A BALD BEAUTY WITH A MISSION Arima-born, Ain Earle is an avid supporter and advocate of Trinidad and Caribbean fashion. Coupled with her educational background in Tourism and Hospitality Management, Ain thrives on attaining quality service, awareness and acceptance of local talents and products. Because of this passion and being introduced to the local fashion scene some years ago, she always thought that more could be done to raise awareness of and respect for the designers around her through her company, The Fashion Arch.

As someone living beautifully with the autoimmune condition Alopecia, Ain is Founder of Bald Beauty, a foundation with a mission to empower others with the condition to live their best lives without hair.

EAST YARD caught up with Ain in January.

EY : How did you get into fashion? Ain : Fashion sort of fell into my lap. At the undergraduate level I studied Tourism Management and for my masters I did Marketing but I always had a passion for fashion and embraced our local

designers. People would always be interested to know where I got my clothes and I found it strange because I really didn’t find it difficult to access local fashion but there obviously was a need. To address this need two colleagues and I started Racked – The Fashion Market, an inclusive shopping experience, exposing fashion and accessories designers and their unique, quality products, all 100% designed and made right here in Trinidad & Tobago, or by a Trinbagonian living abroad.

brand profitability and so three years ago, The Fashion Arch was born, to do just that but now in a wider capacity, collaborating in events held in Barbados, Suriname, Jamaica, Guyana and Washington. EY : Tell us about your foundation, Bald Beauty.

Ain : I started losing my hair around fifteen years ago. I am completely hairless. When I first started to lose my hair, I had fashionable ways to hide it, like wearing headscarves. It took me a while to be OK This event solidified my interest in with myself and for people to be OK with assisting with producing new experiences me. The common thing would be people for networking with clients and buyers, believing that it was cancer or some and guaranteeing that there is continued other illness. When I decided to no longer

cover my head and be OK with no hair, other people with Alopecia started reaching out. This led me to create Bald Beauty, to not only provide a support system for others with the condition, but to also raise overall awareness.

continuously grow. I didn’t always see how strong I was as I am very hard on myself. I am however seeing it more and more now and realizing that it helps me to be able to give that strength to others who need it.

EY : Kudos to you, Ain, on both your achievement in business and also your drive to give back. Why do you think you were placed on planet Earth? What is your purpose?

EY : What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?

Ain : Big question! (LOL) For starters my name is small but powerful, and means, ‘ as precious as the eye.’ I think for me to have this name, has from the start instilled in me a sense of seriousness in the way I live. My father lost an eye the year I was born and so that was the genesis of the name. So I believe I am here use my seriousness in business, and all other aspects of my life to build something strong enough to allow me to give back in meaningful ways. EY : What do you want to be remembered for? Ain : My strength and the ability to 5

Ain : Get a mentor. Take it seriously and trust the process and yourself. Step out of that comfortable space where you don’t allow yourself to be yourself and just do it! EY : Finally Ain, what do you believe? Ain : We are here for a purpose. Find it and seize the day. Carpe Diem! To learn more about The Fashion Arch, visit https://www.thefashionarch.com
