The Soaring Eagles earned a pair of ECAC West Conference wins in their last outing, defeating Neumann University twice by a combined score of 13-4. With the wins, Elmira remains perfect in ECAC West Conference play at 8-0-0.
Hats Off to Ryan
In Elmira’s 8-2 win over Neumann, Ashley Ryan ’15 scored three goals. Ryan’s three-goal performance is her first of the 2014-15 season and the second of her four-year career. The last time Ryan registered a hattrick dates back to Elmira’s national championship season, 2012-13, when she scored all three goals in a 3-0 victory over Manhattanville.
PK Unit Steps Up
Over the weekend, Elmira’s penalty kill unit did not allow a single power-play goal, denying the Knights of Neumann University on 11 power-play chances. Elmira’s success on the penalty kill has improved their overall special teams percentage to 57.0, the second-highest percentage in all of NCAA Division III women’s ice hockey.
Rare Tuesday Matchup
Elmira’s Tuesday night game with Williams is the first weekday game the Soaring Eagles have played since the 2011-12 season when EC took down Hamilton College on a Wednesday night, 6-0. The Soaring Eagles have played in 23 weekday games in their 14-year history. In those 23 games, Elmira has won 16 of them and owns a 6-2-0 record in Tuesday night games.
