Last Time Out
Elmira is coming off an 86-76 road win against Empire 8 Conference opponent, Houghton College. The Soaring Eagles trailed twice in the game, both in the first half and both by only one point, as the Soaring Eagles cruised to their third straight win of the season. Justin Henderson ’16 paced the Soaring Eagles with a career-high 29 points, 24 of which came from three-point buckets.
Third Straight Win
Elmira’s 10-point win over Houghton marked EC’s third consecutive win, all of which were against Empire 8 Conference opponents. The three-game win streak matches Elmira’s longest of the season.
Must-Win Game
Elmira’s three-game win streak has improved their conference record to 7-7, just a half-game behind Ithaca, who is 8-7, for the fourth, and final, Empire 8 playoff spot. A win tonight moves EC into fourth in the conference standings with one game to play, while a loss would eliminate the Soaring Eagles from postseason contention.
Career-High for Henderson
Justin Henderson ’16 was just about lights out against Houghton College on Tuesday, hitting 8-of-10 from behind the arc. The eight made three-pointers matches his career-high, which he set in an overtime victory over Clarkson University on December 5th. His hot shooting led to a career-high 29 points, five better than his previous high of 24.
Top-10 in a Season
Henderson’s eight three-pointer performance placed his 2014-15 season amongst one of the best shooting seasons in EC history. He has now made 62 three-pointers, tying Reed Vanderlyke ’04 for 10th most in a single season.
