Consumers of ready meals increasingly shop at hypermarkets and supermarkets where the vast number of refrigerators offers a wide selection. Leading brands gain space in modern grocery retailers by offering more fridges bearing their branding, in order to reach more customers in different areas. Packaged food is predicted to see positive growth over the forecast period due to the increasingly fastpaced and westernised lifestyles of Thai people. Packaged food will penetrate the country more deeply, raising awareness among consumers and influencing their purchasing decisions. In addition, menu variety, packaging design, food quality, freshness, hygiene levels and especially flavour, are the main reasons for leading brands to adjust, develop and remain reactive to consumer demand. Not only that, healthy food will also become more a part of people’s lives, also affecting consumers’ purchase decisions. Players must also incorporate the health awareness trend into their developments.

hrough the combination of sof t wa re a nd ha rdwa re enhancements, Ishida’s RVseries weigher is faster than ever before. More effective feeder vibration optimises product distribution and speeds up weighhead stabilisation, bringing greater speed and accuracy. Faster filtering reduces settling time and readies more heads for inclusion in the calculation, while improved hopper opening and closing cycles reduce the time taken for product transfer. With an independently certif ied IP69K rating, the waterproof model is proven to be more water resistant than ever before. Newly designed f luorine diaphragms, silicon or ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) rubber gaskets combine with new machine fixing patterns to achieve this. The main body has been designed with a nine-degree and six-degree slope on the radial feed cover so that fast washing is followed by rapid draining and drying. The company’s autosetting feature makes setting up for a new product much simpler, while the ability to control the weigher from laptops and handheld devices increases operator freedom. On full power, the weighers use 20 percent less power than recent models. There are also half power and ‘eco’ modes, with the latter offering a 50 percent saving by comparison with full power. Eco mode works well with free-flowing products and is the default when speed is not prioritised.

The system is able to manage up to four Triaflex 4-axis robots (16 axes in total) and two more service axis through one single axis control. Taking advantage of the optimal technical characteristics of the axis control, combined with the company’s reliable systems, this application offers many advantages to the end user: - cost reduction, thanks to the single axis control - higher system modularity - reduced footprint of electrical cabinet - simpler hardware and software system The loading unit can be used in combination with other primary packaging systems or packaging machines to provide turnkey solutions for customers.

Ensuring Sustainability Through Carbon Reduction
C
HEP Pallecon Solutions has developed the iCONIC next generation plastic intermediate bulk container (IBC) in response to growing demand for IBC packaging that can be shipped across continents. Available in the 1,000 x 1,200 mm international footprint, the container generates
sustainable cost advantages, efficiency improvements and waste reduction. The design ensures an improved folding ratio of 3:5:1. The reduction in collapsed container height results in 98 containers that can be stacked in a standard truck compared to 60 for earlier versions. As a result of the improvement in transport space utilisation, the total quantity of trucks required and carbon dioxide emissions can both be decreased. The container is totally recyclable, which reduces oneuse product consumption and the resulting carbon footprint. Featuring lightweight plastic construction, the container provides durability and product protection. It has a large carrying capacity of 1,040 litres, which holds more than 25 percent greater content, in the same space as four 200 litre drums.

After being filled, the squeezable dispenser pack would allow users to draw one to three lines using the content for decoration purposes. The shape and size of the pack are fully customisable based on specific requirements. The separate version of the product allows for multiple content to be stored separately inside the pack for more diverse decoration possibilities. The company’s Wide Open Cut series provides easy to open sealed packages that are children and elderly friendly. The tamper evident feature ensures safety as the sealing part will turn white once the package has been opened. T
he green packaging market across the globe is expected to experience a stable growth from 2015 to 2021, according to Transparency Market Research. Increasing environmental concern is one of the major factors fuelling the demand for green packaging globally. Owing to this factor, considerable efforts are being made for reduction of toxic waste emissions. A green package results in very less toxic emission and causes less pollution in form of landfills. Consequently, there is an increasing demand for green packaging to keep the environment clean and pollution-free. Moreover, owing to increase in governments' initiatives to clean the environment, strict regulations are formulated by governments globally. Manufacturers are now under pressure to use ecofriendly material in packaging and adopt methods that have less adverse impact on environment. Consequently, many industries have to adhere to green packaging as a part of their extended producers responsibility (EPR). This factor is also boosting the market to a great extent. In addition, the use of green packaging gives competitive advantage to industry over other market players since consumers prefer products having sustainable packaging over others. Owing to this factor, the demand for green packaging is increasing and expected to grow rapidly during the forecast period. However, reductions in prof it margin due to increased production costs is one of the factors restraining the growth of green packaging market. Further, limited consumer demand due to lack of awareness regarding green packaging among consumers also limits the industries to switch to green packaging. Despite this, governments are taking initiative to make people aware of the importance and benefits of green packaging. In spite of restraining factors, the green packaging market will stand firm during the forecasted period. In the green packaging market, among application segments, food and beverage packaging holds the largest market share. Food and beverage industries are the largest consumers of green packaging. As the demand for eco-friendly packaging increases among consumers, manufacturers of food and beverage products have started adopting green packaging for their products.Â
