Last Time Out
A late comeback fell just short for EC in their most recent game as the Soaring Eagles fell at Nazareth College, 77-69. Neil Randolph ’15 and Oladapo Badmos ’17 paced the Purple and Gold with 23 and 19 points, respectively, but Elmira could not slow down the Golden Flyers as Nazareth shot 57.1 percent from the floor and 60.0 percent from three-point range.
20-Plus for Randolph
Neil Randolph ’15 scored 23 points against Nazareth on Tuesday, just one-point shy of his season high. This was the third time that Randolph had scored at least 20 points in a game this season, but just the first time that EC has lost when he has reached that scoring mark.
Second in the Empire 8
Neil Randolph ’15 was one of the best free throw shooters in the Empire 8 Conference a season ago and that has not changed in 2014-15, ranking second in the conference free throw percentage. Randolph is getting to the line more frequently over the last five games, averaging 5.8 attempts per contest, and has raised his free throw percentage to 82.9 percent on the season after shooting nealry 90 percent over that span.
Going for the Sweep
It had been nine seasons since EC had swept a season-series against an Empire 8 opponent prior to last season, but the Soaring Eagles accomplished that feat twice in 2013-14, beating Utica College and Houghton College twice each. The Purple and Gold have an opportunity to make it consecutive years with season sweeps of the Pioneers as EC concludes the season series at Utica on Friday. Elmira defeated the Pioneers, 75-64, at home on January 9th.
