THE 21st INTERNATIONAL PROCESSING PACKAGING TECHNOLOGY EVENT FOR ASIA
International Show With An International Cast Visitors may be forgiven if they think they have travelled the world after walking from hall 101 to 106.
T
he exhibition ground at ProPak Asia has been converted into a mini airport where different people from different countries and culture come together and see their businesses take flight. In this edition of the show, international pavilions hailed from three continents, North America, Europe and Asia. North America is represented by PMMI, or the Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies. Its director of the Asia office, Jason Bian, told the show daily team that this is his third time at the show and he believes it is the largest in terms of size. With every intention of promoting the show to their association members, the size of the pavilion looks set to increase from the current number of six. “We will keep promoting ProPak Asia to our members. We believe we will bring more and more members here,” he said.
European Contingent Expanding The continent of Europe is represented by France, Germany, Spain and the UK. Arielle Gernez, project manager, equipment and technology department (agriculture and food industry division) of UBIFrance said: “The show has so much expansion; it used to be from hall 101 to 104. Last year it expanded to hall 105 and
now hall 106. This is a refection of an exhibition that grows every year. This is exactly what we have been doing. When I first came here five years ago, we only had four French companies. We now have 18 and cover 144 sq m.” Growth is also reported by Kai Walliser, manager, trade fairs & exhibitions of Bayern International. He said the show is bigger than last year and the Bavaria pavilion has also grown from 7 to 12 companies compared to last year. When asked about his plans for the show in 2014, he said: “We will be coming back and hopefully find more new companies and help them step into a new market.” According to Rosa Maria Meseguer, internacionalización of amec, the Spanish pavilion is at the show for the first time after a break of absence. This year, they have brought with them some labelling solutions, among others, for the packaging industry. She also remarked that ProPak Asia is “the show” for them in Thailand. Viewing the show as “a meeting place,” is Jim Colwell, chairman of Jacob White (Packaging), a company that has been in Asia since 1985. Located in the UK Pavilion, he said the show is “a useful venue” for him, an exhibitor who sells capital machines. He added his booth is bigger this year because he has a newly developed machine to showcase.
