rowth is all around this year at ProPak Asia. According to Justin Pau, GM of BES, the show has grown from five to six halls. Occupying some 40,000 sq m, he said the show is now more “spread out.” Visitor numbers have also increased. He revealed that on day one, visitor numbers were up 22.5 percent compared to a year ago. Day two followed a similar trend, posting a year on year increase of approximately 14 percent. In addition to strong visitor figures, he reported that feedback from the
show floor was “positive,” and there has been quality visitors coming from countries around Thailand as well. “ProPak Asia is positioned as an Asia show. It is truly a regional show. Historically, we have always enjoyed good visitor traffic. Last year, we officially recorded almost 37,000 visitors. I hope for 38,000 to 40,000 (this year). That would be a good increase,” he said. According to him, the show has been growing annually with the market dictating the pace. With domestic demands across Asia

growing, there is set to be a lot of new market developments, for instance, in countries like Vietnam and Myanmar where ProPak is represented by sister events, ProPak Vietnam and ProPak Myanmar. The latter is a new event happening in 2014. With the amount of activities happening in this region, Mr Pau felt there is enough justification for the show to be an annual affair. He said: “This year, we have 150 launches, either worldwide, Asia or local. I strongly feel there is an annual need for ProPak Asia as a regional Asia show.”
