Brodart LittleOne Catalog: Issue 4 | Winter 2024

Page 1

Explore - Experience - Educate!

This LittleOne catalog features books that help young readers understand appropriate behavior, improve their social skills, and learn about the world around them. Through reading we experience varying emotions, explore new interests, find new ways to interact with friends and family. Discover books that stimulate and expand growing imaginations, providing a background to help readers understand the world and their place in it. Reading about diverse life situations teaches us the different ways that problems are solved. In books, we discover other ways of seeing the world.

The focus for this catalog is to share new fiction and nonfiction books from a broad range of topics, including ecology, diversity, fantasy, poetry, sports titles, and debut authors. These new books come from fresh and familiar voices, and from publishers large and small. You will notice that most of these selections publish September-December 2024 and are titles we have not previously featured.

Join our Tell Me More: Collection Connection webinar on January 8, 2025, at 2:00 PM ET. We will introduce some key titles publishing in the first half of the year from some of our favorite authors and publishers. Children's & Young Adult Programs Manager Erica Sommer and Collection Development colleagues Suzy Hawley, Gwen Vanderhage, and Elizabeth Tanguma will be presenting. Sign up to join us here. We’re looking forward to sharing these forthcoming titles with you!

Enjoy!

Erica's Corner

Greetings, librarians!

We launched our partnership with Bound to Stay Bound Books (BTSB) in the beginning of 2024, allowing Brodart to sell their prebound editions to public libraries. Picture books, easy readers, graphic novels, manga, nonfiction, Spanish, and bilingual editions are all available in this sturdy format. I’m thrilled to introduce Lori Smith, BTSB’s Vice President & General Manager, who will tell us more about BTSB.

Q: For those who don’t already know, can you tell us a little about BTSB’s history and the binding process?

A: BTSB has been a trusted partner to libraries since 1920, offering durable, prebound children’s and YA books that stand the test of time. Our binding process exceeds industry standards, transforming trade editions into reinforced volumes with sturdy, sewn bindings and tough covers. This ensures our books withstand countless checkouts while providing young readers with reliable access to beloved stories.

Q: How has BTSB’s prebind title mix changed as library needs have shifted into the 21st century?

A: In recent years, we’ve expanded our title selection to reflect the growing demand for diverse voices, graphic novels, SEL and STEM-related content. As libraries strive to meet the needs of modern readers, we continue to prioritize titles that resonate with today’s youth, offering inclusive and engaging options across a range of genres.

Q: What hasn’t changed?

A: Our commitment to quality and service remains steadfast. BTSB’s mission has always been to support libraries by providing durable books that help foster a love of reading in young audiences. While trends evolve, our dedication to preserving stories and supporting literacy stays the same.

Q: Are there any recent or forthcoming series or prebind offerings coming in 2025 that you are excited to tell us about?

A: Absolutely! Every title we add in our BTSB prebound format is a must-have in libraries. In 2025, we’re excited to offer prebound editions of several highly anticipated new series and continuations, including Everything Taylor Swift, City Spies, Baby-Sitters Club, Bad Guys, Hunger Games, and Owl Diaries just to name a few. There are so many new titles coming out in the Spring of 2025 by wonderful authors such as Candace Fleming, Kwame Alexander, Stuart Gibbs, Jory John, Tracey West, Mo Willems, and many more! Additionally, we’re continuing to expand our selection of Spanish and bilingual books, ensuring libraries have resources to serve their diverse communities.

Q: Is there anything else you’d like to add?

A: As we approach our 105th anniversary on January 20, 2025, we’re grateful to librarians and educators who share our vision of empowering young readers. We’re honored to continue supporting your work and look forward to the stories yet to be told.

If you’d like to receive a BTSB sample book, email bys@brodart.com and I’ll get one right out to you. Learn more about the BTSB Difference here, and subscribe to our BookWorm newsletter for lists of forthcoming and bestselling BTSB editions each month.

We hope to see you as we kick off 2025 on January 8th at 2PM in our FREE Tell Me More: Winter-Spring Collection Connection webinar previewing forthcoming titles; click to register.

Happy reading!
