Welcome to our 35th Annual Simmental, Sim-Angus & Angus Production Sale! This year marks our 35th annual production sale! Man, how time flies! That is 35 years of striving to offer you the best Simmental and Angus cattle that fit the times and needs of all cattlemen and women. To all of our customers who have supported us through those years, we are truly humbled and appreciative of your business! Every year we find ourselves saying that we think this is the best set we have to offer, and that comment certainly rings true for these cattle. We believe there is something for everyone in this high quality set! We look forward to seeing and working with our customers of the past, and are very eager to do the same with our customers of the future! Every year, our open heifers sold on the sale are eligible for a futurity show held mid summer at the Ruth Farm following the sale. With $1500 of total winnings over 9 places, this is a very worthwhile event. The futurity is not limited to just 4-H and FFA members. It is open to anybody purchasing heifers at our sale. These two heifers are from our W83 donor who was a many time winner for us in her showing days and is now notorious for making top notch females and these two are no exception! These heifers are full sibs to our high selling open last year and high selling bred. That bred later went on to sell her first calf for $6,500 for RB Angus. I look for these two females to follow the same path as their sisters, to have successful show careers and then make someone a lot of money as producers. D155 offers a lot of power in her middle with a great hip and a beautiful front third. D107 has similar qualities and might be a touch stouter. You can pick which one you like better sale day but it might be difficult because they are both first class! Halter broke and ready to show!

This heifer has been a pasture favorite all summer long and personally, I find her right at the very top of my list. Her dam is an up and coming donor for Sloup Simmentals and she is also a full sib to Mr. Confidence. We all know how good these Lock N Load cattle are and what they go on to do down the road in production. We really think this one would be hard to get around in the show ring. It is hard to make a heifer this long spined, this correct and this powerful, all while tying into a beautiful front one third. She is extremely gentle and ready for the show ring.

Explanation of How to Utilize API and TI Indexes

First, determine which index to use; if you’re keeping replacements use API, if not, TI. Then, just as with EPDs, zero in on the unit difference between bulls. (As described to the left, index units are in dollars per cow exposed.) The difference can be used to determine how much a bull is worth compared to another. Or, put another way, how much you can pay for one bull compared to another. For example, when buying an all-purpose-type sire, you can quickly figure a bull scoring +100 for API is worth an extra $6,000 over a $50 bull if both are exposed to 30 cows over 4 years ($50 diff. x 30 hd. x 4 yr. = $6,000).
