ANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCY The Board of Directors of EASTCONN seeks an outstanding education leader for the position of Executive Director and invites qualified and interested candidates to apply. The New England School Development Council (NESDEC) Search Services will facilitate the search on behalf of the Board of Directors. The Search Committee expects the new Executive Director to assume responsibility of the office as of October 1, 2017.
ABOUT EASTCONN Created in 1980 under Connecticut General Statute 10-66a, EASTCONN is a public, non-profit, regional educational service center. EASTCONN exists to provide high-quality, competitively priced educational and related services to 36 member Boards of Education and the 33 communities they serve in northeastern Connecticut. We are governed by a Board of Directors, who are members of locally elected Boards of Education. Our funding comes from the fees we charge for our services, supplemented by competitively awarded grants and contracts.

When the vision of EASTCONN is realized, schools and communities will collaborate effectively to provide opportunities for learners of all ages. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Qualified candidates, at a minimum, are expected to meet the following general performance standards for the position: The EASTCONN Board of Directors seeks candidates who are highly experienced educators who have an extensive administrative background for the position of Executive Director. The next Executive Director of EASTCONN must: • Be a strategic thinker, a creative problem solver, an innovator and have a keen business/entrepreneurial sense for growing revenue and managing fiscal resources • Demonstrates strong and collaborative leadership • Be a quick learner who can readily assess an organization, work effectively to establish positive relationships and has a track record of team building and collaboration • Demonstrates exceptional communication skills • Possess the knowledge and ability to establish trust and build confidence within and outside the agency, including state leaders in education and government, business and community partners and district superintendents and boards of education • Have significant high-level executive management and leadership experience (a doctorate degree is desirable but not necessary) • A future-oriented thinker who can build on existing regional collaboration to position the agency for sustaining and enhancing its regional role • Possess solid core values of integrity, honesty and professional ethics • Be approachable and accessible to staff and constituents • Have the ability to set priorities for action, and work with stakeholders in meeting high expectations for the agency • Have the ability to work on behalf of EASTCONN districts with state and federal legislators. Completed applications are comprised of the following: • Cover letter outlining qualifications and interest in the EASTCONN Executive Directorship • Copy of updated, complete resume which includes a chronology of work history and education background and a preferred email address and phone contact • Copy of Connecticut 093 certification or evidence of eligibility • Copies of transcripts for all degrees held from all granting colleges/ universities (Finalist candidates will be required to supply official transcripts.) • Three signed letters of reference from current or former employers and professional contacts (Please limit reference letters to three letters written within the past three years.) COMPENSATION The EASTCONN Board of Directors expects to offer a successful candidate an employment contract based on a regionally competitive compensation package commensurate with the new Executive Director’s qualifications credentials and experience.
