Many customers are learning about our Bibz Analytics ranks and what they are derived from. Let’s take a break from the machine learning element and focus on the workflow. Let’s pivot to what it looks like in the day-to-day. Bibz Analytics houses different data-driven tools to streamline selection decisions.
The first are predictive performance ranks, which are at the system level or on a branch-by-branch basis.
A high system-level rank shows predicted popularity of a title across your whole system. If this title isn’t by an instantly recognized author, it can be treated as a blockbuster author who is building holds. In the case of the unrecognized or debut authors, this is going to save on research time.
The other is the Branch Rank, which is a window into community reading trends, showing where titles have their best chance of being found. Consider midlist authors who have been publishing for a long time. It’s possible that interest is waning. Branch Ranks will show where the readers are, which may lead to purchasing fewer copies overall, saving more budget for more collection variety.
We also offer related content for a look at recent publishing and use. This includes titles that are a content match, have been added in the last 3 years, and have circulated. You don’t have to rely on the past performance of the same author only. This is an instant comparison.
Then there are the circulation-based ranks: the Launch Rank, showing how a title performs in the first 12 months, and the Evaluated Rank. On day one of month 13 the evaluated performance is set and becomes a data point for future analysis. Both can be used in repurchasing decisions.
All of this to say, for as much seeming simplicity is on display, there’s also a lot of sophisticated workflow efficiency baked into Bibz Analytics.
