Last Time Out

Elmira erupted offensively against Fredonia State as the Soaring Eagles defeated the Blue Devils, 7-2. Andrew Ciampichini ’15 led the Soaring Eagles offensively with two goals and an assist while Sal Magliocco ’17 made 43 saves in net for the Purple and Gold. EC’s seven goals eclipses their previous season-high of four, which had been done three separate times this season.

Coach Aaron Saul ’98

Now in his sixth season at the helm of the Elmira College men’s ice hockey program, Coach Saul is sitting on 99 career wins, 80 of which have occurred during his tenure with the Soaring Eagles. Coach Saul is also one of just six coaches in EC program history, and one of just three coaches with multiple ECAC West Conference Tournament titles.

Special Teams Seal The Win

In the 7-2 win against Fredonia State, Elmira went 2-for-5 on the power-play and went 5-of-6 on the penalty kill. To add to the two extra-man goals, EC also scored two shorthanded goals in the victory. This is the first time EC’s special teams have scored four goals since January 12th, 2013 when Elmira scored four power-play goals in a 9-4 win over Morrisville State.

Back On Track

The Soaring Eagles snapped a three-game skid December 2nd when the EC men defeated Fredonia State, 7-2. Elmira’s record is now 3-41 overall and a 2-2-1 mark inside the ECAC West. In Elmira’s four losses this season, three have been by only one goal while the other was a two goal loss.
