukrainian style of dancing. We wanted a type of dancing that I would enjoy and be reasonably priced. Clogging was one of these options.

I really enjoy Clogging and would recommend it to many,” states Kourtney Kourtney is instructed

by Linda Mills at the Lamont Recreation Centre. At the Kalyna Music Festival, Kourtney won High Gold for her performance to 'Party Rock Anthem' in the Solo 14 Year and Under Clogging category.

“Kourtney is a very committed and consistent dancer. She is very gracious and is such a team player,” states Mills. "You would never know she is as good as

she is because she is so humble about it.”

"I am amazed at the skill Kourtney has displayed, her grace and poise are fantastic," says Bruderheim Mayor Karl Hauch. "The wonderful creativity blending rock music to this style of dancing was great. I am so encouraged to see folks, especially young people from our town, with such talent. It speaks well for the future of Bruderheim."

“I love everything about clogging right from the awesome shoes to the music. I enjoy clogging because of how it works: you can have fun and laugh with friends even if you mess up. You don’t have to do things exactly as the teacher said for you to do, as long as you’re having fun, enjoying the dancing and following the cues... then you’ll have a fun time clogging,” states Kourtney.

and has already begun by teaching a dance to kids in elementary school in gym class, as well as in junior high.

She has also ‘cued’ a few classes with her clogging group.

“I have a very small quiet voice but I really enjoy teaching because of the enthusiasm that people have with learning something new.”

While her clogging has brought her slight fame, between being in the local newspaper, and getting to perform for Ed Stelmach, she is uncertain where her dancing will lead after graduation, however she knows it will be a part of her life somehow.

When she is older she would like to become a Forensic Anthropologist or work in a forensic lab.

She learned about these jobs from her favourite TV show ‘Bones’.

Lamont Pee Wee Hawks place 3rd in Provincial Hockey Championships Coach Brent Marler said the team played their hearts out The Lamont Pee Wee Hawks placed third in the Alberta Provincial Hockey Championship in Black Diamond on the weekend of March 16 to 18th.

The team started out slow on Friday with a tie game against Clive 6-6. It was not the Hawks’ best effort, but they still came back from a two goal deficit in the third period to tie the game.

In the Hawks second game the effort and intensity was there, but they lost 6-2 to the eventual winners of the tournament, the Crowsnest Pass team. They were tield 1-1 after the first period and ran into penalty trouble the rest of the game. Crowsnest Pass accounted for five of their six goals on the power play.

The third game was a do or die situation where the Hawks had to not only beat Oyen, but win by at least five goals in order to have a berth in the semi-finals on Sunday. The team played a solid game and beat Oyen to advance to the semi-finals versus an unbeaten and well rested Mayerthorpe team.

The Hawks played two games Saturday with their last one being at 8:30 p.m. Then they had to face-off against Mayerthorpe, who only played one game Saturday, at 8 a.m. the next morning.

Coach Brent Marler said the Hawks played their hearts out, and were down 5-4 going into the third period.

They ran out of gas in the third as the lack of sleep and rest overcame them, and were sent home by a final score of 9-5.

The tournament committee picked a player of the game for each game we played. The recipients of those awards

were Keelan Ewanowich, Jackson Bettac, Justin Marler, and Jackson Bettac. Justin Marler and Jackson Bettac also led the team in scoring, and were also second and third respectively from the top of the leader board for the entire tournament.

While disappointed with their semi-final loss, coach Marler said, the team can still hold their heads high as being the third place team in the province in the D category.

Members of the Lamont Pee Wee Hawks have good reason to hold their heads high after earning third place in the provincial hockey championships held in Black Diamond March 16-18th. It was a great learning experience and a memorable eventthat will stay with the players and coaches for the rest of their lives.

CANEXUS CHEMICALS CANADA LIMITED PARTNERSHIP ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND ENHANCEMENT ACT NOTICE OF APPLICATION NEW PIPELINE PROJECT In accordance with the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act, CANEXUS Chemicals Canada Limited Partnership (CANEXUS) has applied to Alberta Environment and Water for an approval to construct the Bruderheim Pipeline Laterals Project. CANEXUS is proposing to construct approximately 9.7 km of pipeline. Three pipelines will be installed from the CANEXUS Bruderheim Terminal located in SW 34-55-20 W4M to existing infrastructure in the area within NE 6-56-20 W4M. The pipelines will transport: condensate (323.9 mm O.D. pipeline), diluted bitumen (609.6 mm O.D. pipeline) and water (273.1 mm O.D. pipeline). The condensate and the diluted bitumen pipelines will be installed in a common trench. Condensate stored in an above ground steel storage tank at the Bruderheim terminal will be transported via the new proposed pipeline to an interconnection (NE 6-56-20 W4M) with an existing diluent pipeline. Diluted bitumen will be transported from the interconnection with an existing heavy oil pipeline system via the new proposed pipeline and stored at Bruderheim Terminal in above ground insulated and heated steel storage tanks. A water pipeline is also part of the proposed pipeline system and will be an idle line segment intended to be connected to a future raw water supply line. A 30 m permanent right-of-way (ROW) with 5 m of temporary workspace is required for the proposed project. The minimum depth of cover for the condensate and the diluted bitumen pipelines are 1.2 m, while the water pipeline will be installed to a depth of 1.8 m. Pending regulatory approval, construction is scheduled to commence in the Third and Fourth Quarter of 2012.

Pursuant to Section 72 of the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act, any person who is directly affected by this operation may submit a written statement of concern regarding this application. Failure to file a statement of concern may affect the right to file a notice of objection (on appeal) with the Environmental Appeal Board. Such a statement of concern must be submitted to: Director of Southern Region Alberta Environment and Water Regulatory Approvals Centre Main Floor, 9820 - 106 Street Edmonton, Alberta T5K 2J6 within 30 days of the date of this notice.

Fun, fashion, fellowship Many highlights for 31st Annual Spring Tune up Women’s Conference in St. Michael

Women of all ages throughout Lamont County converged in St. Michael last Saturday to attend the 31st annual Spring Tune Up conference at the recreation centre.

It was a day of fun, fashion, fellowship, and learning for nearly 150 women. The conference was presented by Lamont County's Community Adult Learning Council Linda Davies models out(CALC) and Family and fit supplied by Gerry’s.

Community Support Services (FCSS) in the Lamont County region.

After the introductions of CALC board members by chair Debby Gargus, and a few words from CALC director Debbie Holland, the event kicked into high gear with Charmaine Hammond's presentation about her beloved dog Toby, and the lesson filled journey they took together.

"I'm excited to share his story, to make you laugh, and inspire you, and be thankful he wasn't your dog," teased the author of "On Toby's Terms."

Toby, was a five-year-old "goofy looking" Chesepeake Bay Retriver, she and her husband adopted. Hammond told the crowd that because of Toby, she discovered a way to pursue her passion, and Toby was able to leave his pawprints of love around the world.

After about six months in the Hammond household, Toby decided to trash the house. Hammond described it as the "Day of Destruction," as most everything in the house was damaged. The water cooler, plants, clothes, shoes, and a variety of other objects were strewn about. Evidence was in the pictures her husband took as all the toilet tanks had been smashed, and water was left running in the bathtub and sink with Toby becoming trapped inside.

The destruction was so extensive, that her husband thought there had been a robbery, and called on a neighbour to come and assist him. Luckily, only Toby's paw was cut during the rampage.

There was more going on with Toby than the Hammonds realized and they decided to get the help of a dog behaviour therapist, who felt that he needed a purpose, and through testing and training, Toby became a pet assisted therapy dog. He got a job working in the psychiatric unit at Alberta Hospital every Wednesday, and helped brighten the lives of patients who were suffering from mental illness. "He taught me about being a good friend." Toby also taught Charmaine about passion, patience, and per-

Sticking things out a bit longer, communicating better, as well as teaching the importance of celebrating success, were also a couple of valuable lessons Hammond learned along the way. And along the way, either by accident or destiny, Hammond would be encouraged to write a book on Toby.

Toby also taught Hammond to be present, and give meaning to everything you do. "He used to start his day with a happy dance." It made her start to begin her day with more joy and gratitude as well.

She encouraged participants to be kind to themselves, stress less, and to find things that bring and give joy. Toby shared his unconditional love, with not only those patients, but people in their everyday lives, and to school children he'd visit. Altogether, Toby touched the lives of 10,000 students during

Next on stage were Deanna Siemens and Lorelei Thomas, two of the three authors of The Big Cook cookbook, who shared their secrets of solving the dreaded dinner dilemma.

"We want to show you what the big cook is," said Thomas. "It was my survival method," added Siemens. More of a concept than cookbook, the authors told audience members they would never have to wonder what's for dinner again. By buying groceries in bulk, and hosting cooking parties, the women have been able to provide healthy homemade meals for family and friends over the past 13 years.

Thomas and Siemens demonstrated how to prepare eight meals in five minutes for the audience, and encouraged participants to adopt the "Big Cook" method in order to save time, save money, and stress less. They said that for $300 you could make 30 main course meals that are frozen, taken out of the freezer daily, and are ready to cook or already cooked when you get home from work. The recipes in the "Big Cook" can be cooked in the oven, slow cooker, stir fried, microwaved or barbecued, and cost on average $10 to $12 per meal.

"One of the reasons we do the Big Cook is to have more free time," said Thomas, who estimated the method frees up about an hour a day, taking away planning, preparation, and a lot of clean up time.

"It's a cooking concept that can change the way you live," added Siemens, who encouraged participants to try the "Big Cook" at home and share it with their family and friends.

Mundare couple keep Ukrainian culture and lively music alive through workshop

Charlie and Debby Gargus love to share in the music of the Ukrainian culture, and that is why the local couple have been organizing the Ukrainian Music Workshop in Mundare for the past seven years.

The Gargus’ say the workshop is not, however, limited to people of Ukrainian heritage. “We have students that can claim heritage from England, France, Scotland, Romania, Germany, Poland, Ireland, and China; all wanting to be able to play a very challenging style of music that is fun and energetic.”

This year participants ranged from five to 80 years of age, and travelled from all over the greater Edmonton region, including: Lamont, Mundare, Vegreville, Fort Saskatchewan, Smoky Lake, and Westrose.

“Family members of participants are very pleased to have another opportunity for their children to participate in a cultural experience,” add Charlie and Debbie.

The day long event is patterned after the workshops and camps run by the Alberta Society of Fiddlers. Planning for the first ever workshop began in the fall of 2004 by local fiddlers including Peter Gargus.

“We initially expected to run a maximum of two workshops, but have not been allowed to stop, and demand continues to hold for this ever popular event.

“We can feel the energy rise as the participants start coming into the hall at 8:30 in the morning, and it continues to increase until after the concert and jam, and everyone has headed home.”

The “electrified” atmosphere that permeates the venue is fantastic. “The overall impact is that many people visit Mundare and leave at the end of the evening with new friendships and great memories. Comraderie is a given, when you mix good people with good food and music!”

They both have fond memories from sitting in the musical hall at Camp HeHoHa during the Alberta Society of Fiddlers (ASF) camp. They have also enjoyed seeing the students volunteer at the courtyard at the Ukrainian Village during their summer events as well as see workshop participants perform at Pysanka Days in Vegreville.

The event is funded mostly through students registrations, and for the few classes which do not have enough registrants, the shortfall in funds are offset by donations from local businesses, organizations, and residents. If there are any monies left over at the end of the event, they are distributed within the community.

Last year the Mundare Fire and Rescue received money for helping to buy rescue tools for vehicle extrication.

The biggest challenges are to find instructors and having registrations completed in a timely fashion, but they have always been able to meet those challenges in the past, and will no doubt, be able to do so again in the future.

The Gargus’ say the workshop has always been a very exciting and fun day,” and the eighth annual workshop has already been set for March 9th, 2013.

Inspiration can come from anywhere.

And the one person who was the source of inspiration for Dylan Vadnais was her father.

Her heartfelt words and emotions also inspired the judges at the 2012 ATB Young Speakers Invitational to award her top honors for her speech, “An Unexpected Hero.”

Vadnais, a Grade 5 student from Mundare School, was awarded second place in the district wide public speaking competition held on March 14th at the Strathcona County Hall. Many of the 300 audience members were moved to tears by Vadnais’ speech, and told her after the competition that they were going to go right home and call their own dads!

It was also difficult for Dylan’s dad Donald and mom Sian to hold back tears during her speech which captivated the hearts of everyone in the crowd.

Now you’re probably thinking, ok this girl’s a little on the loopy side, let’s just humour her...please remain calm, I’ll explain everything. You see, a little part of all those heros I just mentioned lives in MY hero, my dad.

Born and raised on a cattle farm he has the hardworking nature to prove it, but when he left home at 18, his adventures had just begun and by the time I came along, he’d had a lifetime of experiences to share with me. And he does. Every day, he relates a story or a piece of advice during our time after school when we just sit and talk.

Sometimes I just nod and smile and think “Oh dad, I love you but...Really that’s sooo last millenium” but most of the time he makes sense, and I learn a lot. Like a wise old wizard he magically calms me no matter how bad my day has been, and he can make me feel instantly special with a hug and a smile.

My dad has taught me that nothing is impossible!

He encourages and supports me so that I learn to like myself, faults and all, and that’s a great feeling. Bad dreams? No problem! My hero has even taught me how to conquer my nightmares, so if that doesn’t make him a Knight in shining armour, I don’t know what does.

We do lots of activities together; we fly over skyscrapers, sail the seven seas, and ride our trusty steeds through enchanted forests, all without leaving our seats. That’s right, we read together! In fact, sometimes at night, I can talk him into reading two chapters instead of just one! Well, you wouldn’t want him to stop right when the Trolls were going to eat Bilbo, now would you? That’s just too terrible a fate to sleep on!!

We’re even writing a book together, it’s so much FUN and dad helps me to streeetch my imagination!

I love the night’s when my mom gives the “ok” and we get daddy/daughter game time! We might set out on quests through the Kingdoms of Middle Earth, fight epic battle or just take a cruise in our landspeeders across the desserts of Tattooine. Adventuring is awesome when your partner is your dad!!

He’s understanding when I need a listener and tough when I need a firm hand, (and sometimes I do.) Most importantly, he says that no matter what I do, I’ll be his little girl and he’ll always love me.

So there you have it, he can’t fly, and he doesn’t own a pointy hat, armour or a light sabre (at least not a real one anyway)...But my dad is magical and wise in his own way, and ...well...a wonderfully unexpected hero.”

Tough choices for EIPS Declining revenues and increased expenses will make decision making very challenging

certain fees for supplies and materials to enhance the education experience. Although this will be a difficult budget, the board has decided to hold the line on a number of fees in 2012-'13 such as the learning resource and transportation fees.

While there has been a lot of discussion in recent weeks surrounding fees, McFadyen says there has been no discussion regarding reimbursement.

Even though this budget will be extremely challenging, McFadyen hopes things will be a little easier and more predictable over the next two years, as the provincial government has committed funding for the next three years, which is a positive step forward, and will allow for greater opportunities for long-term planning.

McFadyen will be tweaking the numbers during early September, and the division's final budget will be submitted on Nov. 30th.

There will be financially challenging times ahead for public schools in Elk Island.

Scott McFadyen, chief financial officer with Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS), says administrators will have challenging discussions and decisions to make over the next month as they wrestle with declining revenue and increased expenses.

The board of trustees recently passed a $5.4 million deficit draft budget that will be distributed to 44 schools in the district. From there, administrators will have to crunch their own numbers and decide what stays and what goes in terms of programming, servicing, and staffing.

One of the key factors in the budget is enrolment, and the other is expenses, adds McFadyen, and the simple fact that revenue is not keeping pace with growing inflation is a growing concern and problem.

Student enrollment is another one of the key factors, notes McFadyen, as is funding which is based on projections that may not add up on paper. Upon analyzing the details of the Feb. 9th provincial budget, McFadyen has determined the division's revenue will only increase 0.5 per cent in the 2012'13 school year. However, this funding will not cover the cost of inflation, and McFadyen says tough decisions will have to made, as it is no longer feasible for the school division to dip into reserves to cover losses in revenue. For example, EIPS used $1.7 million in reserves in last year's budget to make up for losses in revenue, adds McFadyen.

In fact, McFadyen says EIPS has used reserves to maintain service levels in the previous three budget cycles, but this practice is no longer sustainable because the division must continue to maintain an adequate reserve balance to deal with emergent issues.

Andrew Atom Aces earn second place in 16/60 League Championship The Andrew Aces Atom Hockey Team started off the 2011/12 season a bit slow this year, but came together very quickly before the start of the New Year. They won their first tournament of the year in Kitscoty on Jan 15, 2012. Provincial play downs started January 25th with the Aces playing Smoky Lake Stars, which saw our team come out ahead with an 18-2 victory! Next round our kids beat The Vegreville Wranglers 12-2.

Lamont County’s Agricultural Service Department will be implementing a new spraying program. This program is designed to target areas adjacent to municipal right-of-ways and headlands that are areas of concern. Lamont County will offer 2 free acres of s praying to target weeds in these areas. The Agricultural Service Department may do additional spraying of up to 10 acres (including the two free acres) at the landowner/renter’s expense. You may apply to Lamont County’s Agricultural Service Department if you wish to participate in this program. Fire station personnel will be visiting every burn permit site with thermal imaging cameras and making a report starting on April 1, 2012.

DEVELOPMENT AND LAND USE NEW FOR LANDOWNERS SUBDIVIDING EXISTING YARD SITES IN LAMONT COUNTY When applying for a subdivision in Lamont County and it consists an existing yard site, you will require a SURVEYOR’S SITE PLAN. The benefits of obtaining a surveyor’s site plan with a subdivision application for an established yard site are: 1. Takes out the guess work for landowners, planning department staff and Municipal Planning Commission in the actual size of parcel being subdivided out.

2. Site plan is consistently in meters, shows all above ground appurtenances (buildings, fences, shelterbelts, septic, etc…), and the distances to proposed and existing property lines.

3. Prevents the frequent conflicts that arise when the surveyor does the Real Property Report – often the parcel is larger or creates non-conformance with the setback requirements of our Land Use Bylaw.

4. Speeds up the process.
