Elmira is coming off another impressive weekend, one that saw the Soaring Eagles defend their No. 2 national ranking with perfection. EC picked up backto-back wins against nationally ranked teams at the Panther-Cardinal Classic, beginning with a 3-1 comeback win over third-ranked Middlebury College before earning a 2-1 come-from-behind victory against ninth-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College. Maddy Jerolman ’19 played the hero in Elmira’s win over the Panthers, as she scored the game-winning goal midway through the third period. The following day, Olivia Nyström ’16 provided the game-winner for the Soaring Eagles, as she capped Elmira’s comeback win over the Golden Gusties.

The Soaring Eagles enter the weekend having won their last seven games, the fourth-longest active win streak in the country. Three of Elmira’s wins have come against nationally ranked opponents, including a pair of Top-5 wins against Norwich and Middlebury. During Elmira’s seven-game stretch, the Purple and Gold have outscored their opponents 27-to-7 and have skated away victorious in two one-goal games (Utica, 2-1; Gustavus, 2-1).
Comeback Kids
EC has made a habit of earning comeback wins as of late. The Soaring Eagles have rallied from one-goal down in their last three contests to earn a trio of crucial early-season wins. EC began its run of comeback wins by scoring two unanswered goals in the third period to defeat Utica on the road. The Purple and Gold are 3-1-0 this season when heading into the third period tied or trailing.
Special Teams Reign Supreme
One key strength for Elmira through the season’s first eight games has been EC’s special teams. Elmira boasts the nation’s ninth-highest power-play percentage 2015-16 SCHEDULE (7-1-0, 4-0-0 ECAC WEST) (29.0) and the country’s seventh-best penalty kill percentage (93.0). Chivers has registered points in 21 Utica* W, 4-1 six of EC’s first eight games, totaling 10 points on two goals and eight assists. Two of Potsdam’s last three losses have come in the form of shut 12 NCAA Quarterfinals TBA outs, both coming at the hands of Oswego State. However, the Bears did show life in their most recent contest at No. 1 Plattsburgh State. SUNY Potsdam skated Home contests are bolded to a 1-1 tie with the Cardinals through two periods of play, but Plattsburgh went *Denotes ECAC West contest on to score three unanswered in the third to hand Potsdam its fifth loss of the season. Jordan Ott leads the Bears on offense this season with seven points on six goals and one assist. Allison Greene and Anna-Rose Bertin share the teamlead in assists with four apiece.
