Season-Opening Win

Elmira had struggled in season-opening games over the last 14 years, posting a 4-10 record since 2000-01. However, the Soaring Eagles picked up their first season-opening win since the 2009-10 season this year when Elmira used a Tyler Dibble ’15 buzzer-beater layup to seal a 57-56 win over host Oswego State.

Dibble Plays the Hero

Senior guard Tyler Dibble ’15 made one of the biggest plays of his career in Elmira’s one-point win over Oswego State. Dibble weaved his way through a pair of defenders to hit a buzzer-beating layup, sinking Oswego State on their home court, 57-56. Dibble’s game-winning layup is the second of his EC career. Last year Dibble also made a last-second layup against Ithaca College, sneaking a 69-68 win from the Bombers.

Feeling it From Three

The Soaring Eagles have knocked down 14 three pointers this season, twice as many as their opponents. Elmira’s 14-made threes have been made by just four players with Justin Henderson ’16 and Hayden Harkins ’18 leading the way with four makes apiece.

Career-High for Henderson

Justin Henderson ’16 saw a total of six minutes last season. His role has grown in a big way this season as the second-year guard has tripled his minutes in 2014-15. Highlighting Henderson’s spike in minutes is his 12-point performance against Farmingdale State, a game in which he knocked down all four of his season’s three-point buckets. His 12 points marks a career-high.
