She is girly, beautiful and very easy to get along with but to meet Humaima Malik in person is to discover that she is a very strong character. By Sadia Zaheer
www.ebuzztoday.com
In a short span of years, Humaima has carved a niche for herself in entertainment industry and the young actress says she wants to use her success to do things on her own terms. Humaima shot to fame from the movie Bol which was her debut film as well. People still remember her from the character she played in that movie. Talking about her success, Humaima says, “I think success touched me when I did BOL and it was very good year for me. I always admire Sohaib Masoor that he gave me the chance to do Zaniab’s role. I must say what he did for me no one else can do. BOL is something which will always give me strength of doing more good even after a decade.” The inspiring actress is very confident and believes in hard work. “I am quite challenging woman besides other women around the world. I have got so many awards and this makes me feel really good. When you do a lot of efforts and hard work, success always touch your ground. I think we should have a very strong believe on our self especially when we are working with somebody. I trusted on Sohaib and see today the doors of success has been opened for me. If I do even ten more films in my life, the respect I got from BOl I can have from any other film.” Asking about her concentrations while singing any project, she says, “Script and role should be strong. I feel excited whenever I do something. I am very moody person. If I am not in mood I can’t work. I think when you do work; you should do it happily and like it from the bottom of your heart. The story plot should be based on the character which I have to play so that my role gets significant because of my presence.” Humaima loves to send time with her family as she is very much close to them. She tells, she is very anti social woman. “I do not have so many friends. My family is my priority. There are very few people who are closed to me. I have three sisters and two brothers. Due to my lovely sibling I never

CHAT ROOM felt that I have very few friends. I make sure to give time to all because family always stands by you in every circumstance.” The actress is not so much particular about her style but her style sense is simply superb. “I love that style in which I feel comfortable. I wear what I like. I am a very rough and tough person. I like wearing long dresses and sari. I love to be causal. I am not so fashion oriented person. I design my clothes by own self. I love shopping. I am a shopaholic person.” Humaima takes interest in social works too. She is the brand ambassador of WWF. “Besides acting, I want to do something for my country. I want people to remember me for doing something after my death. Right now I don’t know what I will do. I am very young, this time I am focusing on my career. There is a long way to go. In future I might open school for poor children, or may I travel out and make name of Pakistan in world through different ways. I haven’t decided it yet but I am planning to do something.” “The reason behind this is, we have very tough life. 24/7 we stay in a fake world. I work in entertainment industry for people not for myself. I just wanted to do something for my own self and satisfaction. I don’t want to be remembered just an actress. I am eastern woman. If I can bring 12 international awards in my country then I firmly believe that I can do anything which I want to do for my country. I am a very patriotic person. I love my country every much” she added. She experiences the things steps by step and she has good experiences in her life. “I don’t rush into things. I don’t judge situations and random people. Industry is open for everyone. I experience a lot of good things.” Humaima Malik is daring woman. She is strong and courageous. “I am very strong woman. I can deal the world on my own. I am not scared of anything expect God. i am very kind heated and humble person too. My mother always taught me that never forgot from where you belong and never leave your values.”
Humaima believes that soon our Pakistani film industry will be on high. She say, “Our scripts are very good. We have brilliants actor. The one thing we lack is resources. We don’t have enough money to invest in films.

After working in Lollywood, Humaima has also worked in Bollywood, soon we will see her Indian films too. “My debut movie in bollywood was …. With Sanjy dutt. But unfortunately he got arrested and film delayed so I can’t say when it will release. Shaatir movie is going to release very soon. It’s a very strong film. It is directed by director Kunal Deshmukh. I hope we will get a good response for this movie. It’s a fabulous movie and everyone should watch it.” Humaima believes that soon our Pakistani film industry will be on high. She say, “Our scripts are very good. We have brilliants actor. The one thing we lack is resources. We don’t have enough money to invest in films. The concept of making film is not as much in Pakistan. Our people do not follow films as Indians do. Now our film industry is on its revival and soon we will see changes in it. In next five years Pakistani industry will reach to hype.” The brilliant starlet respect criticism and believes that everyone has right to criticize and she respects the people views. Humaima finds many of her colleagues inspiring and she appreciates them a lot. GLOF destroys everything that comes in its path
By Syed Muhammad Abubakar
JUL-AUGUST 2014
With climate change affecting billions of people across the globe, some developing countries can be counted as those which will face impacts of this event more profoundly. This is attributed to the fact that their GDP largely depends on agricultural output along with low economic growth and scarcity of resources among others. According to a recent report by the World Bank titled “Turn down the heat: Climate Extremes, Regional Impacts, and the case for resilience climate change in South Asia can affect food production and seasonal water availability and therefore may create numerous challenges for the populations in these countries including the availability of clean drinking water, adequate water for irrigation hence creating drought and famine like situation. Bangladesh, a low-lying country surrounded by the Ganges, Brahmaputra and Meghna rivers is highly vulnerable to climate change, regularly facing typhoons, floods and sharp and unpredictable rainfall. The country is vulnerable to natural hazards which led to poor economic growth, low agricultural output and widespread poverty but the people of Bangladesh have adapted to these harsh climatic conditions. The government of Bangladesh is formulating a concise water policy alongwith concrete adaptation and mitigation measures to tackle climate change and increase forest cover further in order to prevent coastal erosion. www.ebuzztoday.com

Glacial melt is increasing According to German Watch Institute, Bangladesh was ranked fifth in the LongTerm Climate Risk Index (CRI): Results (annual averages) in specific indicators in the 10 countries most affected from 1993-2012, which highlights that the country is deeply impacted by the phenomenon. However, successful planning and adaptation and mitigation measures enabled Bangladesh overcome direct climate change impacts which is why it was not included in the Climate Risk Index for 2012 in the top 10 countries affected by climate change. This goes to show that if a disaster prone country like Bangladesh can adapt to its changing environments then Pakistan, a country which does not have a history of such natural calamities, can as well. Human activity has led to the current scenario in Pakistan and only adaptation initiatives can help in averting the crisis of climate change. Hazards must be reduced to a minimum by making the northern and coastal areas of Pakistan resilient, agriculture must also be strengthened by sensitizing farmers to adapt to their changing environment and reducing their impact on environment. Pakistan is blessed with snowy mountains and semi-arid coastal areas and experiences all four seasons. Unfortunately, over the past few years Pakistan has witnessed extreme temperatures (extreme heat in summer, extreme but short cold spells in winter and prolonged monsoons) which cost the government billions of dollars each year in the form of decrease in agricultural output, loss of exports, damage to infrastructure and increased cost of healthcare. The Global Climate Risk Index for 2014 developed by German Watch Institute ranked Pakistan at number 3 after Haiti and the Philippines as countries most affected by climate change due to recent floods which stormed the whole country. Only the 2012 flood caused damage totaling $6 billion. Even though Pakistan contributes very little to greenhouse gas emissions and is ranked at 135 out of countries on per capita basis, it’s most affected by it. The fact that Pakistan’s economy is www.ebuzztoday.com
based on agriculture which contributes 20% production to GDP, accounts for 60% of national exports, provides livelihood to 68% of the country’s population living in rural areas and employs 45% of the national labour force in 2012 (GOP, 2013). Due to enormous increase in population greater agricultural output is needed to sustain the growing population which increases pressure on the ecosystem, leading to scarcity of natural resources. Conversion of forests, which act as carbon sinks, for agricultural use is another cause of increased vulnerability. Damage to agriculture from floods is extensive as whole crops are destroyed and water does not recede, staying on the land for months which deprives farmers of their livelihood. The country also has to face acute water supply in the winter season which leads to reduced agricultural output in colder months. According to Rab Nawaz, Director Sindh, WWF-Pakistan, “The cost of flooding in Pakistan is 12 billion dollars, equivalent to the cost of building the Bhasha Dam.” Hence climate change is severely impacting agriculture in Pakistan as higher temperatures, altered precipitation and seasonal variations impact wheat, rice and cotton output. This has put a further strain on numerous industries such as textile, tanneries and paper which are directly linked to agriculture. Decrease in agricultural output hampers industrial export aswell. Crop quality is increasingly being affected due to poor soil quality, wind erosion and salinity. Increased temperatures have led to reduction in the duration of growing seasons in all regions and mountain agriculture is also affected due to it. The quality and quantity of Pakistan’s agriculture is decreasing and can become a serious food security issue in future. It can further create economic instability in the country, driving the country further into poverty. However, this situation can be avoided by mitigating climate change. This requires reforestation alongwith research in the proposed field to understand the cause and to address it in a holistic way.

Pakistan Hadiqa Kiyani awarding the Music Album Contract to Zamad
Idol…
A Little Bit of Music Between Failed Comedy & Bizarre Fashions By Sameen Hassan
And finally the first installment of the tragedy that they named as “Pakistan Idol” came to an end with Zamad Baig hailed as the winner of the show! From day one, the show has been a target of disparagement by masses and critics for its exceptionally unparalleled (Read: Lame) judging panel, inept participants, run of the mill set up and a below average music! It seemed less of a music show and more of a failed comedy script and ensemble of the most bizarre fashion statements. The show fell flat on three levels: The Production, The Judges, & The Contestants! The first very disappointing thing of the show was the judges, their approach towards music and their unprofessional behavior with contestants. Our country is blessed with so much talented singer and legends but unfortunately we could not see any one of them at the panel. At the time of auditions, judges humiliated the contestants and made fun of them. At times Bushra Ansari sat as clueless as many of the newbie’s and at times her display of vocal talents

to assert her opinion as a judge for singing competition left me wondering why on earth was she judging a singing show. And there was Hadiqa Kiyani either totally impressed with anyone who tried “Murkiyan”, “Alaaps” or “Harkatein” or failed to even appreciate performances which one millions of hearts and to add to the bandwagon of shrinks, Ali Azmat, the wannabe Simon Cowell. Had it been one of Hadiqa and Ali Azmat on the show accompanied by the likes of Sajjad Ali, Ustaad Salamat Ali or Ali Zafar, the show could have gone next level. but then, its just my opinion. Coming from the line of the international series of Idols and having the huge name of Pepsi attached to it as a brand, Pakistan Idol certainly had a lot of public expectations attached to it. However, the prospects were badly denied soon after the auditions aired the screen and public saw Ali Azmat rejecting people on how plain or Desi someone looked & Bushra Ansari selecting on how cute a few of those auditioning appeared. Someone should have reminded it’s a Pakistan’s biggest platform for singing nevertheless… Then there was Mohib Mirza hosting the main show and Anushay Ashraf hosting the behind the screen lounge versions of the show. Two people who were expected to bring a little life to the show but vehemently failed to do so. What annoyed me the most throughout the show was Mohib Mirza’s additionally recorded and played break and welcome back links, I mean who suggested the director to add that! And the contestants; not that each one of them was incapable or poor but for me none surpassed the standards that should have been set for “Pakistan” Idol. There were a lot better voices rejected during the auditions that could have made the show a more Music oriented show than ridiculous comedy & fashion. Throughout the show for me the highlights were the Qawwali Episode & Sajjad Ali’s unplugged Bolo Bolo. There was nothing else on the show that I will remember as a good memory. Shoaib’s Mast Nazroun Se Allah Bachaye was beautiful but if it were the only episode I was to select Pakistan Idol from, Zamad’s Halka Halka Suroor won for me! All in all, Pakistan Idol was a disappointment in all areas. Not only did it cater to harming the legendry and respectful aura of the three judges for their inappropriate conduct throughout the show, but it also brought down the bar of Pakistan Music industry several levels as set by internationally acclaimed Coke Studio, Nescafe Basement and even Uth Records!

Laminating the floor with sea blue color can give a cool effect to your eyes and soothing feel to your feet. Summer is not about candle lights and energy savers, rather it is all about natural lights. So, switch off bulbs and fold up curtains to let the natural light come in till sun sets.
