Would you like a new bus service?

Designed and produced by East Hampshire District Council on behalf of the partners involved in the Eco-town project All information correct at time of going to print (19 October 2011)
Whitehill Bordon has been awarded Government funding because of its Eco-town status. Some of this was awarded to provide a new bus service for the town. Hampshire County Council is managing this project for the Eco-town team. We hope to introduce a new, environmentally friendly bus service and we would like your views on the possible options. We have carried out a lot of work to try and identify the most suitable routes for a new bus service. There are restrictions on some routes, for example where country lanes are too narrow for a bus, or would be impassable in winter. We also considered a route through the ford at Mill Chase, but this is unsuitable for a bus service.
Option 2
Route time: 1½ hrs Services per day: 6 This is the same as Option 1, serving Whitehill, Bordon, Lindford and Standford, with an additional link to Greatham, Blackmoor and Longmoor to the south. This would connect to other services going south to Petersfield, and will fill the current gap of public transport in this area. The time taken to complete each circuit increases to 1½ hours, which would provide around 6 services per day.
Lindford

The following options are all suitable for a new service. We would like to know your views on these options, and find out whether you would like a new bus service, and if so, which Town option would be best.

Standford Hogmoor
Hollywater
Route time: 1hr (2 x 30mins) Services per day: 9 This is a local service, serving Whitehill, Bordon, Lindford and Standford. This does not travel to the outlying villages. This option provides the most frequent service, with a full route travel time of 1 hour, in two 30 minute loops. This would provide around 9 services per day and operate in the most densely populated areas of the town.

Option 3
Route time: 3½ hrs Services per day: 2 Lindford This option provides an even wider service, linking the town to the local villages of Headley, Greatham, Oakhanger and Kingsley. This service operates in three Town loops, and returns to the town centre after each one. centre This would provide a service to the outlying villages, but it increases the time taken to compete all threeStandford Hogmoor loops to 3½ hours. This would mean the full 3 loops Hollywater could only be completed twice each day. Kingsley
