Welcome to the 48th Annual Hart Simmentals Power Bull Sale!
With a humble and grateful heart, we wish to welcome you to our 48th Annual Power Bull Sale.
48 Years!!!! Where did that time go?! It seems like only yesterday that we had females and bulls in the show (milk room) barn clipping, washing and meticulously going over them with a fine-tooth comb for the annual trek to Denver. They are truly years that we will never forget and our sometimes-cheeky antics in the yards brought many a face into our pen that we had the privilege of forming into lifelong friendships and associates that we have cherished all these years! Even though we have had to sadly say goodbye to some very special friends and colleagues, who’s valued opinion had a great influence on many cattle operations in this great Simmental community, they are never far from our thoughts. Our commitment in our genetics has stayed true and remains the same as we built a100% Purebred cattle herd with 95% of these individuals being Homo Polled. Our combination of uncompromising frame size and easy keeping traits has stood the test of time and only insures predictability and positivity on the hoof year after year. This proof of performance is completely apparent as we said goodbye to some very special females that contributed nothing short of amazing efforts for us. For the first time since 2007, when Charlie decided to take a step aside and offered a mature female dispersal so he could enjoy his son and grandsons keeping his heritage and legacy alive, we opened our gates and gave other producers an opportunity to acquire some females who have been our absolute pride and joy!! From strictly a numbers standpoint and increased workload, did we feel the need to lessen the females who produced some of the greatest prodigy that we have had the honor of presenting in our previous sales. We will forever be grateful for the roles that each and everyone of these fine females that had a hand in what is present today. Their legacy will still go on as they will keep passing down those tremendous attributes for their new owners. Thank you to those breeders who acquired the backbone of our program that ranged from 17-year-olds and lower who graced us with high selling lots in our sales over the last 15 years. We watched them as babies that matured into stupendous individuals and know they with grace their new owners with that same performance for many years to come.
We believe in the technology that continually raises the standards in research programs and aides the seed stock producer in implementing concrete tools which makes it possible for us to bring a superior product to the table for your evaluation. Total Herd Enrollment, Feeder Profit Calculator, Calf Crop Genomics, Carcass Merritt Program, Cow Herd DNA Roundup are all programs that keeps ingenuity at the forefront helping propel the Simmental community as one of the leading breeds of all cattle industries. So, we hope that you will make it your mission to join us February 15th at the ranch and we look forward to visiting with every one of you!

For the vast majority of cattle programs, where you house your investments plays an extensive part in your decision-making process. Let’s face it- most pastures are not ideal, rocks, streams, hills, badger holes and a 4-wheeler’s nightmare. Those are the reasons why we are so very tough on structure, bone, mass, large hooves- just getting to the essentials can be a workout. 149K’s skeletal makeup assures his longevity as he is as nimble as a cat, with all of the pieces that ensures he will be around for the long haul.

His sons contain all the bells, whistles and correct parts to make a believer in even the most critical cattle producers and is ideal for siring highly marketable sons and daughters. This daughter has not only Integrate on her leader board but also possess another heavy hitter that brought our females into a different realmClub King! We just couldn’t have imagined our program with out these two kings of clout. 156K is going to make an excellent selection to bring as much performance as what is in his history and possible rewrite his own success story.
Eclipse or “Zip Tie” as we call him, came to us by way of the 2018 Bulls of the Bluegrass Sale and from the Wayward Hills Farms known for their impressive show cattle. But it was Zip Tie’s excellent stature and tremendous power and first calving ease #’s that had us at hello. He pushes the envelope in terms of supreme weaning weight data, has a zipper front, nice smooth shoulders, level topped and big backed, rounding out a big ol’ set of hooves and great leg structure! We have mated him to all manner of cows, and he continues to excel and push the boundaries in all the right directions. If stoutness, balance, substance, and quality are what you seek in a herd sire, then his offering for 2023 are the kind you will need to bring potent pounds into your herd for the most financial return.

This deep sided, soft made tank pushed the scale down on a very respectable 854 lb. weaning weight which showcases his explosive growth from birth to weaning. Eclipse has always presented calves that are aggressive at the get go who converted their feed effortlessly into pounds. His smooth muscle pattern follows a very straight line all the way thru from muzzle to tail and should make calving time a whole lot easier.
What an outstanding rookie season “Max” had for us last year and he performed exactly as Justin thought he would the minute he laid eyes on him in Denver. The 4 bulls presented in our 22’ sale were easily some of the best highlighted in his successful campaign and made our selection this year pretty darn easy. His real-world features produce individuals with a substantial amount of rock-solid quality that perform well under ranch conditions and customers impressed with the performance in his sons and daughters. 2023’s offering will be bringing the same infused fine qualities as those previously contributing to this sires stellar expectations.
Out of a first calf heifer Max certainly made his debut as a true standout herd sire that was able to keep an outstanding amount of growth in his first year and brought that level up with his second season. It has been an absolute pleasure to watch these boys doing exactly what calves are supposed to do- grow, grow, grow! Homeland’s grandam produced many sale highlighted bulls under her belt and we expect her Hollow Point daughter to join in the same performance that made her grandmother such a standout.

The Sweet Peas from the Hart of our Herd
You know it has never been easy to see one of our girls leave this ranch as they are so totally intertwined with our hearts. We see them every day, eat dinner with them more than one could imagine, wine and dine them when AI season rolls around, sit up with them all hours of the night helping them bring their babies into this world and tell them it will be ok. When we started this venture three years ago it couldn’t have been more difficult as we went back and forth about do we let her go, no we are keeping her, nope she’s in- frankly our heads were spinning. They are your children- we sometimes spend more time with them than we do our own children and spouses- and when we had to say goodbye to half of our herd, no one had a dry eye. Imagine looking a 17-year-old lady in the eye and wishing she could understand you as you load her into a semi, in a blizzard, and send her on her way to a new adventure, but it is for someone else’s adventure. We know they are in the most capable hands and could easily get in the pickup and give them a visit-but saying goodbye once was hard enough. So, believe us when we say this is never an easy choice but realize sometimes they are destined for different paths and wish them godspeed and place them in their new owners hands!
