MURRAY ATHLETIC CENTER The Murray Athletic Center, better known as the Domes, has been the home of Elmira College Women’s Ice Hockey for the past 14 years. Erected in 1973, the Murray Athletic Center has hosted every home Soaring Eagles ice hockey game for the past 40 years. In the summer of 2001, a major renovation project took place that included new locker rooms and new offices for the hockey program, four new multi-purpose locker rooms and a new sports medicine area. These enhancements to the facility provide the Soaring Eagles with a state-of-the-art locker room which includes individual maple player stalls, a stick room with work bench area, stereo and entertainment center, video editing equipment, coaches offices and meeting area, intercom system, and dehumidification system. The Murray Athletic Center has been one of the premiere Division III hockey facilities in the country and these improvements demonstrate the College’s commitment to provide the studentathletes with the necessary facilities to support the athletics programs at the College. The Soaring Eagles continue to have one of the highest home attendance averages in the country with frequent sell-out crowds. A truly unique facility that the Soaring Eagles are happy to call home, and a place where few opponents enjoy much success.

HEAD COACH DEAN JACKSON ’03 Dean Jackson ’03 -- Head Coach

Dean Jackson ’03 enters his fourth year as the Head Women’s Ice Hockey Coach at Elmira College. In his first year at the helm of the women’s ice hockey program, Jackson led the Soaring Eagles to their third NCAA title in program history. The 2012-13 team finished the season with a 24-5-1 overall record; Elmira’s 24 victories are tied for second most in program history. Elmira also finished the season ranked No. 1 in the USCHO.com poll for the first time in eight years. For his efforts Jackson was named the D3hockey.com National Coach of the Year, CaptainU National Coach of the Year, and was a finalist for the American Hockey Coaches Association (ACHA) Division III Coach of the Year award. In 2012-13, Jackson coached Lauren Sullivan ’13, the nation’s leader in Goals-Against Average (GAA) and shutouts. His team ranked first in the nation in scoring defense, second in penalty kill, and fourth in scoring offense. Maybe more impressive is the fact that Jackson became the first NCAA women’s ice hockey coach, in any division, to lead a team to a national championship without a single All-American selection. In 2013-14, Jackson led the Soaring Eagles to another ECAC West Finals appearance as well as Elmira’s second consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament. He coached the 2013-14 Defensive Player of the Year in Brooke Wilgosh ’15, as well as three AHCA All-Americans in Wilgosh, Ashley Ryan ’15 and Tanis Lamoureux ’14. His 2013-14 squad was the only team to earn a win against eventual NCAA Tournament Champions, SUNY Plattsburgh. The 2014-15 season was a special one for Jackson and the Soaring Eagles. He led Elmira to a program-best 23-win regular season and eventually a 26-3-1 overall record. Elmira also posted a perfect 18-0-0 mark in ECAC West Conference games, the first flawless conference record by an ECAC West team since 2005-06. It also marked the first time in ECAC West history that a conference team had won 18 league games since the conference expanded to 10 teams. Jackson not only guided Elmira to their highest regular season win total in 2014-15, he also helped the Soaring Eagles reach the ECAC West Conference Championship Game for a third consecutive year, Elmira’s second NCAA Division III Championship Game appearance in the last three years, and EC’s 300th win in program history. Additionally, Jackson became the fastest coach to record 50 wins in Elmira history, doing so in 63 games. For his efforts, Jackson was named the STX/AHCA Division III National Coach of the Year, USCHO Division III National Coach of the Year, and ECAC West Conference Coach of the Year. Jackson saw Elmira great Ashley Ryan ’15 receive the Laura Hurd Award in 2015, presented to the AHCA Division III National Player of the Year, Elmira’s third National Player of the Year in program history. He also coached three AHCA First Team All-Americans, which is also the third time Elmira has had three first teamers in the same year, and saw Ryan earn ECAC West Conference Player of the Year, Elmira’s fifth conference player of the year in college history. Additionally, Jackson had three players named NCAA Division III Statistical Champions in several statistical categories. Elmira boasted the nation’s leader in goals per game, power-play goals, game-winning goals, short-handed goals, points per game, and assists per game. Jackson also helped Ashley Ryan ’15 tie the NCAA Division III single-game (6) and career record (42) for assists, as well as Cassidy Delainey ’15 set a new NCAA Division III record for single-season power-play goals (17), a mark that led all players, men and women, across all divisions of NCAA ice hockey. 3 NCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS | 7 ECAC WEST CHAMPIONSHIPS 6

HEAD COACH DEAN JACKSON ’03 Prior to his appointment as the Head Women’s Ice Hockey Coach, Jackson served as the Assistant Men’s Ice Hockey Coach at Elmira College from 2007-12, guiding the Soaring Eagles to five consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, including a trip to the NCAA Frozen Four in 2008. He also led Elmira to five ECAC West regular season championships and the 2010-11 ECAC West Conference Championship. During his time with the men’s team, Jackson coached eight AHCA All-Americans, two ECAC West Players of the Year, two ECAC West Defensive Players of the Year, three ECAC West Goalies of the Year, four ECAC West Rookies of the Year, and 20 ECAC West All-Conference selections. Jackson is no stranger to Elmira College as he returns to his alma mater where he enjoyed one of the most successful playing careers in the 40 year history of the Elmira College Men’s Ice Hockey program. While playing for the Soaring Eagles from 1999 – 2003, Jackson became a member of the prestigious 100 point club in 2003, garnered ECAC West Rookie of the Year honors in 1999, was named to the ECAC West All-Conference Second Team in 2003, and was named the ECAC West Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player in 2003. Additionally, Jackson captained the 2003 edition of the Purple and Gold, en route to being named the Elmira College Men’s Ice Hockey Booster Club Player of the Year. In addition to competing as a standout forward with the Men’s Hockey program, Jackson was also a four-year member of the Soaring Eagles Men’s Golf team. Following a distinguished playing career for the Soaring Eagles, Jackson went on to play professionally. During his professional career, he saw action with the Elmira Jackals of the UHL, and later with the Fayetteville Fireantz and Richmond Renegades of the SPHL. In 2005, Jackson was named the Southern Professional Hockey League Player of the Month in November, and in 2006, was named a Southern Professional Hockey League All-Star following the 2005-2006 season. During both his collegiate and professional career, Jackson has also served as a head instructor and program coordinator for World Class Hockey Development Canada. During his time with World Class Hockey Development Canada, Jackson also served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. Additionally, he was responsible for program and staff management, and has been instrumental in the planning of camps and development of junior instructors. Jackson is also a USA Hockey Level 4 Instructor. Jackson graduated from Elmira College in 2003 with a S.B. in Business Administration with a specialization in Marketing. @ECSOARINGEAGLES | @ELMIRAWHOCKEY 7

ASSISTANT COACH KELSEA MARTALAOCK Kelsea Martalock -- Assistant Coach/Head Junior Varsity Coach Kelsea Martalock enters her first season at Elmira College as the assistant women’s ice hockey coach in the 2015-16 academic year. Martalock comes to EC after serving as the assistant coach and strength and conditioning coach at St. Norbert College, a Division III institution in De Pere, WI. During her time at St. Norbert, the Green Knights finished tied for second place in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) and reached the NCHA Tournament Semifinals. Her St. Norbert squad also featured the NCHA Freshman of the Year and an All-American defender. As the team’s strength and conditioning coach, Martalock designed all of her team’s workouts and oversaw team training sessions. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Martalock spent one season as an assistant coach for the women’s ice hockey team at her alma mater. She stayed on the staff for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons as the strength and conditioning coach while completing her master’s degree. She supervised training sessions for a variety of sports outside of hockey, including women’s basketball, soccer, volleyball, softball, and football. In her last season with the Pointers, UWSP jumped to second in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings and reached the NCAA Division III Tournament Quarterfinals. Martalock completed an internship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2012 working under Jim Snider as the strength and conditioning coach for the men’s and women’s hockey teams, members of the Big Ten Conference. She conducted off-ice training and oversaw weight room sessions for the Division I Badgers. Her strength and conditioning background extends past the college ranks and into the national realm as Martalock has worked extensively with USA Hockey under Mike Boyle, a pioneer in the field of strength and conditioning. Since 2008, Martalock has been involved with USA Hockey as a coach, strength and conditioning coach, and assisting in skill development. The Tomah, WI native played her first two seasons of collegiate hockey at Bethel University in St. Paul, MN, before transferring to UWSP. In 92 career games, she scored seven goals and added nine assists for 16 points. In 2012, Martalock received her bachelor’s degree in Health Promotion and Wellness from UWSP with a double minor in strength and conditioning and nutrition. She earned a master’s degree in education in 2014.

2015-16 SEASON PREVIEW Elmira College women’s ice hockey continued to cement its place as one of the elite programs in NCAA Division III in 2014-15. Fielding one of the most potent offenses in the program’s history, the Soaring Eagles filled the net with 141 goals en route to a 23-1-1 regular-season record. The Soaring Eagles went 18-0-0 ECAC West competition, marking the first time since 2005-06 that an ECAC West team completed the regular-season without a single blemish in league play. Despite falling to Plattsburgh State in the ECAC West Tournament Final, the Purple and Gold were primed for another deep run in the NCAA Tournament. After tallying back-to-back come-from-behind victories over Trinity College and the University of Wisconsin River Falls, Elmira once again found itself in the national title game for the second time over the last three seasons. Unfortunately, the Purple and Gold fell just short of recapturing the glory of the 2012-13 season, as its familiar foe, Plattsburgh State, outlasted the Soaring Eagles in a 3-2 loss. “For us it’s a new year,” Head Coach Dean Jackson ’03 said. “It doesn’t matter what’s happened last year, or the year before, or two years before. It’s a new outlook. We got new players. Our expectation is to have a successful season and hopefully make a long run into the playoffs.” The 2015-16 installment of the Soaring Eagles will have a distinctly different look from last season’s National Runner-Up team. Missing from the forward ranks is 2015 Laura Hurd Division III National Player of the Year and STX/AHCA First-Team All-American Ashley Ryan ’15. EC also will not have the services of STX/AHCA First-Team All-American honoree Ashton Hogan ’15, nor will it have the significant power play contributions from Cassidy Delainey ’15 and the consistent scoring of Erin Weston ’15. EC also will be hit with some significant attrition on the blue-line, as it lost the two-way contributions STX/AHCA First-Team All-American Brooke Wilgosh ’15, as well as the steady defensive play of Lindsay Burrows ’15. The aforementioned players accounted for 93 goals and 131 assists, a hefty 63% of the teams overall scoring. Despite the heavy losses, 2015 STX/AHCA Division III National Coach of the Year Dean Jackson ’03 is not the least bit fazed heading into the new season. “Assistant Coach Kelsea Martalock and I have been really happy through the first few days of practice,” Jackson said. “Given we have graduated a lot, but within the locker and on the ice it really feels like we haven’t missed a beat. Everyone is excited and everyone has come back with great focus and determination to continue the path we have been on.” The Soaring Eagles will need to get accustomed to their new roles rather quickly, as Elmira will once again take on one of the most daunting schedules in Division III hockey. The tough tests will begin right out of the gate this coming weekend, as the team opens the season at the East-West Hockey Classic, which with the inclusion of Elmira features three of the final four teams in last season’s NCAA Tournament, as well as perennial western power Adrian College. FORWARD There will be several new faces atop the scoring charts for the Soaring Eagles this season, as the team lost its top four scoring forwards form a season ago. While the team may not have a dynamic creator in the mold of a Ryan, or the pure shooting ability of Hogan or Delainey, the team does return several talented contributors from last season. Coach Jackson has remarked several times throughout the preseason that this year’s team has the potential for four consistent scoring lines, reminiscent of the Soaring Eagles’ National Championship squad of 2012-13. “The team as whole will have a different feel this season,” Jackson explained. “We might not have that dominant one or two lines; however, I think we’re going to put four lines over the boards that will have the ability to score for us.” Highlighting the crop of returning players at forward is this year’s captain Johanna Eidensten’ 17. She is the Soaring Eagles leading returning scorer at the forward position, after posting 16 points on six goals and 10 assists a season ago. The Swedish national grew into a top-six role a year ago, seeing time on Elmira’s top-line and the potent power-play unit by season’s end. She looks primed to take the next step in 2015-16.

Johanna Eidensten ’17

Joining Eidensten up top is fellow Swede Olivia Nyström ’16, who will serve as an assistant captain this season. She led all of Elmira’s returning players in goals scored last season, finding the back of the net eight times, while also adding seven helpers. Like Eidensten, Nyström showed flashes of her significant skill and talent a season ago, helping her secure a top-six role. Her work ethic and strong two-way play also helped her garner time on the Soaring Eagles power-play and penalty-kill units in 2014-15. Keeping with the international theme, Anna Tude ’17, of Stockholm, Sweden, and Louisa Lippiatt Durnell ’18, of East Sussex, England, figure to have prominent roles this season after very solid campaigns last year. Tude finished the season with 11 points on five goals and six assists, while Durnell tallied 15 points on four goals and 11 assists a year ago. Both players bring significant energy to the group. One common theme of all the aforementioned players is that they have already shown the penchant for making an impact on the biggest of stages. Durnell assisted on Tude’s overtime game-winning goal in the Soaring Eagles thrilling come-from-behind victory over Trinity College in the NCAA Quarterfinal. Eidensten tallied a pair of assists in Elmira’s comeback victory over Wisconsin-River Falls in the NCAA Semifinal, while Nyström added an assist against the Falcons and a goal in the NCAA Division III National Championship Game against Plattsburgh State.

@ECSOARINGEAGLES | @ELMIRAWHOCKEY 13

2015-16 SEASON PREVIEW The Soaring Eagles also boast a strong North American group that will figure heavily into the team’s forward line combinations. Sydney Fischer ’17 (2g-6a), Meghan Fonfara ’18 (3g3a), Jessica Prance ’17 (3g-3a) and Ari Smith ’18 (3g-1a) each appeared in 20 or more games last season. Sarah Hughson ’18 also delivered some significant scoring contributions, posting three goals and four assists in 16 games played. Gyllian Smith ’18 will also push for time this season after being held out of the lineup during her debut season. Coach Jackson believes that this group is ready to take the next step this season. “We have a lot of returning players that have been waiting for this opportunity to be slotted into a role in which they will be counted on more,” Jackson said. “They’ve been around in every type of situation, high-pressure situations, learning a lot from some of these upperclassmen that we did graduate. Everyone is looking forward to having that opportunity to fill some of these roles and we’re confident that they will.” The Purple and Gold will also welcome several talented fresh faces to the program. The first-year class of Katie Granato ’19, Maddy Jerolman ’19, Shannon Strawinski ’19, Brynn Rickard ’19 and Maddie Evangleous ’19 has injected a significant element of speed to the program. The group has been working fervently to learn the intricacies of Coach Jackson’s system and will look to make an immediate impact this season. DEFENSE While adjusting to the significant changes has been a bit of a work in progress for the forwards, Coach Jackson has been bullish on the work of the defense this preseason. The group returns a boat load of talent and should not miss a beat despite some talented departures. “The core of our defense has looked extremely strong,” Jackson exclaimed. “We are really excited about the talent that we have on our blue-line. Obviously, we stress every day to be solid in the defensive zone, but with the talent and the skill sets that we have with this group of players, we expect to get them involved in the rush when the situation presents itself.”

Phoebe Piku ’16

The blue-line will be led by assistant captain Phoebe Piku ’16 who returns for her final season. She has always brought a physical presence to the defensive end; however, she added a potent offensive element to her game in a breakout season last year, posting new career-highs with seven goals, 12 assists, and 19 points. Joining Piku in her final season is classmate McKenna Farole ’16. She was a consistent stay-at-home option for the Soaring Eagles last season, appearing in 26 games overall. The Irvine, CA, native’s +21 plus/minus was the highest of any returning Elmira defender last season. She also chipped in six assists over the course of the season. A trio of rising second-year players also figures to have a heavy influence on the blue-line this season. Rachel Grampp ’18, an ECAC West All-Rookie Team selection, showed some excellent two-way instincts during her debut season. Behind Piku, she generated the most points of any returning defender, tallying nine points on three goals and six assists in 25 games played. Erin Kishoni ’18 was a bulldog in the defensive end for the Soaring Eagles last season. Despite being the smallest player on Elmira’s roster at just 5’1”, she plays with an edge and brings an added dimension of speed to the defense corps. Rounding out the group is Kyra McDonald ’18, who transitions to the blue-line after appearing in 14 contests as a forward last season. She also figures to play a significant role this season, as Coach Jackson attempts to add another offensive-minded weapon to the defense. Elmira’s defensive end will also be supplemented by a strong group of first-year players. Meg Lahey ’19 and Kristin Chivers ’19 have looked solid during preseason, while Bobbi Strople ‘19 brings a different element, as she is still being rotated between a forward and defensive role. GOALIE The one area that was not affected heavily by attrition was in the Soaring Eagles net. Elmira returns both ends of its impressive goalie tandem in Kyle Nelson ’17 and Kelcey Crawford ’18. The duo has looked strong in preseason workouts and Coach Jackson is confident that having such a strong pair of netminders will keep the Soaring Eagles in every game this season, especially as the team sorts out the significant changes in the offensive end early in the year. “Goaltending is a huge factor in a program’s success and we’re fortunate to have two goaltenders coming back with real quality playing time,” Jackson said. “They both have put in a lot of hard work over the summer and we feel extremely comfortable putting in either of them in any game.” Nelson figures to have the inside track to start on opening night, as she played in the lion’s share of contests last season. The rising third-year started 19 games, including all three NCAA Tournament contests in 2014-15. She posted a 16-3-1 record with a strong .920 save percentage and a sensational 1.82 goals against average, while also adding three shutouts. She currently sits in sixth place on the program’s all-time list with 521 career saves, while her 416 stops last season ranked eighth-most in the program’s single-season history. Crawford showed incredible poise and leadership in her debut season. She started nine contests last season, posting an unblemished 8-0-0 record. Her peripheral stats were phenomenal, as she recorded a .935 save percentage and a miniscule 1.21 goals against average, while also tallying two shutouts.

2014-15 SEASON IN REVIEW

@ECSOARINGEAGLES | @ELMIRAWHOCKEY 41

2014-15 SEASON IN REVIEW The 2014-15 Elmira College women’s ice hockey season almost became a magical one as the Soaring Eagles used a nearly-perfect regular season to make a run to the NCAA National Championship game for the second time in the last three years. A 3-2 loss in the title game kept EC from hoisting the trophy for a fourth time, but the Purple and Gold still finished 2014-15 with a 26-3-1 record and a perfect 18-0-0 record in ECAC West Conference games, setting the program mark for regular season wins (23) and becoming the first ECAC West institution to complete an undefeated conference schedule since 2005-06. The return of two 2014 AHCA/STX Division III All-Americans had the Purple and Gold labeled as a contender from the beginning of the season, but questions still remained following the departure of the Class of 2014 which featured 100-point scorer Tanis Lamoureux ’14, defensive stalwarts Ella Stewart ’14 and Katie Gaskin ’14, and one of the best goaltenders to ever wear an Elmira uniform in Lisa Marshall ’14. However, the preseason No. 3 nationally-ranked Soaring Eagles answered all questions and then some over the first few weeks of the season and maintained a number-two ranking in both the U.S. College Hockey Online (USCHO) and D3hockey.com polls from the first regular season release until the February 2nd edition of the weekly polls. That week marked the first time in 30 weeks that a team other than Plattsburgh State held the top spot in the national polls and the first time since the 2013-14 Preseason Poll that Elmira was voted the number one team in the nation. The Purple and Gold played one of the toughest regular-season schedules in the country, squaring-off nine times against nationallyranked opponents, but despite the difficulty, EC went on to win 23 of 25 games, which included a 17-game unbeaten streak, and finished the regular season with a program-best 23-1-1 record. EC’s only loss in the regular season came at No. 1 Plattsburgh State in the Cardinal-Panther Classic Final, a loss that the Soaring Eagles would avenge a couple months later when Elmira swept a weekend series in Plattsburgh to remain perfect in ECAC West play and take a commanding lead in the conference standings. EC’s 2-1 and 6-2 wins over the Cardinals ended Plattsburgh’s 28-game unbeaten streak, their 40-game home unbeaten streak, and handed the Cardinals their first two-game losing streak since the 2011-12 season. The Elmira women carried that momentum into the playoffs where they again went up against Plattsburgh State in the ECAC West Championship game. This time, the Cardinals got the best of the Soaring Eagles, giving Plattsburgh the top seed in the NCAA Tournament and home-ice throughout the tournament. EC earned an at-large bid into the 2015 NCAA Tournament and a quarterfinal date with surprise NESCAC Champion, Trinity College. The Purple and Gold rallied from a 2-0 deficit to upend the upset-minded Bantams in the NCAA Quarterfinals and again came back from two-goals down to advance past Wisconsin-River Falls in the National Semifinals, setting up a fifth meeting with Plattsburgh State in the title game. EC would fall in the NCAA Final, 3-2, to the Cardinals, but not before producing one of the best championship games played in the last five years. Elmira’s dominance in the regular season could be attributed to a shift in their offensive approach on the ice as 2015 STX/AHCA Division III National Coach of the Year Dean Jackson ’03 designed a system that took advantage of the speed and skill that his skaters possessed. The high-powered Soaring Eagles scored 141 goals in 2014-15, the third-most goals scored in a season in program history and the most goals scored by an Elmira team since the 2008-09 season. In terms of individual performance, EC produced one of the best offensive seasons of all-time. They had five players reach 30 points on the season and two achieve 50-plus points. Those totals matched the 2001-02 team that set the standard for Elmira College women’s ice hockey individual point production. Leading the way for the Purple and Gold in 2014-15 was a senior class that will go down as one of the best collective groups in Elmira College history. The Class of 2015 features three STX/AHCA All-Americans, three 100-point scorers, and were key components of both of Elmira’s deep tournament runs, the 2013 NCAA Championship and the 2015 NCAA Runner-Up finish. Combined, the group played in 671 games and totaled 578 points in their careers. EC’s top five scorers were all members of the Class of 2015, led by the 2015 Laura Hurd Division III National Player of the Year winner and STX/AHCA First-Team All-American Ashley Ryan ’15. Ryan totaled 61 points on the year, coming in the form of 19 goals and 42 assists, setting career-highs across the board. She is only the second player in EC history to record 60-plus points, the other being the namesake of the National Player of the Year award, Laura Hurd ’05. Her 42 assists broke the Elmira College record and tied the NCAA record for assists in a season. The Rochester, NY, native recorded 11 multi-assist games, with two of those games putting Ryan’s name on the list for best single-game performances. She tied an EC single-game record with six assists in a 10-2 win over SUNY Cortland on November 15th and then nearly matched that feat a couple weeks later on December 7th when she tallied five assists against SUNY Potsdam. Ryan will leave Elmira as one of the best players to ever don the Purple and Gold. She ranks third all-time with 158 career points, fourth all-time with 61 career goals, and third all-time with 97 career assists. Other statistical achievements include ranking tied for eighth with 10 game-winning goals in her career and tied for fourth with four career short-handed goals. The Soaring Eagles next two top scorers also garnered STX/AHCA First-Team All-American honors in Ashton Hogan ’15 and Brooke Wilgosh ’15. Hogan had the best statistical season of her career with 50 points on a nation-leading 32 goals and 18 assists. She ranked second in the country in scoring behind Ryan and was the only skater in the nation to average over one goal per game. Wilgosh was the top-scoring defenseman in the country as her 38 points, in the form of five goals and 33 assists, were 13 more than the next closest defender. Wilgosh ranked second nationally in assists behind Ryan and 18th in the country in scoring, the only defender to rank in the top 50.

2014-15 SEASON IN REVIEW Hogan’s 50-point season ranks seventh in EC single-season history while her 32 goals ranks third on the single-season list. Additionally, Hogan became the first EC player to score 30-plus goals since Laura Hurd posted back-to-back 30-plus goal efforts in 2001-02 and 2002-03. She scored in a variety of ways as she tallied 16 special teams goals, 10 on the power play and six while on the penalty kill. Her 10 power-play goals rank tied for fourth on EC’s single-season list while she set the new program mark for shorthanded goals in a season. Additionally, Hogan concludes her career with 19 power-play goals, which is tied for the sixth-best total in Elmira history, and seven short-handed goals, which ranks third all-time. Hogan concludes her career with 121 points on 74 goals and 47 assists, leaving as the eighth-best point producer and third-best goal scorer in Elmira College women’s ice hockey history. Wilgosh will certainly go down as one of the best two-way defenders, if not the best, to ever put on an Elmira uniform. Her 38 points increased her career total to 100, making Wilgosh the first defender to join the EC 100-point club. In addition to receiving All-American status for a second time, Wilgosh was also named the ECAC West Conference Defensive Player of the Year for a second consecutive season. The heart and soul of EC’s back-line, Wilgosh led a defensive front that ranked eighth in scoring defense and sixth in penalty kill. Her 33 assists this season ranks tied for fifth on the single-season list while her 100 career points places her in a tie for 10th on EC’s career scoring list. Not to be outdone by their classmates were ECAC West Second Team All-Conference recipient Cassidy Delainey ’15 and Erin Weston’ 15 who rounded out Elmira’s 30-point scorers with 37 and 31, respectively. Those totals were the best individual seasons of both Delainey and Weston’s careers and increased their career point totals to 93 and 75 points, respectively. Delainey was masterful on the power play in 2014-15 as she shattered both the program and NCAA record for power-play goals scored in a season, a record of 13 scores previously held by Jenna McCall ’10. Delainey found the back of the net 24 total times this season, a new career-high for the senior, with 17 of those goals coming when EC was a man up. Her 17 power-play scores led the entire NCAA, including both men’s and women’s ice hockey and across all divisions. For her career, Delainey had 21 power-play goals, ranking tied for fourth all-time, and also 14 game-winning goals, which ties her for third all-time. Weston achieved the best point-scoring season of her career with 11 goals and a career-high 20 assists. Although not the most heralded of EC’s seniors, Weston stepped-up when the lights shown brightest, playing some of her best hockey in the postseason. She scored three goals in the 2014-15 postseason, including two in the NCAA Tournament. Weston tallied the game-winning, overtime, powerplay goal against Trinity College in the NCAA Quarterfinals on March 14th, then, the following week against Wisconsin-River Falls, she helped EC erase their two-goal deficit and advance to the NCAA Tournament Championship game with a third-period goal. Behind EC’s five power players were a number of secondary contributors who all had strong campaigns. Phoebe Piku ’16 had a breakout junior season, providing another scoring option from the blue-line behind Wilgosh with 19 points on seven goals and 12 assists. Piku tripled her career point total with her 2014-15 campaign and earned the first ECAC West All-Conference selection as a second teamer this year. Elmira’s trio of Swedish players, Johanna Eidensten ’17, Olivia Nyström ’16, and Anna Tude ’17, each scored 10-plus points with EC’s top-scoring freshman, Louisa Lippiatt Durnell ’18, mixed in as the Purple and Gold’s final double-digit scorer. Eidensten recorded 16 points on six goals and 10 assists while Nyström was right behind her with 15 points on eight goals and seven assists. Tying Nyström with 15 points was Durnell, who notched four goals and 11 assists while playing alongside Ryan and Weston as the center on EC’s first line for much of the season. Finally, Tude tallied 11 points on five goals and six assists. Despite her production, Durnell was not the Elmira freshman who made the ECAC West All-Rookie Team. Instead, that honor went to defenseman Rachel Grampp ’18, whose physical play and hard slapshot led to her being EC’s lone selection to the All-Rookie team. Grampp appeared in 25 games, totaling nine points on three goals and six assists. Helping answer those pre-season questions about EC’s goaltending were Kyle Nelson ’17 and Kelcey Crawford ’18. Nelson was not with the team in the beginning of the season, but won the starting job from Crawford shortly after making her return. She appeared in 20 games, playing a shade under 1,185 minutes between the pipes. Nelson stopped 416 of the 452 shots she faced for a .920 save percentage and posted a goals against average of 1.82. Crawford had a strong showing in her freshman year, making nine appearances, including eight in conference, and playing nearly 495 minutes in net. Crawford was 8-0-0 on the year, with seven of those wins coming in ECAC West play, and posted three shutouts. The rookie talent showed her future was bright every opportunity she received and finished 2014-15 with 144 saves on 154 shots, while posting team-bests in save percentage (.935) and goals against average (1.21). The Soaring Eagles will bid farewell to their seven seniors, Ryan, Hogan, Wilgosh, Delainey, Weston, Lindsay Burrows ’15, and Marissa Mongillo ’15, as they graduate in June. The seven players are part of one of the most decorated classes in Elmira College women’s ice hockey history and helped restore the Purple and Gold to national prominence with three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, two NCAA Tournament Championship game appearances, and one NCAA Division III Women’s Ice Hockey Championship.
