The Elmira College women’s ice hockey program is sitting on 299 wins following their 5-0 win over Buffalo State. Regardless of when Elmira reaches win number 300, the Soaring Eagles will join the likes of Middlebury (557), Bowdoin (395), Gustavus (383), and Plattsburgh (317).
Still Perfect
EC skated away with a pair of ECAC West Conference victories over Buffalo State last weekend, keeping the Soaring Eagles undefeated in ECAC West play. Elmira defeated the Bengals in Buffalo on Friday by a 2-1 score, then completed the home-and-home series, and the season-sweep, with a 5-0 victory at the Murray Athletic Center.
Make it 10 Straight
The weekend victories moved EC’s current win streak to 10 games and their unbeaten streak to 13 games. This matches the longest win streak any Elmira team has strung together over the last four years and is the longest current win streak in the NCAA, across all divisions.
Wilgosh with the Game-Winner
EC was tied 1-1 with Buffalo State late in the third period last Friday, but Brooke Wilgosh ’15 ensured EC’s ninth straight victory with the go-ahead goal with 3:22 left in regulation. The goal marked Wilgosh’s first game-winner of the season and fifth of her career.
Hats Off to Delainey
Cassidy Delainey ’15 recorded a hat-trick against Buffalo State on Saturday, the first three-goal game of her career. Delainey scored each of Elmira’s first two goals on the power play, assisted on the third goal of the afternoon, then completed her hat-trick in the third period.
