November 2012
November is a special month for me. Not because of Thanksgiving (which is a special day I always enjoy spending with family) or because it’s my birthday (which is also very special even if I am getting closer to retirement age than I wish I was). Another reason is that it is the Marine Corps Birthday. On November 10th the U.S. Marine Corps will be celebrating our 237th Birthday! I’m proud to be a Marine, serving from 1969 to 1973 in the Marine Air Wing as an Ordnance Technician, and a Vietnam Veteran as well. I want to wish all of my fellow Marines a Happy Birthday and Semper Fi! Things begin slowing down in November and some may put their bikes in storage or hook them up to the battery tender in the garage for the next five or six months. Don’t be too quick to do that, there’s still plenty of good riding weather to come. Don’t forget the toy runs in November, they’re always a great way to end the year and help some needy kids too. On Thanksgiving Day take some time to remember our brothers and sisters serving in the Armed Forces overseas and those that may not be as fortunate as you. There are a lot of people hurting from this bad economy and if you can do something to help someone out that would be great. Finally, on November 6th is Election Day and this is going to be a very important one, maybe the most important one we’ve ever seen. There are forces at work in this country and around the world that would seek to destroy us and our way of life. You get one vote, make it count and if you don’t vote you can’t complain about who our next President is. VOTE ON NOVEMBER 6TH! I’ll see you on the road or at the next event. Norm “You keep us informed, we’ll tell everyone else!”

Biker’s Attend Church
Annual Biker Sunday draws record attendance story & photos by Norm Keller
It was the 10th Anniversary of Biker Sunday held at the Line Lexington Mennonite Church www.llmc.org that is located just off Route 309 in Line Lexington, PA. Reverand Lowell Delp started this annual worship service open to the motorcycle community to reach out and let them know that there is a welcome for them every Sunday. Reverand Delp, an avid rider and owner of an Indian motorcycle, hosts rides every month that open for anyone to attend. It might just be heading out for a meal or riding to tourist area. The idea is to be out and riding and spending time getting to know each other. To celebrate the 10th Anniversary Rich Vreeland (and his wife Patty), owner of Vrelland Harley-Davidson in Bloomsburg, PA www.vreelandsharley.com was invited to share his testimony. Rich brought with him his nitro drag bike and started it up at the beginning of the services. He also did a burnout with one of his bikes, although he didn’t blow the tire he did leave a substantial mark in the asphalt. Music was provided by the band Raging Grace www.raginggrace.com who provide gospel music with a blues tempo. The band hails from Brooklyn, CT and are popular in the northeast for youth concerts and they reach out to the motorcycle community with their music. Fred McClincy from the Pennsylvania Gospel Rider Motorcycle Ministries does a lot of work of work in putting this annual event together and led in the opening ceremonies. After the music and a message from Pastor Lowell there was plenty of food, courtesy of a gracious pig that gave his all for the event. When pig roast was over there were several rides that attendees could choose from going through Bucks County or even over into New Jersey. I’m putting a video together and it should be posted on my site for those of you that didn’t attend but were interested in seeing what happens at a Biker Sunday. I had a great time and you read about it here in the East Coast Biker magazine.

One Day At A Time
And having a great time along the way! story by Norm Keller, photos by Vince Snyder
It was about two years ago when I first met Billy. I saw his flyer’s showing up at local dealers and bike shops and he was handing them out events as well. Billy is one of the hardest working, fun-loving guys that I’ve ever met. He has a good work ethic and puts 100% into everything he does. I asked him how he came up with the idea of BikerList.com and he said, “I had a lot of motorcycle parts laying around and began selling them online at eBay and I began to think... why isn’t there a site like this that is dedicated to motorcycle parts and accessories.” He began to check into it and found a company that could help him set it up. The idea is to have only motorcycle related sales, not all kinds of junk that you might find laying around your garage or attic. In January 2010 BikerList.com started, still needing some tweaking but it was up and running. To promote the site Billy would go to bike events and set up as a vendor, or just walk around the crowd, to hand out flyer’s. This got him some recognition but he was looking for more exposure, something that get people’s attention. Enter Johnny Lang’s Strip Club Choppers www.stripclubchoppers.com who was beginning to franchise his merchandise. Johnny Lang is a well know personality in the motorcycle industry and Billy thought that this was just what he might be looking for. Without hesitation he bought the franchise for Pennsylvania & New Jersey www.panjchoppers.com and more work for Billy. Now when Billy shows up at an event he is seen with his tent and some hot babes showing off he latest in clothing from Strip Club Choppers. He uses one company to compliment the other and is doing a great job at that. I’ve never met anyone that enjoys their work so much as Billy does. One day I asked him “Are you making any money at this?” He said, “Not yet, but I’m having a blast doing it.” The bottom line is this, if you have something that you like to sell and at a reasonable price, go to www.BikerList.com and give them a try. There are no fees to set up your account and a modest commission only when your product has sold. While your on his site you might want to check out his Blog and also join him on Facebook @Billys Bikerlist II, it seems that his original page on Facebook is filled with friends already. When you see Billy, let him know that you read about him here, in the East Coast Biker magazine.

Get Your Salsa On
Homemade recipe adds spice to your favorite meal story and photos by Norm Keller
I remember the first time met Alicia, it was at a bike show in Reading, PA and she rode in on the back of her then boyfriends custom chopper holding a crop pot of homemade chili for a chili contest. The ride was over 30 miles from her home in Northampton but she was determined. I’ve seen her at several events over the years and I always asked her about her chili. Recently I met up with her again and she told me of a new venture that she has undertaken. She had begun the production and distribution of her family recipe salsa, Aunt Ophilas Gourmet Salsa. The product is available in Regular, HOTT & Habanero Spankin’ Hot, for the more adventurous. She makes all her salsa with fresh ingredients so it is “Bursting with flavor,” as she states on her website. I’ve added some to my own chili and find that the extra flavor is something that I’ve been missing all these years. Some include it in their quesadilla or in an omelet for a tasty Mexican style breakfast. Add it to your cheese steak or even try it in some meat loaf and see how your taste buds will come to life. Let her know where you’re using it or what ideas you might come up with. Distribution, Alicia has spent a lot of time hitting local owned stores, beer distributors and shops that might be interested in something fresh and original for their customers. You can check her website for a few locations or contact her direct to find it near you. You can also just visit her website and order from there. I recently attended an open house and sample tasting at Lattemann’s Corner Store & Deli, located just north of Bath, PA on Routes 946 & 987 meet. Joe Lattemann is a biker his Deli makes a great destination to stop for some lunch. His sandwiches are sure to please and the beautiful roads make a great ride home on a full stomach. Call Joe at 610-837-1800 if you need directions. By the way, this would make a great stop for your next poker run, ask Joe for details. These are both local, biker-owned, businesses and they would welcome your support. I know that you’ll be pleased with their products and they will go out of their way for you. With the Christmas season upon us a gift of Aunt Ophilas Gourmet Salsa would be great idea. Check out the website at:

September started with the Roar to the Shore in Wildwood, New Jersey on September 6-8. Perfect end of the summer as the nice weather drew hundreds to the Jersey seashore for chance to combine motorcycle madness with sun and surf. Thanks to the decent weather, hundreds were able have a biker end to the summer beach season with The Roar to the Shore. Riders could show off their bikes while cruising along Atlantic Avenue in front of the crowd lined Daytona-style event near the Bolero Hotel. Others visited the many vendors in three locations around the Bolero. At the Wildwood Convention Center, the Battle of the Biker Bands took place on Saturday from 5-8 p.m. Also at the center, there were opportunities to help animals at Lilo’s Promise Animal Rescue or the Pennsylvania SPCA. The Harley-Davison York Open House, held September 27-29, marked the end of September and the beginning of the end of the riding season. Harley-Davidson showed customer appreciation by providing a chance to demo ride the latest models, tour the York plant or pick up accessories at the various dealerships’ booths. Harley-Davidson also sponsored the annual York Bike Night on September 27. Harry Hairston, an investigative reporter for Philadelphia’s Channel 10, was the Grand Marshall of the Delaware County Historical Society ‘s First Annual Ride for History on September 30. They would meet to eat at various area restaurants like Winner Circle sport Grille, Hank’s Place and Hooter’s. They took long experienced rider runs like the ride on the challenging Route 125 on September 20 and leisurely fun rides like the Steam Train tour to the Strausburg Railroad on September 22. Tri-State HOG also averaged two or more events each week during September. Charlie Dresden, the club’s road captain, led the group to the Ox Yoke Inn www.ox-yokeinn.com in Galeton, Pa for an overnight trip on September 23. SELLING YOUR MOTORCYCLE PRIVATELY
1-888-CYCLE-LAW
Over the last few years, as a result of writing columns for motorcycle magazines, I have had many readers call to ask if there is a downside to selling their motorcycle privately as opposed to trading it in? Given that this question revolves around a motorcycle, it seems to make sense to direct it to a Pennsylvania motorcycle lawyer.
First off, I don’t see anything wrong with selling your motorcycle privately, however if you are going to do this, you have to be smart about it. In other words, if somebody wants to test drive your motorcycle you must first ask if they have a motorcycle license and do they have any experience operating motorcycles. Although I may sound overly cautious, what would happen if you allowed this person to take your motorcycle out for a test drive, and they ended up injured as a result of a collision. Depending upon the severity of the persons injuries, they may be looking to you to reimburse them for their injuries and you may be liable for allowing them to ride your motorcycle without a motorcycle license or questioning their experience. The theory under which you can be sued would be negligent entrustment, with the lawsuit alleging that you did not do any investigation at all to find out if this person should have been allowed to operate your motorcycle regardless if it was for a test drive. LeeGaber@cycleattorney.com www.cycleattorney.com
Additionally, you may also be responsible to fix your own motorcycle, so make sure you are fully insured with collision coverage on your bike. The bottom line is, if someone wants to take your motorcycle for a ride you should; a) make sure they have a motorcycle license and b) if they do, ask them if they currently have insurance on any motorcycle they may own at the time they are asking to test drive yours. Assuming your bike is in good shape, that should leave you covered. Also, before you give them your motorcycle, you should ask to hold something personal of theirs, like their car keys, to make sure they come back with your motorcycle. On an entirely different topic, as of August 31st of this year, any 16 or 17 year old who wishes to take the skills test for their motorcycle license will have had to first complete the basic rider course offered by the Pennsylvania Motorcycle Safety Program. This is a free program and the bikes are normally provided free of charge. Most motorcycle lawyers familiar with this rule, will advise that before one can go for their licensing test, they must have had a learners permit for at least six months, completed at least 15 hours of classroom and riding instruction which breaks down into five hours in the classroom and ten hours on the course. If you are under 18 you must also show that you had your parent attest to the 65 hours of training being completed. However, the 15 hours of training does count toward the 65 hours on the road requirement. As a PA motorcycle accident lawyer, this is one rule that I truly believe in and support because at a minimum it will insure that every rider has taken the safety course and has been taught the safest way to ride a motorcycle. Hopefully after taking this course and buying an appropriate motorcycle, your riding skills will prevent you from ever needing to call a motorcycle accident lawyer. As always, if upon reading this material you have any questions regarding this topic or any others, please feel free to contact me at LeeGaber@cycleattorney.com or 1-888-CYCLE-LAW (1-888-292-5352). Sincerely, LEE D. GABER, Esquire The one and only, “Cycle Attorney”

Welcome To Lansdale Biker Night Rain date made for a great event story & photos by Norm Keller
Over the past few years the Blue Comet MC, host of Lansdale Bike Night, have had their share of bad of bad weather. This year’s event had to be re-scheduled to from Saturday night to Sunday afternoon due to the weather. However, the weather was great on Sunday and Bike Night, or afternoon, was a huge success. The vendors lined the Madison Street parking lot and side streets as the bikers arrived to say “Good Bye” to summer. Bikers mixed with the residents of Lansdale once again as the Main Street was closed off to traffic to make room for motorcycles, hundreds and thousands of motorcycles. The bike show was held on the Madison Street parking lot, surrounded by hosts of food vendors and bike shops showing their wares. It all started at 2:00pm, allowing the residents to attend their morning services without the disturbance of the rumble of motorcycles. Bands poured out music on several stages while attendees sat on the sidewalk at local cafe’s like Molly McQuires enjoying good food and beverage with friends and people watching at the same time. A work platform was available for those that wanted to get a birds eye view of the event. The guys and gals at the Blue Comet MC were as organized as usual in putting this event together and at taking it down at the end of the day. Bike Night is over and so is summer. It’s time to begin planning next years events. Old man winter is just around the corner but there is still plenty of good riding to be done.

Rally at the Rock
Split Rock Lodge welcome Motorcycle Exgtravaganza story & photos by Norm Keller
It was the first time that Mike and Crickett took the Motorcycle Extravaganza to the Poconos and they pulled out all the stops. Making the show a family friendly event they had plenty for the kids from face painting to midway style games, for the young and the not so young. There was even a puppet show that delighted the young. For the rest of us, Creative Designs & Keystone Choppers, to name a few, were on hand with some impressive bikes to look over. The Brothers Obrien, Ink Illusionists, were on hand with their “Victorian Charm” to entertain and delight. Check out their webiste at www.inkllusionist.com. The also offered their tattoo service for those that wanted something a little more creative. Tattoo Tony Rodriquez, tattoo artist of the stars, was also on hand also. In addition to providing tattoos he also sat in with the band and sang on a couple of songs. His shop is Under My Skin Tattoo located in Atlantic Highlands, NJ. You can find out more about Tony on his website www.undermyskintat2.com. Motorcycle Extravaganza will be at the Allentown Fairground Agriculture Hall on December 8&9 and again in March. You might want to put it on your calendar and be a part of the event, you never know who you’re going to run in to. For more information on upcoming shows visit their website www.mextrashows.com I hope to see you there.

Over the years we have we have recovered substantial amounts of money for our clients in counties throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. We have references and our clients overwhelmingly say they are happy with our services. Results are important and examples of our injury recoveries include:
