Game Notes Last Time Out: Elmira erupted offensively against Fredonia State as the Soaring Eagles defeated the Blue Devils, 7-2. Andrew Ciampichini ’15 led the Soaring Eagles offensively with two goals and an assist while Sal Magliocco ’17 made 43 saves in net for the Purple and Gold. EC’s seven goals eclipses their previous season-high of four, which had been done three separate times this season. Special Teams Seal The Win: In the 7-2 win against Fredonia State, Elmira went 2-for-5 on the power-play and went 5-of-6 on the penalty kill. To add to the two extra-man goals, EC also scored two shorthanded goals in the victory. This is the first time EC’s special teams have scored four goals since January 12th, 2013 when Elmira scored four powerplay goals in a 9-4 win over Morrisville State. Coach Aaron Saul ’98: With a win over Fredonia State, the sixth-year head coach at Elmira College has upped his career win total to 99, one win away from the 100-win milestone. 80 of Coach Saul’s career wins have occurred during his tenure with the Soaring Eagles. Looking Ahead: Elmira will be back in action tomorrow, December 6th when the EC men take on Wesleyan University at the First Area in Elmira, NY at 3:00 p.m.

Game Notes A Look At Nazareth: The Golden Flyers enter the weekend with a 4-4-2 overall record and a 3-1-1 mark inside the ECAC West Conference. Nazareth is coming off a 1-1 overtime tie against SUNY Geneseo. Don Olivieri ’16 and Ben Blasko ’17 lead the Golden Flyers offensively with nine points apiece this season. Between the Pipes: Ed Zdolshek ’16 has played in all but two games in net this season for Nazareth. In seven apperances, he is 4-2-1 and has made 207 saves. Sweeping ECAC West Weekly Awards: On November 24th, Nazareth swept all three major ECAC West Weekly Awards. Ed Zdolshek ’16 was named ECAC West Goalie of the Week, Domink Gabaj ’16 was named the ECAC West Player of the Week, and Oliver Janzen ’18 was tabbed as the ECAC West Rookie of the week. Series History: Elmira has competed against the Golden Flyers of Nazareth College three times each the past two seasons and has won each matchup against the ECAC West foe. The last time these two teams squared off was November 23rd of last season when Elmira won 3-2 at the Murray Athletic Center.

December 5th-7th -- Downtown Elmira Elmira College, the Elmira Jackals, and the City of Elmira have partnered to bring a Home for the Holidays event to Downtown Elmira. The three-day event will be full of hockey at all levels in addition to a number of other activities that will take place on North Main Street outside of the First Arena, including the Elmira tree-lighting ceremony at 5:00 p.m. Saturday evening. Both EC ice hockey teams will play at the First Arena over the course of the weekend with the men taking on Wesleyan University on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. and the women following against SUNY Potsdam on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Admission to all Elmira College games is free throughout the weekend.
