After recording an assist on Elmira’s first goal of the game on Saturday, November 15th, Ashley Ryan ’15 became the newest member of the Elmira College women’s ice hockey 100-point club. Ryan is now one of nine EC women’s ice hockey players to reach 100 career points. Prior to Ryan, the last Elmira player to reach 100 points was her former teammate, Tanis Lamoureux ’14, who did it during the 2013-14 season.

Nine Months to the Day

Ashley Ryan ’15 scored her 100th career point on Saturday, November 15th against the Red Dragons of SUNY Cortland. Her 100th point came exactly nine months after Tanis Lamoureux ’14 recorded her 100th career point, who reached that milestone in the first period of Elmira’s game at SUNY Cortland on February 15th, 2014.

A 10-Point Weekend

Ashley Ryan ’15 far exceeded the one point she needed entering the weekend, recording 10 points in the two games against SUNY Cortland. She scored one goal and assisted on nine others as the Soaring Eagles outscored the Red Dragons, 18-3. This is the highest-scoring two-game series of Ryan’s career and the most points an Elmira player has scored in back-to-back games against the same team since Laura Hurd ’05 tallied 12 points, on three goals and nine assists, in a twogame sweep of Chatham University on October 29-30, 2004.

Tied at the Top

After recording six assists in the first game against SUNY Cortland, Ashley Ryan ’15 joined Laura Hurd ’05 and Charissa Gawant ’05 as the only three players in EC women’s ice hockey history to record six assists in a game.

Brooke Wilgosh ’15 was just off the pace set by Ashley Ryan ’15 against SUNY Cortland as she recorded a career-high five assists. The five assists ties her for fourth in Elmira College women’s ice hockey history for assists in a game and are the most assists an EC defenseman has recorded in a game since Jamie Kivi ’10 also tallied five assists in a game against Oswego State on February 14, 2010.

Off to a Fast Start

After a weekend sweep of SUNY Cortland, Elmira now stands at 4-0-0 on the season. This is the first time EC has opened with four consecutive wins since the 2008-09 season. That year, the Soaring Eagles started the year with five consecutive wins before an overtime tie against RIT brought the win streak to a close.

EC combined for 18 goals in the two games against the Red Dragons of SUNY Cortland. This is the most goals an Elmira team has scored in a weekend series since the 2011-12 season when the Soaring Eagles recorded a total of 22 goals against Chatham University on January 20th and 21st.

Leading the Nation

The Soaring Eagles have scored 27 goals in four games this season which equates to an average of 6.75 goals per game. That scoring average ranks Elmira as the top scoring NCAA women’s ice hockey team in the country. EC’s 6.75 goals per game is 1.50 goals per game higher than Adrian College for the NCAA Division III lead in scoring offense and 1.17 goals per game higher than the NCAA Division I leader, Boston College.

One-Two Punch

Ashley Ryan ’15 and Ashton Hogan ’15 have paced the Soaring Eagles so far with 12 and 10 points, respectively, and their points per game averages are the first and second best averages in the country. Ryan is averaging 3.00 points per game while Hogan is close behind, averaging 2.50.

Five in the Top-12

In addition to Ryan and Hogan, EC boasts five players in the top-12 nationally in points per game. Brooke Wilgosh ’15 is tied for sixth with a MEDIA COVERAGE Live Stats (Sat.): http://sidearmstats.com/elmira/whockey/ 2.00 points per game average while both Cassidy Delainey ’15 and Phoebe Piku ’16 are tied for 12th with a 1.75 points per game average. Production from the Blue Line

Brooke Wilgosh ’15 has been one of the nation’s best scoring defenders for a couple years now, so her place atop the NCAA Division III leaderboard is no surprise, but a hot start to the season has Phoebe Piku ’16 joining her amongst the nation’s best defensemen. Wilgosh is averaging 2.00 points per game, which is tied for the national lead in defensemen scoring, while Piku is in sole possession of third place, averaging 1.75 points per game.

Delainey on the Power Play

Cassidy Delainey ’15 has continued to find success on the power play this season as she has four goals through EC’s first four games, which marks Instagram a career-high for the senior. She leads the nation in both power play goals www.instagram.com/ECSoaringEagles scored and power play goals per game average. 2

Elmira on the Power Play

EC has had 26 man-up opportunities this season and has scored an NCAA Division III-leading 10 power play goals. Elmira’s 38.5 percent success rate on the power play ranks third in the country behind Adrian College, who has gone 8-of-16 and this weekend’s opponent, Utica College, who has gone 4-of-10 in man-up situations.

Going for 50

Head Coach Dean Jackson’03, now in his third season leading the EC women’s ice hockey team, enters this weekend of play with a career record of 49-11-2. If the Soaring Eagles defeat the Pioneers on Saturday, Coach Jackson will become the fastest Elmira coach to reach 50 career wins, doing so in only 63 games.

All-Time vs. Utica

Elmira and Utica have an extensive history, playing at least twice per season since their first meeting in 2001. EC holds a significant advantage in the series, winning 28 of the 33 matchups for a 28-4-1 record overall. Additionally, the Soaring Eagles have won the last seven meetings by a combined score of 30-6.

Welcome Back

There will be a familiar face standing in the opponent’s bench area this weekend as the Soaring Eagles welcome back former captain and 2014 AHCA All-American Tanis Lamoureux ’14 to the Murray Athletic Center. Lamoureux, who helped lead Elmira to its third national championship in 2013, is in her first season as an assistant coach for the Utica College Pioneers.

Not Since 2009-10

Last season Elmira had five players with 10 or more goals, marking the first time since the 2009-10 season that EC has had as many double-digit goal scorers. The last time Elmira had more than five players with 10 or more goals dates back to the 2005-06 season when six Soaring Eagles had double-digit goals.

In Good Company

Ashley Ryan ’15 finished last season by leading the Soaring Eagles in points for a second consecutive year. Ryan is the third player in Elmira history to lead the team in points in back-to-back seasons, joining former greats Laura Hurd ’05 and Kayla Coady ’09.

AHCA All-Americans

Elmira returns two of their three AHCA All-Americans this year in Ashley Ryan’15 and Brooke Wilgosh’15. Ryan led EC, and ranked fourth in the nation, in scoring with 43 points. Wilgosh finished third in the nation in defensemen scoring with 28 points on eight goals and 20 assists.
