Chat Room or something like I said to do with opulence and that could be from Barquoe, Rococo, 19th century sub-continent India or it could be from the ottoman empire, it could be from the silk route, it could be from the Greek or anywhere as long there is a certain element of opulence.” Talking about the making of bridal dress and client-couturier relationship Perwani told that it is extremely important for a designer to understand the clients body the clients mind, the silhouette and exactly what client wants. “When client comes to us we ask them what the theme of the wedding is, what the dulha is wearing, and what kind of jewelry she would be wearing and then we would design the dress according to that. While that stage is happening we communicate with the client back and forth so that they can come back and take a look at the fabric till the final fitting.” On a query about themes which are sometimes so personal to the designer and then he turns it into a trend, the designer said, “I think some of the designers tend to work internationally. We as a design house will tend to make a tunic and the kurta but we will also work with what’s pertaining to International trends. In the last two years surprisingly whatever we have designed has become an international trend. For example the Frida Khalo collection which we did and a year later the house of Valentino did Frida khalo so we are very with the International trends.” As a designer Perwani said, “I like the fact that a gorgeous beautiful woman is wearing my dress and enjoying it, I like the idea that I custom designed it for her, and I think that most fashion designers enjoy the fact that they make beautiful clothes.” Asking about what he wish people would understand about working in the fashion industry the designer said, “I think people need to understand that the fashion Industry is just not about the glitz and the glamour. There is a lot of hard work and creative ideas and a lot of effort that goes in putting up a collection and to be able to understand a design house and their inspiration that lacks in Pakistan and takes long for people to understand.” About the importance’s of social media and fashion week, Perwani is in view that social media has its ups and downs and its perks. “I don’t know how it affect our business because the websites a part of social media, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook those are the entire mediums that we also use to promote our brand. I think social media is a great deterrent EBUZZ

People need to understand that the fashion Industry is just not about the glitz and the glamour. There is a lot of hard work and creative ideas and a lot of effort that goes in putting up a collection to what is current and what people are saying and I think social media is also there’s so much Newsfeed that’s happening on social media that the shelf life of any kind of criticism tends to be very low.” He further added that it’s very important for a designer to participate in the fashion weeks because it regulates the designer, keeps you on your toes to create spring/ summer, fall/winter collections. The creative designer also feels that the Pakistani Fashion Landscape has evolved tremendously. “We have got a regulation of Fashion, we have got an idea that there’s is awareness to our consumers about our spring/summer, fall/winter collections and so the consumer has now started buying collections and they know when it’s available. When the collection will be coming out and that’s fantastic for Pakistan’s retail Industry” said Perwani. He was in view that Pakistan needs to look at fashion, which is a textile producing country as a form of business rather than enjoyment and we need to understand that from the five years of retailing the perspective has totally changed in Pakistan now it’s more about the business of fashion more than anything else. When asked about how he truly feel to see all your hard work being recognized by the most powerful critics and fashion magazines in the world, the designer said, “ For a design house and for a designer in Pakistan I think we are the only design house that has won International award and recognition. A couple of years ago when Vogue voted us as the most powerful fashion houses to look out for in the 21st century we were very flattered. This year the European fashion council is giving us an award for the 6th most innovative design house in the world and it has been fantastic. When we did Milan

we got featured in the ten pages of the Italian book that was amazing, as we got featured in the world trends, bag trend and accessories, it was very hearting to see that kind of work came out in Pakistan and it’s got a true International feel.” “I think more than anything else if the designer is creative he or she will have a potential in the Pakistani market to immediately come in limelight and move forward. In terms of retail you must push your product all over Pakistan if you want to do sales as a designer.” Perwani has no regrets regarding his career. “I don’t think I haven’t made any carrier mistakes as such we have been a very successful brand for the last 21 years.” The first thing he looks into another person’s outfit is detailing and Perwani’s fashion rule, that he would never break is not to never wear white shoes and he would love to style Madonna in Barcelona which is one of his favorite cities. About the fashion trends of 2015, Perwani said, he think fashion trends regenerate every eight years and everything you see now has already been done in fashion. “Monochromatic seems to be the trend right now, everything is black and white and lots of geometric and this is something that comes up every eight years.” The passionate designer also shared his future plans. Soon he will be acting in films. “This year we are also doing two films and I am acting in two films and this year we have opened an outlet in Hyderabad and we are planning to open 2-3 more outlets in the city this coming year.”

By Fakhra Rafique

Highly recommended skin regime is cleansing, exfoliating and moisturizing. Markets are flooded with lots of brands with different products to follow some skin regime, but its not easy to follow any specific routine. Here we are suggesting you some home made tips to safe you from different skin problems.

Cleansing: Take two table spoon of fresh cow raw milk, take a swab of cotton, dip it in milk and softly apply that raw milk all over your face and EBUZZ

neck, repeat it again leave your skin for 10 minutes than rinse your face with fresh water. This is the best natural way to clean your face to have a glowing skin.

Exfoliating: Take three chopped almonds, add one table spoon sugar, and add one tea spoon honey and 3 drops of rose water or olive oil, mix all, and now your scrub is ready to use. Apply this mixture over your face softly and rub it for one minute only. Try this once in a week. Main purpose to exfoliate is to remove dead skin and impurities.

mash it and apply that paste all over your face, leave it for 10 mintues. Wash your face with water. Apply this mask once in a week. You will feel the difference, this tip work magically. I hope these tips will make your skin smooth and glowly. I have tested and tried these tips and never found any side effects but if you have any skin issues then it is highly recommended to test these tips over you wrist before applying them on your face.

Moisturizing: Take one table spoon of rose water, one tea spoon of glycerin, 5-6 drops of lemon, one tea spoon of almond oil, mix all and apply this mixture over your face, hand and feet. Keep the remaining liquid in fridge. It’s highly recommended to make this mixture every week. Try this daily. Food & Life-Fast & Slow By Tahir Wadood Malik I took one of my friend outside for food who came from abroad. On the way I asked him what food he would like to have, he said ‘fast’ ; then he looked at me and asked what food you like, I said slow and we both laughed. Finally settling for chicken karahi in butter and black pepper with kulchay; the food was washed down with a cold soft drink of red colour for him and white for me – our concession to colours! This got me thinking of how our food choices have changed over the years, from a time when no fast food existed and the concept of rebellion from home food was ‘bun kebab’ and lemon soda from a goliwali bottle down the street, or in the nearby bazaar! As just winters have passed, my thoughts went back to many winters ago and the preparation for welcoming the winters with ‘food with warm taseer (effect of eating)!’ Those days it was the norm in all houses to welcome winters with some especially prepared appetizingly tasty fooditems made with mothers loving care to offset the effects of the cold weather and children would look forward to these treats being prepared ready so these could be eaten. A list of things which would go into the preparation of these foods would be prepared and someone tasked with the trip to the bazaar to buy these ingredients from designated shops. This was an envious task for whoever

went to buy would get to taste the almonds, cardamoms, the raisin, the walnut kernels(nutmeat), peanuts, and pine nuts. And the norm of asking for a getting “chunga” which can loosely be translated as free extra for the buyer! This term sadly is not even known to many shopkeepers today! The inventoryof foods that were prepared is long, however some names are, kanji (drink made of black carrots fermentedwith herbs and water); pinni(ground pulse balls, sautéed with flour and cooked in sugar syrup); khoey kay parey(soft round pastry with cardamom seeds, pistachio & almonds);panjeeri (semolina sweet with assorted nuts); and the more enterprising mothers made hunter beef. Then the all-time favorite goat trotters in steaming hot curry eaten with thick bread; sarsoonkasaagwith paneer (dish of mustard leaf with cottage cheese) eaten with bread made of corn flour (makkaiki roti); mixed vegetables stew (white with milk) or without; and the fish dishes, curry, baked, fried and the pakoras; and many more such mouthwatering delights that made winter foods a treat to eat! What days what delicacies. Lost forever to the fast food craze and food supplement and diet pills fad of today! And the sad fact of life that we do not have time for making these delicacies now! As I think of all these foods and times,

which I had lightheartedly called “slow food” I got nostalgic for some other things that we have not passed on to our children today. Things like grandmother’s storytelling, sitting around a wood fireand listening to elder’s stories and learning from these. Things that now we do not have the inclination for, or time, or patience to do. Another legacy of societal values gone by the board! However back to food – slow or fast is not the issue – the point is nutrition, food value, hygienic preparation and when we see news reports of contaminated meat, total disregard of hygienic conditions in kitchens and bakeries, health issues of food handlers, and reuse of oils and other items beyond useable life on a regular basis. These and related issues which affect the health of our loved ones for people like me who are used to a different way of food preparation and consumption, is alarming and saddening. However as life gets faster and food choices get fast, the life in the slow lane gets relegated to nostalgia and dream. Is there more than food at stake here? An entire generation has grown up “fast,” exposed to the internet, smart phones, tabs (something that elders kept on children earlier!), and even education taking place in tuition centers offering crash courses. So how do we get back to the slow food and life values? Or do we need to let things get faster?

Unlike the typical rave or gig that you usually get to experience in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, the recently held Red Bull Track Club opened new avenues for the unexplored DJ community of Pakistan. For weeks young aspiring DJs registered on trackclub.redbull.pk, and after much consideration eight were selected to compete for the Top DJ Title. Red Bull Track Club was divided into three rounds: Deep House (3 minutes), Minimal (5 minutes) and Tech House (10 minutes). After a nail biting, one-on-one clash between the eight DJs, DJ Nauman from Beaconhouse National University, Lahore claimed the ‘Top DJ Title’ and became the winner of the first-ever Red Bull Track Club in Pakistan. Here’s an inside scoop on the promising young DJ from Lahore. Q. Tell us a little about yourself. 52 Food for Gorgeous

Skin & Hair The secret to healthier hair and glowing skin is not in your makeup case. It’s in your diet. Let’s check out which super foods will give you gorgeous skin and beautiful hair.

Walnuts

You don’t need to eat cupfuls of walnuts to enjoy their many benefits: smoother skin, healthy hair, brighter eyes, and strong bones. Get your daily dose of nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin E by eating a handful by themselves or throwing some in your salad, pasta, or dessert.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes are the best source of the anti-aging antioxidant lycopene. Surprisingly, lycopene in tomatoes is more easily absorbed by your body when it is cooked or processed, so make sure to stock up on canned tomato sauce, tomato juice, and ketchup.

Blueberries

This low-profile berry was ranked number one in antioxidant activity by the U.S. Department of Agriculture compared to 40 common fruits and vegetables. The antioxidants in blueberries protect you from premature aging, so add half a cup to your yogurt or cereal every day.

Dark Chocolate

Wild Salmon

Kiwis

Spinach

Oysters

Yogurt

We won’t judge you if you keep a secret stash of chocolate in your purse or desk (or both). In fact, we recommend you do — especially if you’re willing to share. Dark chocolate helps skin stay hydrated and protects skin from sun damage, and contrary to popular belief, chocolate does not cause acne. Before you make a mad dash to Godiva or Ghirardelli, however, keep in mind that the best kind of chocolate has a high flavanol content and should be at least 60 percent cacao.

This small, brown, fuzzy fruit is loaded with vitamin C and antioxidants, which keep skin firm, help prevent wrinkles, and are great for healthy bones and teeth. The antioxidants in kiwis also protect you from cancer and heart disease.

The jury’s still out on whether oysters are really aphrodisiacs, but they are a good source of zinc, which aids in skin cell renewal and repair. Zinc also keeps your nails, hair, and eyes healthy. Who needs an aphrodisiac when you look and feel beautiful?

www.ebuzztoday.com

Wild salmon — not farm-raised — is one of the best food sources for omega-3 fatty acids, which helps keep your skin supple and moisturized. Salmon also has selenium, a mineral that protects the skin from sun exposure. The vitamin D in salmon keeps your bones and teeth strong and healthy, too. You won’t have a problem adding salmon to your diet since there are hundreds of ways to enjoy this beauty superfood. Try it grilled, baked, in your pasta, with a salad, in sushi, or just with a side of asparagus.

This leafy green vegetable is rich in nutrients and antioxidants. Spinach is loaded with lutein, which keeps your eyes healthy and sparkling. Spinach is also a good source of vitamins B, C, and E, potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium, and omega-3 fatty acids. Trade your lettuce for spinach, or saute spinach for a quick, healthy side.

One cup of low-fat yogurt has more calcium than a cup of fat-free milk, which is great for your posture, nails, and teeth. Mix it with fruit or granola for a healthy breakfast or that essential mid afternoon snack.

Movie Review

By Nayyar Afaq

Takes Godmen If someone thinks that display of skin, glamour and item numbers are the safest bet to attract the audience, one needs to learn from Amir Khan’s recently released Pk. Without using such masala ingredients, the movie has successfully proven to be one of the biggest releases in the box office as well as it invited a great debate on one of the most sensitive topics of subcontinent’s culture – god and the godmen. If there’s Rajkumar Hirani as a writer and director known for hits like 3 idiots and Munna Bhai M.B.B.S, one could expect a great comic relief. And if Hirani pairs with Amir Khan, the Mr. Perfectionist of Bollywood, isn’t that a win-win situation? Cinema houses could be full and box office records could be shattered. This is exactly what PK demonstrated by emerging as the highest grossing film of all times in India. The story starts when an extraterrestrial alien PK (Amir Khan) lands in Rajhastan EBUZZ

desert for some research mission. Unluckily his locket gets stolen which happens to be the remote control device to summon his space ship back to earth. He is unaware of planet earth’s practices but having the power to quickly learn the language and other customs, he adjusts himself among other residents and starts searching for his device. Eventually he learns that only god could help him in getting it back. So he starts searching for god and that’s the point where he observes how godmen, the managers

of god, exploit the common men. Story continues and PK discovers his remote control device in the possession of a fallacious godman named Tapasvi Maharaj. Tapasvi enjoys a huge followership in the society and PK finds himself in difficulty to gain access to his remote control device. In parallel, while traveling in the train, a TV reporter Jaggu (Anushka Sharma) comes to know about PK in an interesting encounter where she finds him distributing leaflets that say god is www.ebuzztoday.com

Movie Review

Cast: Aamir Khan, Anushka Sharma, Sanjay Dutt, Bhairon Singh, Boman Irani Genre: Comedy, Drama Runtime: 2.5-hour. Director: Rajkumar Hirani Writers: Rajkumar Hirani, Abhijit Joshi, Sreerag Nambiar Producer: Vidhu Vinod Chopra Singers: Shreya Ghoshal, Sonu Nigam, Shaan Our Rating: 4.2 out of 5

missing. Jaggu had a painful history of broken relationship with her Pakistani boy friend Sarfaraz after the prediction of Tapasvi that Sarfaraz would betray. Being inspired by PK and his spontaneity, Jaggu plans to expose Tapasvi in a joint venture with PK and becomes his friend. PK raises those questions that no one in the society ever dared to ask openly. PK convinces others that these managers of god are dialing wrong numbers and god is not going to connect via them. PK with his simple yet powerful arguments exposes their fraud practices that they use to do in order to exploit religious sentiments of public. Jaggu gives him coverage in her TV program and this builds up a momentum for a public campaign against such pseudo-godmen. Finding his authority openly challenged, Tapasvi Maharaj decides to confront PK directly in a live show where he claims that he has a direct connection with god and he reminds Jaggu of his prediction about the betrayal of Sarafarz in order to prove his spiritual powers. When www.ebuzztoday.com

the odds go against Jaggu, PK turns the table in her favor in some visibly emotional and disturbing situation. Let me leave the detail to your movie watching experience. Pk finally gets his remote control device back. Towards the end, Jaggu accidentally comes to know that Pk fell in love with her just before he leaves the planet earth. The movie has a few funny songs as well

themes of PK and OMG! (Oh My God) are similar but plots are different. PK is released when Hindu nationalist BJP is at the helm of affairs. as a short appearance of Sanjay Dutt. The music, cast and outfits go well in harmony with the storyline and the actors too have a good chemistry. The movie received much reaction when Amir Khan posed almost naked in its promotional poster before its release.

The controversy took a new turn when Subramanian Swamy, an Indian politician and former Union Cabinet Minister accused ISI of financing the movie soon after its release. Similarly the famous yoga leader of India, Baba Ramdev, urged people for social boycott of everyone associated with the movie. Hindu nationalists have also started protests against Amir Khan and the movie. Despite all such hullabaloo, the movie is going great and is all set to break various box office records and setting new benchmarks. It has intelligently touched a very sensitive topic in a sensible manner rather than sensation only. Although themes of PK and OMG! (Oh My God) are similar but plots are different. PK is released when Hindu nationalist BJP is at the helm of affairs. Hitting social evils like superstition and religious exploitation by some of Hindu godmen is indeed a daring attempt as well as educational one. But this is not confined to one faith as it questions these practices in general for all the faiths. PK, however, doesn’t negate genuine spirituality and the true essence of religion. It advocates the society to remain careful of the ‘wrong numbers’. For Pakistani viewers, there’s much to relate with our own society and remain cautious of such people as it goes well with the famous phrase “Neem Hakeem Khatra-e-Jaan, Neem Mulla Khatra-eEemaan”. One may argue whether this is the best performance of Amir Khan or not but certainly the product has such an intriguing substance that Amir himself calls it to be the toughest movie of his career and the best work of Rajkumar Hirani. Rome, Italy - Walking through Rome is like exploring the world’s largest open-air museum. Simply put, no city on Earth combines fine art, cuisine, tons and tons of ancient history quite like the Eternal City.

Havana, Cuba - Exploring the streets of Old Havana is like stepping back in time to a world of majestic pre-revolutionary buildings, classic cars, and the smell of home-cooking mixing with the sea breeze.

Kyoto, Japan - Kyoto was once the Imperial Capital of Japan and exploring its elegant tea-houses, gardens, and castles is the best way to discover the true essence of traditional Japan.

Paris, France - The City of Lights is the place to immerse yourself in breathtaking museums, enchanting squares, and tons of cafes. It’s no wonder why it’s considered to be the most romantic place on Earth!

Beijing, China - Beijing is China’s historical and cultural capital and home to two of the most awe-inspiring places on Earth: the monumental Forbidden City and the Great Wall of China in the nearby mountains.

Granada, Spain - From the glories of the Alhambra to the narrow, cobblestone streets of the Albayzín district, Granada has an undeniable magic that’s rarely found even in the great cities of Europe.

Athens, Greece - The Acropolis has a top spot on many bucket lists, but the city’s sunny streets, flower-lined squares, and incredible museums makes Athens much more than just ancient ruins.

Kathmandu, Nepal - Kathmandu is, for many, the gateway to the majestic Himalayas. With its mixture of sadhus, saffron-robed monks, and iconic prayer flags, it’ also one of the most colorful cities on Earth.
