Hello riding superstars!!!! As the end of the year approaches, I’m just curious – how are your goals for 2013 going? Are you on track? There is only this month left to take action and get results! Where are you? Are you sailing full steam ahead, ticking off goals as you go, on track or even ahead of schedule? Or are you falling behind, you haven’t been able to tick off as much as you wanted to, and are feeling a little overwhelmed? Or are you completely disillusioned with the whole thing, you can’t remember the motivation and promises you made in January and you’re thinking of just coasting through, and in 2014 making it your year? How many of us do that? Set a goal, then realise horror of horrors – it’s going to take work to get it! That it’s ‘hard’, ‘impossible’, ‘not worth it’. Unfortunately, I see too many people give up at this point. They thought life was meant to be easy, and they don’t get going when the going gets hard… Not you I’m sure … but other people! So, I encourage all of you to take some time before the Christmas rush, and reflect on how your life has been the last 12 months. If you’re happy with it, you are growing, achieving results and you can see moving forward like this will get you to where you want to go – then rock on! But if you realise you have sat still, not achieved what you wanted, and are not moving forward in a way that will mean this will change, then what are you waiting for? Jonathan Winters puts it best ”if your ship doesn’t come in, swim out to it!” For those of you that maybe are needing a little extra motivation, and realise that you may need to change some of your behaviour to get your goals – the perhaps my “Create 2014 to be Your Best Riding Year Yet” workshop is right for you! We ran the workshop last month in November, and we have had such an overwhelming response with people wanting to do it via correspondence, that we thought we would extend the offer, and give you the opportunity to do this workshop too! Click here to join us and for more information! Can’t wait t help you make 2014 ROCK! To Your Success, YOUR RIDING SUCCESS MONTHLY | December 2013 | 2

FROM THE HORSES MOUTH | ABE’S PERSPECTIVE Hey super riders! My name is Abe and I am Natasha’s superstar Friesian stallion and her one and only horse she likes to ride. I told her I thought it was very unfair that she was the only one to share how to ride - as lets’ face it... I’m the one that really makes it all happen - so this is my chance to teach you how to really ride a horse... with advice straight from the horses mouth!

Hey Friesian Lovers!! I know Tash is all excited about her goal setting for next year! It was hard for her to miss the big competitions this year... I secretly loved my holiday but don't tell her that!

I know I have been weight training but they are big goals and we will have to work really hard to achieve them!

First quarter goals - JanMar 2014 It is 31st March 2014 and I have achieved: - more dinner as I am working harder :)

So I thought I should make up my own goals for 2014. So here they are:

So for 2014 she has made posters of all the horses goals separated into months!!! I am a bit awed at her plans for me!!! They include DWTS, Nationals, Equitana, Vic Champs, and these percentages that I have never received before!

I trust your goals excite you and make you ready to make 2014 your best riding year yet. I added to Tash's goals - give Abe a carrot every day, so make sure you add that to yours as well!!!! I hope you have a great Christmas! I am very excited as I will become a godfather to a very special child Tash's baby! I have already looked after it for 9 months making sure Tash was ok on my back and soon I get to see her!

Anyway give your horse a carrot from me! Until next time enjoy your riding and give your horse a carrot for me! :) Until next time enjoy your riding and give your horse a carrot for me! :)

FROM THE EXPERTS | NATASHA ALTHOFF

GETTING IT RIGHT Every day, in every way, I am getting better and better. ~ Emile Coue I have had a few clients lately who have been doing the whole “I’m not good enough” thing. So I thought this month I would explore the notion of getting it right, and the addiction a lot of people have to attaining perfection. My mentor once said to me that people who are perfectionists are actually saying they have no standards. Now this can be interpreted in many ways but I took it to mean perfection cannot exist. It’s based on a belief that something cannot be improved or made better. Now we know logically that this is not true. Anything can always be better. So rather than seeking perfection I ask that my team and my clients strive for CANI – Constant And Never-ending Improvement. This means we never arrive, we never reach a standard we are happy to settle for, and we never sit in mediocrity. Now I love doing it in my business. In business there are KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) and measurable outcomes and real data. But how do you do it with your riding?

understand that don’t you? I don’t think you have ever ridden your horse thinking “oh I know how to do this but I am consciously choosing to do it the wrong way and getting the wrong result”. So sometimes we ride well and sometimes we ride not so well. I always say when the horse goes well – gee I’m riding well today, and when he goes not so well – I say gee Tash you’re riding is very interesting today! What about when I have a bad test or a bad ride? Well firstly I don’t label it as such. It’s interesting, or it’s a tremendous learning opportunity or a marvelous chance to grow and become better. And it’s exciting! We only learn, grow and develop from less than ideal situations! When we have a sensational ride we enjoy it but we don’t learn as much as when it all falls apart. So it’s not a time to be sad, it’s a time to become EXCITED about it! Another mentor says “quality problems have quality results”. You want high quality problems so that you can grow and learn, and overcome the challenge to get an even better high quality result.

The first thing is KNOWING and LOVING you are the best rider you can be today, doing your best with the knowledge and resources available to you at the present moment and tomorrow you will be better. If you KNEW how to do better you would. You

GETTING IT RIGHT So to recap 1.

2.

You are the best rider you can be today. You are doing the best you can with the knowledge and resources available to you at the present moment. If you knew how to do better, you would. And the best part – tomorrow you will be better. Get excited about your problems – they are not problems, they are challenges, opportunities to grow, a chance to develop into your full potential. How can you not get excited about that!!! !

So if you are doing your best with what you have in the present moment, and you are excited about your opportunities to develop, how can you be anything but pumped, excited and thrilled to be out there riding every day?!?! Why would you, or how could

you even have time for, be bothered with or entertain the notion of “I’m not good enough yet”? I’m sure none of you have but you know of someone that does. Not you of course! ! But others that have used the excuses: “I don’t know enough” “I can’t do it” “I can’t understand it” “I shouldn’t” “I can’t do that level yet” “I’ll never be good enough for that/at that” Now with all those excuses all I can say is “YES”! But add the words - right now but I will. “I don’t know enough right now, but I will” “I can’t do it right now, but I will” “I can’t understand it right now, but I will” “I shouldn’t do that right now, but I will” “I can’t do that level right now, but I will” Be ok with the rider you are TODAY! Be ok with the progress you have already made TODAY, be accepting, tolerant and nice to you TODAY! I’m not saying don’t strive, work, demand for more! You definitely should! I push for more than I can even conceive from

myself, my clients and my team every day. But I am also accepting of “my limit for T O D AY i s … ” ! ! A f a b u l o u s q u o t e i s “yesterday’s efforts will get you yesterdays results” if you want more results you need to put in more effort. This is where CANI fits in perfectly. Do your best today. And tomorrow make it better, and continue and continue and continue forever! Constant and Never-ending Improvement. Now a lot of people hear that and say oh my god Tash, isn’t that exhausting? You never can stop, you never can relax. I laugh! Why would I want to stop? Why would I want to relax in my business and stop giving amazing value and experience to my clients? Why would I want to relax on my horse and get the same mediocre scores for the rest of my competition career? Relaxing is for the beach! It’s not for everyday life! Mediocrity is exhausting. Settling for average is tiring. CANI is invigorating, exciting and means my life is constantly different and challenged. If you are not growing you are dying. So I choose to grow. What do you choose? !

Create 2014 to be Y!r Best Ri#ng Year Yet In November we had a brand new workshop - Create 2014 to be Your Best Riding Year Yet! - and we through we would share some of their experiences with you:

I learned that I have to discover what lights up the people in my life by having a difficult discussion - I now find that I have looking forward to planning our lives together!

“Being a member of the Dream Team, I had known about Natasha’s goalsetting workshop for a while, and was really looking forward to it. I couldn’t pick a favourite part of the workshop - I loved all of it, from the diaries, to the vision boards and the planning! Natasha was a rockstar presenter, even at 8 months pregnant.

The best part of the workshop was the goalsetting - especially in the longer term - like 5-10 years. Natasha was a fantastic presenter - she was interesting, as well as understanding :)” -Gina “I am a member of the Dream Team so this workshop was a part of that, but I really needed to come to take back control of my vision and my time.

This workshop would be great for people who are struggling to know what they want and how to get there anyone who has goals they want to achieve.”

I loved planning my long term goals - how to break it down so that each part is manageable, and learning where my priorities sit.

- Shauleen “I found out about the Create 2014 to be Your Best Year Yet initially from Facebook - I decided that I wanted to come to become a better rider and to learn some new strategies to help me get there. I have realised from the workshop that I need to work on my whole life rather than just my riding, which was scary, although after completing the workshop I am now excited to see what the future brings.

Natasha had such great energy - she made the whole weekend interesting and fun, while we were learning heaps at the same time. I would recommend this workshop to anyone who it lost and lacking future direction, to help them find direction and to improve their goalsetting.” - Liz

Create 2014 to be Y!r Best Ri#ng Year Yet “I found out about the Your Riding Success goalsetting workshop through Ebony Park - I knew I wanted more, but didn’t have the tools to know where to start and needed to step outside of my comfort zone.

“I found out about the goalsetting workshop via email - the best email I have ever had! I participated in the week-long online goalsetting week through facebook, and found the facebook group really awesome and supportive.

I was very anxious about coming to the workshop - I have anxiety about new things and groups of people but I was made to feel very welcome.

I wanted to come to the workshop because I had a very scary desire to change and be better and to STAY better by design.

I learned that it’s ok to do something for me, and I know where I am going. Failure to plan is a plan to fail (this means so much more now after the workshop).

Before coming to the workshop I was scared that I would be too old for the workshop, that I wouldn’t understand or keep up, and that I would say silly things... this changed once I came to the workshop - Natasha was fabulous, fun interesting and great to look at and watch because of her attitude. The workshop was so informative I got so much out of it!

My favourite part of the workshop was letting go, knowing what has been holding me back, getting myself on the right track by planning and goalsetting. I didn’t realise how much I was getting in the way of my riding future - if I had realised I would have done Natasha’s Breakthrough to Your Riding Success before this workshop!

The best thing is a framework to design my future around, and actually creating goals and plans - and having the tools to ACHIEVE these goals.

Tash helped me take a huge step in finding out what is holding me back - I would recommend this workshop to a rider that wants to make riding goals and doesn’t quite know how to go about it or where to start.”

My favourite part was listening to the others relate their experiences and learning that others can have the same or similar problems. Natasha was really encouraging, and was great at leading us to a better path and direction.

- Danielle

The workshop was great - it has given me the possibilities and options and directions for the future.” - Lauren Baker

NEED TO KNOW | NATASHA ALTHOFF CHANGING YOUR FOCUS “You must constantly ask yourself these questions: Who am I around? What are they doing to me? What have they got me reading? What have they got me saying? Where do they have me going? What do they have me thinking? And most important, what do they have me becoming? Then ask yourself the big question: Is that okay?” – Jim Rohn I love Jim

When I hang out with achievers, who make things happen, who remind me of my strengths, the world is suddenly a rich and exciting place. Same world. What’s changed? Focus.

Focus on what you want, or focus on what you don’t want.

We are our environment. No exceptions. I think they are important questions to answer from time to time, don’t you think? I know for me – if I hang out with small minded people, who complain a lot, and remind me of my shortcomings, the world suddenly looks like a hard and cold place.

“Hi Tash,

I wanted to start by thanking you for your help. I love watching your videos! Thank you for all your help - I will continue to watch your videos and try to get better!

Focus on what you do have, or focus on what you don’t Focus on what you can do, or focus on what you can’t

Cool guy

Check out all the Success Stories and Feedback we have received this month at YRS HQ!!

Your choice But I know your results will be directly proportional to the answers you have for those questions. To Your Success!!!

Take care :)” Erica “I have to say your videos are really great. I've been putting pressure on myself to be good at everything all at once and now I'm breaking it down a little at a time. For example my canter transition was rubbish as my sitting trot was rubbish so I watched your videos and I'm improving my sitting trot :) I just hope my wonderful horse forgives me and hope he's patient to know that we will get there and we will be competing and winning!!!!!” - Anna
