“From that day, I decided that I was going to live my life helping brands thrive through creative content that will capture their audiences.”

As a child, I loved the idea of entrepreneurship and bringing big franchises into reality. But unfortunately, I grew up in a country where creativity and business could not mix. Even though I loved business, my love for creativity and bringing ideas to life through art and words consumed me more. At that time, I saw going into business as a world of complex decisions and bland solutions, which prompted my decision to shift from that spectrum into a world of endless possibilities. I found media communications! The excitement I felt going into my first class of college couldn’t be contained. I was going to be able to create my words and ideas and share it with people. The head instructor worked into the classroom and I would never forget what she said; “Brands need you to help them communicate through media.” What was this word she just said? Brands? I had never heard of the word. At first, I thought it was an error, but I proceeded to ask. She said, “brands are businesses.” I was shook! I had entered into a new world where business allowed great room for creativity. I inquired more and my former dream came back. From that day, I decided that I was going to live my life helping brands thrive through creative content that will capture their audiences.

EDITOR’S LETTER

I began to learn new skills to actualize this dream. I started with video storytelling. The fancy tricks on the television and music videos reeled me in. I wanted to be a video storyteller for brands! That was my dream. Then as I learned more about media, I began to dive into different areas like web design, graphic design, and print. I had found my love and dwelling place! I began to see art as not just an expression of one’s self but as a connection to different people. It was all around me in the books I had read, the ads on the billboards and the magazines I occasionally read. They were telling a story in order to gain a reaction and most times those reactions came from me. I found that a minimal design made me choose a product over another and that a fancy one captured my attention more to see the details. This was what I wanted to do! I wanted to create graphic content that brought audiences to businesses! I began calling myself a brand designer. Yes, that was me! I was that young girl that could transform your business and product into something beautiful for people to see. So here I am today! Now a woman, still wanting to pursue this career dream. I am a storytelling brand designer, whose passion is in connecting brands to audiences. I hope to help brands stand out and at the same time push out positive messages. This is what drives me and trust me this force never ends.

HELLO!

WHY GREY DOG MEDIA I simply want to work for Grey Dog Media. Why you may ask. The answer is simply - content is your passion just like it is for me. Looking at the work that Grey Dog Media does, these words come to mind - fresh, life, color and modern. Words that reflect what I want to create as a designer. Content that attracts, easily communicates and transforms brands into something amazing. I desire to collaborate with people that get brand stories into the hands and bags of audiences. I want to help create content that makes businesses bigger than they ever thought they could go and I wish to accomplish this with Grey Dog Media. Right now as your reading this, you’re probably thinking “what sets her out from the other candidates?” It is the fact that I’m ready to go above and beyond to communicate. The fact that I created this proves it. My drive for excellence is forever shining and I hope to show this at Grey Dog Media. Getting to work at Grey Dog Media, no matter the department will truly be an honor for me. I know that I’ll observe, learn, create and grow.

10 Reasons why she’s the TOP candidate 1.

I believe Grey Dog should hire me because of my push for excellence in communication. I understand that Grey Dog Media always pushes for innovation and creativity when it comes to transforming brand images and that’s one value that I truly embody. When it comes to proper storytelling and effective communication, I always push my ability to communicate better.

3.

I’m a multi-tasking machine. As a freelancer, I created different media mediums and in some cases, I had to create them in the same time frame. Once, I had to create a website and an online magazine at the same time for tight deadlines. Also while in University, I had to develop a social media and marketing campaign plan at the same time within a span of 3 weeks.

Content is my passion! When working on creative projects and wanting to tell a story for a brand, I go the distance to develop innovative ideas that will truly connect. My passion motivates me and it’s one that doesn’t end. In fact it keeps on growing. I’ve learnt so much media mediums because of its thirst. I want to connect with people and help brands thrive and exceed that.

2.

4.

Over the past 2 years, I’ve gained experience in creating graphic materials for brands and creative projects. I have a strong understanding of how to create visuals that correspond and represent brand guidelines and identity.

5.

Additionally, I’m really strong with tools. Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop are my babies and everyday, I learn new things about them.

17

I believe that I have the sophisticated sense of design that Grey Dog Media is looking for. My design look and feel is sophisticted, minimal, editorial and modern. This is because I believe it communicates easier. Like Grey Dog Media, I develop designs to explain complicated concepts in simple terms.

6.

I understand that this position is looking for entry level graphic designers. If that’s it, I’m your girl! But additionally, I am an entry level designer that has a desire to learn and quickly. An example is when I learnt how to develop an audio track with Adobe Audition in the span of 2 weeks. I was determined to create a project and went ahead to learn. Also to grow my skill in brand design, I participated in the daily logo challenge on Instagram.

8.

7.

I have extremely strong work ethic. When working on projects, I like to plan ahead of time to sure that all things are ready for the commercement of a project. I create a schedule, checklist and storyboard, which stay plastered on my room wall until the deadline is met.

All my life, I’ve been in fast paced enviroments and have worked with people with very high standards. First of all, I grew up with African parents and right from when I was four, I started learning how to cook. I boiled my first pot of rice at five and cooked my first fish at six. I attended a fast-paced University, with no summer breaks and very tight deadlines. Each course had to be completed within a month. Therefore, I have experience in creating good work with tight deadlines.

9.

This is the last point and I’m sure you are expecting me to say something spectular. But instead, I want you to do something this time. I want you to scroll back up and come back down. As you glance once again at this interactive resume, I hope that you see a spark in me. A spark that can grow into a fire with Grey Dog Media.
