RESIDENCE HALL ASSOCIATION The Eastern Kentucky University Residence Hall Association (RHA) is the primary governing body of students living on campus. All students living on campus are members of RHA, but you can be more involved by serving as a leader of your community! RHA’s leadership is comprised of a general assembly of representatives and an executive board of elected student officers who provide overall guidance, direction and vision for RHA. By serving in one of these roles, you gain experience in student leadership and professional development, advocacy and decision-making, as well as programming and community building across residential populations.

BENEFITS OF LIVING ON CAMPUS MORE INTERACTIONS WITH FACULTY AND STAFF Through our Faculty In Residence program, it has never been easier to make connections with EKU faculty and staff. MORE ACADEMIC ASSISTANCE You have easy access to academic assistance from resident advisors and peer mentors living in your hall! MORE SCHOLARSHIPS When you live on campus, your merit scholarships are worth 25 percent more!

GROWTH. PERSPECTIVE. COMMUNITY. When you live on campus, you join the network of opportunities designed to promote

your growth, increase your perspective, and grow your community. The staff in Housing & Residence Life design events in each of these categories that enhance your EKU experience.

COLONEL CHATS Your resident advisor wants to hear from you! Several times per semester, your RA will ask you about your time on campus, and make suggestions based on your responses. By talking to your RA in Colonel Chats, you provide information that helps us improve and customize student engagement.

GPC (GROWTH, PERSPECTIVE AND COMMUNITY) EVENTS GPC Events are fun, all-hall gatherings designed around one of the three core elements of the residential curriculum – growth, perspective and community. You might find yourself tie-dyeing, making s’mores, or doing outdoor yoga while learning about topics like self-care, campus resources, and cultural appreciation.

COMMUNITY BUILDERS It’s easy to meet your fellow floor residents when you attend a Community Builder. These Community Builders, held by your RA, are relaxing and fun social occasions where you can make new friends. Think gaming tournaments, movie nights, and long chats on the patio.

SIGNATURE EVENTS Each semester, Housing & Residence Life hosts campus-wide events that are wellloved traditions at EKU. Show off your skills at Eastern’s Got Talent or challenge yourself to learn more about the big issues students face at Students Honoring Others with Everyday Struggles.

FACULTY IN RESIDENCE Martin Hall is home to our Faculty in Residence program, one of the few such programs in the state of Kentucky. Faculty members apply for a three year rotation in which they live in Martin Hall and assist with events, host intellectual discussions and fireside chats, and are available to help students with their academics.
