EC has had relative success in home-opening games over the last 14 years, posting a 6-8 record. The Purple and Gold won their 2013-14 home opener, defeating Hilbert College, 74-64. Long Time No See: This is the first time in over 14 years that an Elmira team will have held their first home game after the New Year, having played their first eight games of the season away from home. This is the greatest number of games played before the Soaring Eagles’ first home game in EC history, eclipsing the six-game wait in 1979-80, 1982-83, 1983-84, and 1986-87. A Split in North Country: EC took a trip to North Country before the holiday break and came away with a 1-1 record. Elmira used 24 points from both Neil Randolph ’15 and Justin Henderson ’16 to defeat previously-unbeaten Clarkson University, 76-68 in overtime, before falling to St. Lawrence University the following day.
