SELECTING THE RIGHT LAWYER Hopefully you never need the services of a motorcycle injury attorney, BUT if you ever do, unless you are represented by an attorney experienced in this complicated area of the law, you will be at a distinct disadvantage when having to deal with an insurance company or insurance company attorneys. Over the years we have we have recovered substantial amounts of money for our clients in counties throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. First, let me wish everyone a very Merry Christmas! Yes, I said Christmas, this is not a “politically correct” publication and I won’t give in to the pressure of “Happy Holiday’s” or “Merry XMas.” I know what this holiday is all about and I won’t be pressured into diminishing the importance of it. This issue marks the last for 2011, obviously, and the beginning of our 10th Anniversary. In 2012 we are celebrating 10 years of publishing and I can’t believe that I’ve been doing this for TEN years. We’ve come a long way since the first issue and it’s all because of your support, I couldn’t have done it without you. I began with the idea of publishing a newsletter and had hoped that if I could print 2,000 a copies a month by the end the first year I would have been happy. As it turned out I did 2,000 copies the first month and it’s just continued to grow since then. I now publish two magazines a month; the East Coast Biker magazine (this one) and the East Coast Biker Online magazine which is our new all web-based publication found on our website. Between both magazines we are getting over 20,000 readers a month AND GROWING! This year I hit the magic 1,000,000 hits in on month on my website and I expect by this time in 2012 to say that we get that number every month and then some. I think that the internet is the growth of this industry and that is why I’m putting extra attention to the website and the online magazine. I’m not expecting to stop printing this edition anytime soon so don’t worry, but I’m looking for substantial growth on the website in 2012. With this tough economy we’ve lost a lot of motorcycle dealers & shops as well as some publications but the East Coast Biker is still here and still “The most read publication in the tri-state area” thanks to you. Now plug in your battery tender, have some fun and spend some quality time with your family, and your snowblower, for the next couple of months. In the meantime, keep reading the East Coast Biker and visiting our website. We’ll keep you informed over the winter as well as in the summer.

Hi! My name is Wayne Hoffman (Huffy the “Biker” Clown). I belong to a Motorcycle Club that is a role model for what a club should be. So I’m writing this story to let you know why you should Join a club and get involved. There are many clubs out there that have something for everyones interest. The LVMC is a family friendly club that has picnics, camp fire cook outs, family fun road trips and lots of poker runs … just to name a few things we do. We meet every Friday night at 8:30pm. This year we’ve have had some challenges thrown at us as our President had to step down due to medical issues, so Grizz our Vice-President stepped right in, Then we had the flood that totally destroyed the downstairs that had our kitchen, bar, furnace, water heater and yes… the pool table. It’s nice to see how others are helping out to remodel and get the club back to normal operations.
Story & photos submitted by Wayne Hoffman
Lebanon Valley MC
It’s about family fun and sharing
Our club also gets involved with other clubs and we help to raise money to make donations to other groups and clubs such as BACA of Bucks County www.bacabucksco.com. BACA heard about our clubhouse flooding and showed up at our most recent poker pun to help support us and gave us a donation towards our repairs.
Acting Pres. Grizz
The Lebanon Valley Motorcycle Club was organized and chartered with the American Motorcyclist Association in March 1948 with Charter #1279. Since that time, our membership has grown from 40 members to 320 members; this includes 47 Life Members and 30 social members. Then in May of 1948, a clubhouse was purchased. It was very crude - an old chicken house to be exact. Throughout the years, the clubhouse was periodically remodeled. Then in 1971 the property adjacent to the clubhouse was purchased. This property included one acre of land and a small house. The District 6 Sports Association also uses the clubhouse for their meetings. The Lebanon Valley Motorcycle Club members constantly strive to improve and promote the sport of motorcycling. Our club has received much good publicity by working with several local health organizations. We are proud of the fact that LVMC has been recognized over the past years from United Cerebral Palsy of Lebanon County for work done by our members in the UCP annual house to house campaign, “Hike to Help”, March of Dimes, Heart Walk and United Way Run. In 1975, the Central Chapter Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame held a salute dinner for Lebanon Valley Motorcycle Club. At this dinner, a motorcyclist was inducted into the prestigious “Sports Hall of Fame”. This was the first in the history of the Central Chapter that a motorcyclist was honored, much less a motorcycle club saluted. A definite asset in LVMC efforts to obtain favorable publicity through the media was a blood donor project. The wife of a local radio announcer was badly injured in a motorcycle accident and LVMC members replaced many pints of blood even though the woman was not a member of LVMC. Members of LVMC with its parent organization the American Motorcyclist Association and through affiliation with District 6 Sports Association will continue their efforts to establish motorcycling as “The Greatest Sport on Wheels” and to improve the image of the sport of motorcycling and clubs. Thank you for taking the time and reading this article. I hope that if you have a chance to join a club and participate in the activities. Without active members, clubs can’t survive. Thanks and Ride Safe, Wayne Hoffman AKA Huffy

Old Dogs Fight Off Hurricane Irene The weatherman can’t stop good times and good friends Story and photos submitted by Little Richard and “Super Grouch”
This year for the annual Gathering of the Old Dogs Brotherhood MC the weather reports were not promising. Seeing this is a bike event and people were coming in from several states there was no turning back. Putting up tents and preparing food began as chapter members started arriving on Wednesday to lend a hand. This year our people were coming in from as far as the Black Hills & the Canadian border as well as far away as the Gulf Coast. Many of our east coast chapters showed up. Friday was great and Saturday the weather was still co-operating. We haven’t seen many of our brothers & sisters in more than a year plus there were new members & friends still to meet. There was plenty of food & drink, music was provided by Steam Rollers who did a great job. We had a bike show and everyone that came got a door prize. The tattoo guy was there past midnight. Sunday morning came and Hurricane Irene hit us hard, as I’m sure you know. Without much fanfare we ate our breakfast packed up and said our “so longs” until next time. All in all it was a good time had by all and we didn’t have to do a human sacrifice to stop the rain. I hope to see you there next year.

Old Bikes and Hot Girls The Pennsylvania Roadhouse is a place you can be yourself Story & photos by Norm Keller
Located off of Route 33 at the Nazareth (Rt. 191) exit, take the exit and go north till the road splits and turn left, you’ll see the old Pennsylvania Roadhouse on your right side in no time at all. It’s a great ride and a good place to hang out with old friends or meet some new friends. The food is “Bar food” with a zesty flavor to appeal to their rugged customers. It’s a great place when you got the munchies or you just want to relax with a beer and friendly talk after a hard day at work. As one patron put it, “Awesome! You can get something good to eat here. You can get really drunk here. You can make friends and influence people here! It is epic.” Stop by and play some pool, sing some karaoke or be a part of the many biker events happening all year. Owner, Deb Lucera (photo to right), has a hands on attitude about her business. She keeps herself involved in everything that is happening and is constantly working on new ideas to keep things interesting. “Deb’s Girls” (photo on left) keep the food and drinks moving and provide some nice eye candy as well. This month we are featuring Kimberly on our cover and centerfold. She’s sitting on Deb’s own vintage Harley and she’s doing a great job of providing some welcome distraction. Kimberly says she is on “Kick ass bartender”, and I would have to agree on that point. Stop in and “Spend some time with Deb and the girls” and tell them that you read about them in the East Coast Biker magazine.

GOLD WING TOURING ASSOCIATION REGION F PENNSYLVANIA STATE NEWS Bernie & Diane Newton, State Directors Don & Patty Hoffman, Assistant State Directors Donna Thorne, Treasurer ~ Peggy Kratz, Public Relations http://home.ptd.net/~wingrider/Pennsylvania.htm
GWTA is an international not-for-profit organization of touring motorcyclists, predominantly Gold Wings. It is owned and operated by its members. Check the website at gwta.org for more information.
GOLD WING TOURING ASSOCIATION’S FIRST PENNSYLVANIA RALLY Held September 15-18, 2011
The Kalyumet Campground in Lucinda and surrounding Clarion hotels welcomed The Gold Wing Touring st Association’s 1 Pennsylvania Rally to their beautiful scenic area. State Directors, Bernie and Diane Newton, with the help of other state staff members organized and led the events and rides. Seventy plus motorcyclists enjoyed the fantastic scenery of the area and patronized local businesses and restaurants. The campground was the focal point for the weekend’s activities. The GWTA PA theme was Hawaiian Holiday, so grass skirts, floral leis, coconuts and palm tree shirts were seen all around the campground. The local GWTA Chapter B planned long and short daily rides to area attractions for all to enjoy. Destinations included Kinzua Dam and Bridge, Zippo Lighter Museum, Lucile Ball and Dezi Arnez Museum… and the Devil’s Loop ride (Pennsylvania’s Deals Gap). Bikers visited and got a first hand experience of the area. Also, fun campground activities included “people games” like Minute to Win It… which generated lots of laughter… mini-golf tournament, a “weinie” cookout and hospitality area … to sit a spell, have some snacks, and meet new friends from Pennsylvania and surrounding states (even some from Michigan)... the Saturday night dinner ride was a highlight of the weekend. Bernie and Diane Newton, Pennsylvania State Directors for GWTA, put together a great time for all and thank the community for welcoming us for our first Pennsylvania Rally. Plans are already underway for next year’s rally. Contact the Newton’s at wingrider@ptd.net for more information.

Gearheads Turn up the Volume First Annual Ovarian Cancer Ride is big success Story and photos submitted by Wayne Hoffman, aks Huffy the Clown
The 1st Annual “Turn up the Volume” on Ovarian Cancer event held by Gearheads Chapter of the Iron Order MC of Enola, Pennsylvania. I received a call from “Relic” to invite me to be a part of this first annual event and I was impressed with the agenda for it being a first time fund raiser. Threats of rain and cold weather didn’t keep members from attending. They had representation from four states including Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey and Virginia. Okay, back to the agenda for the day. Things started off with a ride to the Carlisle Heritage Center for a walk around sightseeing tour, then back to YE OLde Ale House for prize raffles, 50/50 while Huffy the Clown made balloon motorcycles for kids and adults. There was a silent auction for sports memorabilia and autographed pictures. A pool tournament was Won by Ralph while Huffy came in second place. A “Duct Tape the Presidents to a Wall” (Muskrat and Stixx) was a lot of fun and the presidents also got tayzed all for the cause. The volume was cranked up by DJ Don playing classic rock and roll. Ye Olde Ale House prepared food and there was a lot of beer also consumed by those in attendance. It was a Fun time for all and they raised almost $1,000.00 for the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation. Thank You Gearheads for all your hard work. Ride Safe, Wayne Hoffman AKA Huffy the “Biker” Clown

by Lee D. Gaber, Esquire 1-888-CYCLE-LAW (1-888-292-5352) LeeGaber@cycleattorney.com When writing the December issue of Ask the Attorney, I try to come up with material that is fresh yet, summarizes what I have experienced over the past year. This year, I have seen a very disturbing trend of insurance companies battling for increased market share based primarily on price.
1-888-CYCLE-LAW LeeGaber@cycleattorney.com www.cycleattorney.com
coverage then ever before.
While this may sound good on its face, the flip side is that, although you may pay less, you will normally be getting less coverage and more hassles if you find yourself needing to make a claim. Everyone needs to understand that, if “YOU” are saving money buying cheaper insurance, you should assume that everyone else is doing the same thing. The end result, is that more drivers – both motorcycle and automobile – are driving around with less insurance
In plain English, it is now more likely than ever, that if you are involved in an accident with another vehicle, the other vehicle will not have enough insurance coverage to compensate you for the damage to your bike, your medical bills, your lost wages, and your pain and suffering. The only way to avoid this situation, if you are involved in an accident, is to purchase enough of your own insurance to cover your losses. The issue that always arises in a serious motorcycle accident is; who is going to pay for lost wages and medical bills, especially if you don’t have health insurance? The simple answer is … unless YOU have private disability coverage or have disability through your employer, no one will immediately reimburse you for your lost wages. The same principal applies to medical coverage. It’s very simple, in PA, NJ and DE if you don’t have medical coverage on your policy and don’t have health insurance, you will be primarily responsible for your medical bills, co-pays and deductibles. The other insurance company will NOT initially pay your medical bills or lost wages even if their insured is 100% at fault. The exception is DE, where motorcycle policies carry $15,000.00 in medical/wage loss coverage. The only way to ensure that you are not completely reliant upon the other persons insurance, or lack thereof, is to purchase as much UNINSURED and UNDERINSURED coverage as possible on your policy. This is the only way to guarantee that you will receive money if you are injured by someone else with little or no insurance coverage. To many of you, this may sound redundant, however, as stated above, I see an alarming trend toward purchasing less insurance, which ultimately means that if you haven’t taken these steps to protect yourself, you will be at the mercy of someone else’s insurance choices, and contrary to popular belief, there is little to no chance of recovering any money from the responsible individual personally. I simply cannot stress how important it is to have the right insurance coverage on your own insurance policies. It is more important than the bike you ride, how loud your pipes are and how much chrome you have, while you may look and sound great, it won’t mean a thing if you are seriously hurt by a person with cut-rate insurance. When you are done reading this article, I urge every one of you to rip it out and share it with a friend. God forbid your friend is ever involved in a serious accident they will thank you profusely for sharing this information with them. I hope you find this information informative and if you would like additional information on this topic, or any other, I can always be reached at LeeGaber@cycleattorney.com or call 1-888-CYCLE-LAW (1-888-292-5352).
Sincerely, LEE D. GABER, Esquire The one and only, “Cycle Attorney”

Eat Some Chili, Win a Bike Hannum’s annual bike giveaway draws large crowd Story & photos by Norm Keller
Every year Hannum’s Harley-Davidson in Media, PA holds a chili contest and open house in October. This year’s event, as always, was loads of fun with some great Chili by local HOG Chapter’s and the Blue Comet MC from Skippack. The days event features entertainment from a DJ and a blues band, Chili Cookoff, fashion show and the big finale is the bike giveaway. Just for attending this event one lucky person will “Drive away” on a brand new Harley-Davidson motorcycle. All you have to do is to register all year long at the dealership then BE THERE at the event. When the drawing was held at 3:00pm this years lucky winner was Jim McCormick from Upland, PA. No tickets to buy, just register and be there for the drawing, what a great deal that is. A Fashion show was presented by HOG members and customers showing off the latest line of Harley MotorClothes™ for the 2012 season. There were plenty of great deals to be had inside the dealership and a lot of fun all day long. When it comes to throwing a party the Hannum family knows how to do a great job. Tommy gave a demonstration on how to hold up traffic on Baltimore Pike by burning up the street leaving a plume of smoke behind him as he roared down the street. You’ll have to attend next year to get your chance to win a bike, but for Jim McCormick this is his year! Congratulations Jim and enjoy the FREE ride courtesy of Hannum’s Harley-Davidson.
