01 ELEMENTS Introduction to project by creating three diagrams from pairs of defined words; one quality word, one activity word. The diagrams are then made into 3 dimensional cubes.

COMBINATION MODEL PHOTOGRAPY

Rhythmically Intersecting | Gradually Expanding Physical Model Joint Sequence One of the 3 combination iterations were chosen to be made into a physical model and further developed. Photographs of the physical model were then taken to show the use of the joint and the sequence in which the joints come apart.

02 ENCLOSURE The next step in the project focused on creating an enclosure for the body within the site. The enclosure focused on the scale and movement on the body and encompassing the body’s measurments.

EMILY AUDET | ENCLOSURE | DESIGN FUNDAMENTALS I | FALL 2021

In this beginning part of Enclosure, pictures of the body moving through two rituals were taken. The two rituals are a Rest | Bathe ritual and a Work | Dine ritual. In the pictures that were taken, limits of the body were drawn in to show how much room the body takes up while doing each ritual.

The isometric sun study is taken to further understand the relationship between the rituals and the sun. The Work ritual is placed facing the East, with this orientation whomever is using the space recieves morning light. While the Rest ritual being at the top of the site allows for sun during mid day, but darkness in the morning and night; times where someone could sleep.

The continuation to the site was exploading specific solids to create planes. By doing so voids within the site were created. These voids allow for filtration and horizontal through the site, as well as additional spaces for added rituals. 18

SITTING AREA

These stairs go from the two Work | Dine rituals to the Rest ritual. This set of stairs was designed to be shaded from any light during the afternoon hours. The reasoning behind this design was to provide a way to whind down for the night, or gradually wake up in the morning.
