Last Time Out
Elmira came out on the wrong end of a pair of one-goal games last weekend. The Soaring Eagles fell 5-4 to Amherst College before dropping another close one to No. 6 nationally ranked Babson College the following day, 2-1.
Looking to Break Through
With two wins through their first seven games, the Elmira men will be looking to get in the win column this Tuesday against Fredonia State. However, do not let Elmira’s 2-4-1 record mislead you. Of Elmira’s four losses, three were one-goal losses while the other was a two-goal loss. In total, Elmira has played in four one-goal games, two two-goal games, and one that ended in tie.
Coach Aaron Saul ’98
Now in his sixth season at the helm of the Elmira College men’s ice hockey program, Coach Saul is sitting on 98 career wins, 79 of which have occurred during his tenure with the Soaring Eagles. Coach Saul is also one of just six coaches in EC program history, and one of just three coaches with multiple ECAC West Conference Tournament titles.
Career 1,000 on the Horizon
In 36 career games, Ryan deMelo ’15 has produced 964 saves. He is only 36 saves away from reaching the 1,000 save mark. With 964 career saves, deMelo is 260 saves away from moving into a two-way tie for 11th place on Elmira College’s all-time list for career saves with former All-American Tony Mongillo ’88.
