Fahad Hussyun Fahad opened the show 1 of the first day of BCW with his collection named ‘The Great Mutiny Bloodline.’ His collection was really impressive but some of the outfits were giving the reflection of his old collection which he showcased in Loreal Paris Bridal Week. The inspiration of his collection was Rajhastani culture and the outfits were pure traditional yet trendy. Mainly he used pastels like ivory, off whites and gold to bold and playful colours like pink, maroon and bronze in collection. The net embroidered sleeves were beautifully and intricately done. Singer Farhan saeed appeared on ramp and sang a song which made the audience crazy. More over make-up artist duo Maram Azmat and Aabroo Hashmi walked the ramp and stopped the show.
Ammar Shahid Ammar Shahid was next up with his collection titled ‘Beauty Unleashed.’ The collection had rich luxurious laces and brocades which were inspired by the beauty and galamoir of the Ammar Shahid modern women with eastern sensibility. This time Ammar collection did not worked out as there was lack of cohesion in men’s wear.
Hajra Hayat Hajra showcased her collection ‘Hajra Hayat Gold’ which was of sheer fabric and mostly of woven silk net. The colour combinations, cuts, separate, cohesion, practicality and wearable. Over all the collection was very well designed as it was inspired by the Muhgal era of Shahkjehan times when dupattas, angrakhas and ghraras were inn. Singer Fariha Parvaiz sang ‘Jogi’ and looked elegant in Hajra Hayat outfit. Fariha gave a new life to the collection of Hajra with her voice.

She started off her career with a morning show on APlus and dazzled the ramp with he great performance on fashion shows. Telefilm always proves to be a prime source of getting into showbiz in Pakistan but for a brilliant host like Fia, it is the second step to the fame ladder. She possesses an attitude that is bold and mesmerizing. She enjoys the features that are sharp and alluring, which makes her stand out of the crowd. Fia has modeled for some of the big brands in the country, including Kamiar Rokni’s collection at PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week and Saruchi. This gorgeous diva is considered the best choice for bridal dresses for her enchanting beauty is intensified when combined with exotic bridal dresses. She modeled for hot wedding season collection designed by fashion designed by fashion designer, Aaliva Asad. She also modeled for bridal jewelry from Fahad Hussain. Fia still has a long way to go, but she is undoubtedly one of the best models of the future. In an exclusive interview with Ebuzz, Fia reflected her thoughts over her journey into the fashion world, her upcoming ventures and many exciting experiences. Let’s have a look! Q: When did you realise that modelling was made for you and how did you pursue your career in modelling? I actually never thought about modelling as i was living in Berlin and working there, as soon as my life brought me to Pakistan and I was clueless about my job career. Modelling happened to me and than there was never looking back. Q: How has your journey been so far and what have you learned from the industry? I have been very lucky I started back in 2006 when the trend didn’t even start of having fashion weeks and then time by time I witnessed the rise of my beautiful industry nationally & internationally. So, I must say I feel myself very proud to be a part of this amazing Fashion Fraternity and if you ask me what I have learned I must say when I joined this Industry I was nothing like today. Rite attitude, professionalism and confidence just got better with time.

INFOCUS Being a woman is an advantage anyways but especially in this industry it makes it even easier especially if you are ready to do anything and everything. But also if you really have it in you then Talent speaks for itself and nobody can stop your progress! It might take a little longer but it will take you there. Q: What comments do you have on frugal fashion? I am not brand conscious that’s maybe because I am grown up in such a society where you don’t come to see such a big difference of classes. And there Fashion changes much faster than anywhere else but also where you have lots and lots of variety and options for buying reasonable Fashion. Since my childhood I have been seeing my Mom buying summer stuff in winter sales and winter stuff in Summer Sale not because we couldn’t effort but for having a much bigger range of variety. That way I simply use to have everything and anything and why waste money if you can get the same stuff cheaper. I Love Frugal Fashion!
Q: What is your work philosophy? Positive thinking, love, good energy & professionalism.
Q: Tell us about your upcoming projects? Suprise Suprise Surprise! Q: Who has been your mentor and who is your muse? My father has been and always will be my inspiration . He fought against the Marshal law of General Zia for the freedom of press. For this cause he had to face torture cells n jails. He had to leave Pakistan because of the new cases filed against him by Zia regime. During the stay in Europe, he did a long struggle for the restoration of democracy along with Benazir Bhutto n her party. A fighter, writer, business man & an amazing Father !!
Q: Who has been your inspiration throughout life? It has & always will be my Father as his whole life is an inspiration itself. Q: How do you spend your day when you are not working? I love spending time with family & friends. Especially with my hubby & my princess Aliyah just cuddling & watch-

ing her favorite cartoons with her. She gives me so much energy. It is such an indescribable feeling. Being a Parent is just the most beautiful thing on Earth and I would suggest everyone to make babies. Q: Being a woman does it hinders or progress in the line of your work?
Q: What are the prerequisites to be a successful model in Pakistan? There is no formula to be successful in any business. Mostly it is your luck, your destiny or your talent that makes you simply successful. But yes! There is one thing for sure that I believe in, is having a basic knowledge of anything that you want to do is always helpful but its even better, If you get proper education or help from some professionals. Also do you homework! That means practice practice practice! And honestly if you have google you can literally learn anything and everything. Q: Where do you see yourself in the next ten years? In a big Production House sitting on a custom made chair by Hamza Tarar. Q: What is the best advice you have ever received? Q: Any fashion faux pas you have done so far? Thankfully not Q: Where do you find yourself at ease? At home with family or night with friends Q: Who is your favourite designer? Make up trends: For the last season, blue eye shadow has been in vogue. For these winters, push the blues to the crook of the eyes. Work it up under the eyes as well. Use black kajal inside to hide the whites of the lids. One can never go wrong with golds as they work well with every eye shape and color, and never go out of style. Choose any tone from shimmer to matt; blacken the eye corners to bring out the eye shape. Exaggerate your eye shape with extended thick black eyeliner. Extend the liner from the corners where the eyelids meet, outwards and upwards. Keep the liner sleek or smudge it up a little with a smudge brush for a smoky eye look. Smudge the liner at the lower lid of the eyes too, in order to exaggerate and lift the corners.
age of gold or silver shine on upper and lower eyelids. Add some kick to your pout with neon pink or violet berry shades in lipstick and watch as they make your look pop out. Save the youthful dewy look for another time, as these winters are all about the velvety, flawless skin. For smooth matte skin tones, go for primers from ‘Illamasqua’ or ‘MAC’ and foundations from ‘Shiseido.’
Hair trends: Keep the styling natural - avoid or use minimal of hairspray, hair gel & other styling products. Hairdos are soft this season, tied either at the nape of the neck or up high near the crown of the head.
Inspired by the 60’s English fashion icon ‘Twiggy’, striking black lines in the crease of the eye sockets are the hottest trend this season. For a bit of shimmer to shine out the rest, glitter is very much the key to the winter 2013 look. Wear matt make up. In the end, dab some glitter at the centre of the eyelids to add that extra bit of oomph. Fancy up the eyes with thick cover-

SaigoL Twists are simple to make and look absolutely chic. Use hot rollers to add a little volume to the roots and softly twist and pin up the curls for a richer look. Make soft twists or braids along either side of the hair parting. Pin them at the nape and you are free to curl or pull the rest of the hair in a bun. Don’t forget to add volume with hot rollers at first. Another sizzling style is the reverse fish tail braid that starts at the nape and works upwards to the crown, with the rest of the hair put up in a French twist style. Use bobby or jura pins to secure the twists and braids in place. Braids are being pushed aside by headbands this season but I suggest you to go for what you love more. As for me, I love both!
Nail Colors: They say ‘when in doubt, go red.’ These winters I am undoubtedly going red. Play with shades from tomato to bold mulberry from ‘Chanel’ and see which ones work best for you!

Winters are my favourite season in terms of makeup; you can wear colours, can try bold looks and the best part no oily face. But yes every good thing has some bad attached with the string. It is the only season which cause maximum breakout of skin due to dryness. Always moisturize your skin and wear as much water as you can. Here are some quick makeup trends. Unlike Clothes the best part of makeup trends you don’t need to change your makeup all you need is to change the techniques.

I am passionate about photography and I am really into fashion. I enjoy doing fashion photography and approaching each shoot from a different angle and putting a different theme behind it.
INTERVIEW By Mishaal Manzoor
The
Charismatic
Mohsin Khawar Photography is an art and purely a passion for those photography enthusiasts who have taken it as a serious profession in Pakistan. However, there are a few who have successfully stood out owing to their creativity and experimentation, as well as ability to effectively play with light and dark. Mohsin Khawar is one such young and talented photographer, who has been in the photography business for last four years now. Photography has simply clicked for Mohsin Khawar and as a writer, and since then he has focused on using light and shadows in his work. He tries to use as much natural light as possible, as he does not really believe in using computer manipulation for an image. Mohsin is passionate about the work he does and it was this passion that led to him to open his own photography firm, aptly named Mohsin Khawar Photography [MKP]. Mohsin Khawar set up his company in 2009 and since then has worked with an array of clients from, but not limited to, the fashion EBUZZ

industry. Some of the clients who have had the pleasure of working with MKP include: Chinyere, Mohsin Ali, ZARA, Chilman Lawn, Beech Tree, Bareeze, Karma Pink, Loop Textile, Overload, SYMT, Ali Zafar, Pepperland, Rana Noman, Saleem Fabrics, Zeb & Haniya, Tetra Pak and many more. In a candid interview with Ebuzz Mohsin Khawar echoed his views and shared his upcoming ventures. Here are the excerpts. Q: How would you describe yourself as a photographer? I am passionate about photography. I am a keen observer of people and places and I enjoy working with light and shadows as I understand the effect that light has on images. For me photography is not a business, it’s an art and a healer of the soul. Q: What sets Mohsin Khawar apart from other photographers? At Mohsin Khawar Photography we believe in creating a new and
unique concept in every project. We do at MKP whether you are a client or a model you can expect to be treated as a human and not a subject which comes through clearly in the pictures where you can see human sentiments highlighted through raw emotion in the eyes and expression of the model. This undisguised and sincere emotion is what makes MKP’s images stand apart from the rest and what allows us to capture important moments in people’s lives and make them memorable. Q: Have you had any formal training in photography or graphic arts? There was a minor course of architectural photography in my degree but I have learned while traveling. My architecture thesis was on light though. Q: What’s been the most defining point of your career? When my picture got chosen as the cover photograph (Dream) for the international magazine Fotopasion. www.ebuzztoday.com
INTERVIEW
Q: Where does your inspiration come from? Light is my biggest inspiration. Q: What photo/photo-series are you most proud of at the moment? Why? I love the shoot I did at the Noor Stud farm for horses. I wanted an action shot of the horses called ‘invasion’ and as I didn’t have a long ranged lens at the time I had to stand right in front of the wild horses and shoot while they were running right at me. But it was definitely worth it as I got the shot I wanted. Q: What equipment and software do you make use of in your work flow? I avoid post editing photographs as much as possible. In some cases it becomes necessary and has to be done but where I can I rely on lighting as much as possible. Equipment I use includes: a Nikon D-90 with an 18-105mm lens and an SB 900 Nikon Flash. I also always have my Canon 350D with its 19-35mm and 28-90mm lens on me. www.ebuzztoday.com
Q: What is most important to you, technique or vision? Again I would have to say light because light effects how you view things and define spaces. Objects and spaces are defined by light and for me that is most important. Q: What is the best advice you have received so far about photography? Take every shot with conviction and you can never go wrong. Q: What does fashion mean to you and what drives you to work in the fashion industry? I am passionate about photography and I am really into fashion. I enjoy doing fashion photography and approaching each shoot from a different angle and putting a different theme behind it. Q: What are the greatest benefits and challenges you find in working with celebrities? A photographer is trusted more and gets more opportunities when he has worked with celebrities who endorse his work. Challenges would occur when a celebrity is very
particular about their image and a photographer would have to ensure that the image is left intact and is as per the celebrities’ requirements. Q: What is your philosophy when it comes to making pictures? I believe light and shadows have a big effect on moods, places and photographs. If a photographer uses light properly they can create wonders. I always work and play with light in my photography. Q: For a magazine, what elements should be there in a shoot for which you can say that it’s a perfect shoot? A perfect shoot is when the viewer is left in shock and amazement and one can see praise for your work all over their face. Q: How do you capture the moments that can actually make magazine covers? A magazine cover shoot is very specific. It is done based on some prerequisites given by the magazine. Not every picture can be a magazine cover. There are a lot of december, 2013

elements that factor into making a magazine cover. Q: What seems to be the biggest obstacle to over-come in building a client base? In Pakistan specifically you have to work with a specific group of people or have been associated with them in some way to really breakthrough in the industry. If you
try to do it completely on your own it takes much longer to be recognized and build a clientele. Q: Do you think that a photographer can develop a taste for fashion? What if someone doesn’t know fashion but wants to do fashion photography? As long as one is passionate about what they are doing and are willing to put in the work they can learn. One should never do something if they are not passionate about it. Q: Name some of the problems that you face during photography. I think the biggest problem one faces is that when you go main stream you get more inclined towards the commercial aspect. It is completely up to the photographer to fulfill a client’s requirements while maintaining one’s own artistic standards. Q: What parameters do you keep in mind during photography? I always strive to come up with a new theme/concept for any shoot I do. I prefer not doing a theme on a shoot which has already been done before. EBUZZ
58
december, 2013
Q: How would you describe your style to someone who’s never seen your work? My style is very experimental as I do not stick to one theme and therefore I cannot box myself into a particular genre. I would like to think that I continue evolving with every photo shoot I do. Q: What projects or assignments are you looking forward to shooting next? I am looking forward to doing more shoots with big fashion brands. I recently did a shoot with Radio 1 FM 91 for their new campaign and I really enjoyed it. Q: Where do you see yourself in the next ten years? I see myself having contributed something amazing to the Pakistani industry which I would be remembered for as a photographer. Q: Do you have any advice for aspiring photographers out there, looking to achieve success in fashion photography? Be sure about what you want to do. Remember it is up to you to show the viewer what you want them to see.

Dangling precariously off the top edge of the Arabian peninsula, dwarfed by neighbouring Saudi Arabia and Iran, it’s easy to miss Qatar on a map. Qatar doesn’t immediately spring to most people’s minds as a tourist destination but with more longhaul travel routes transiting through the large Middle Eastern air hubs, a day or two in Doha is very much worth the stopover effort.

explore Qatar’s capital like a local Take in some culture Suffering from stifling heat and humidity for most of the year, and prone to sand and dust storms, Doha is by necessity an indoors city. One way to combine air conditioning with culture is to visit the Museum of Islamic Arts. Right on the southern tip of the bay near the airport, the MIA boasts a fascinating collection housed in a striking modern building that will have you admiring the architecture just as much as the artefacts.
Hit the shops While there are lots of outdoor souqs (traditional markets) in the older parts of town, Qataris and expats love hanging out at shopping centres like the massive Villagio, next door to the Hamad bin Khalifa sports stadium. While not quite as outrageous as some of the attractions you’ll find in the malls of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, Villagio’s indoor Venetian canal, complete with a gondola ride past expensive jewellery stores and Western-brand clothes outlets, makes for a goodhearted chuckle-inducing photo opportunity. Stretch your legs If you happen to visit during the milder months of October to April, a stroll around the bay at dusk is magical. For the best view, start at the southern end of the 6km horseshoe-shaped Corniche and walk towards West Bay (confusingly located at the north of the bay) where a large crop of futuristic skyscrapers has sprung out of the ground in barely a decade. As the sky darkens and the lights of the city brighten, remind yourself that despite the big city lights you’re in the middle of the desert.

Wander along the main thoroughfare with people from all over the world, through clouds of scented tobacco smoke, past tacky souvenir shops for tourists that trade right next to bulk foodstuff shops for locals, and stop at a random cafe table for a spot of sweet black tea and people watching. While Qatar lacks a distinct national cuisine, the souq’s many restaurants reflect a range of regional and global cuisines. Both locals and visitors love a long session at the three-story Tajine - after a day in the cultural mash-up that is Doha, eating camel (similar to goat in taste) on the roof of a Moroccan restaurant in Qatar won’t seem strange at all. Stick around after your meal to watch either football or Lebanese music videos (it’s only ever one of these programs) on the giant projector screen on the wall, accompanied by mint tea and a shisha.
Getting around Despite the almost total lack of a public transport system (there is a very basic bus service), getting around Doha is relatively easy and cheap. Aqua-coloured ‘Karwa’ taxis are plentiful in most areas a tourist might frequent and can be hailed by the side of the road. Meters are routinely used (if it’s broken your ride is free), and rates are low - you’ll have to work hard to run up a fare over $US10. Chizen

Smartphones, The New Fashion Statement The prevailing style in behavior or in dressing can generically be referred to as fashion. In the current era no one can deny the importance of fashion in their lives; all and any form of dressing and carrying oneself can be categorized into one of several types of fashion. As is the norm with all things that they change over time so does fashion, and now a major part of fashion are the accessories we carry. A recent necessity which has been added to today’s fashion world after the advent of cell phones are smartphones, and the manufacturers of these smart phones know it. These corporations know that it looks odd when the person is dressed well but they have an odd looking or damaged smart phone in hand, which completely negates the sophisticated image one has when wearing chic clothes. But it’s not just the companies, even people have become conscious about the type and brand of smart phones that they carry; Samsung, iPhone, and Nokia are the Armani, Versace and Gucci of the smart phone world. People choose phones that compliment their personality, match with their clothes, and play to their tune. EBUZZ
