Elmira enters the weekend series against Nazareth with a 9-6-3 overall record after splitting games with Manhattanville College. In game one against Manhattanville, the Soaring Eagles surrendered two goals in the final 11 seconds, resulting in a 3-1 loss. However, Elmira bounced back in game two to defeat the Valiants, 5-2, thanks to a career-high four-point effort by Tommy Sumi ’16.
Career-High for Sumi
In Elmira’s 5-2 win over Manhattanville, Tommy Sumi ’16 led the Soaring Eagles with a career-high four points on two goals and two assists. His previous career-high was three points, a total he has reached three times over his three-year career. Additionally, Sumi’s two-goal night also marked a career-high.
Career-High for ten Vaanholt
Jarryd ten Vaanholt ’16 was credited with three assists in Elmira’s 5-2 victory over Manhattanville. ten Vaanholt’s three helpers marks a career-high for the third-year talent. Additionally, ten Vaanholt becomes the fourth player this season to log three assists in a single game, the other three being Tommy Sumi ’16, Nick Owen ’17, and Greg Whittle ’16.
Alexander the Great
Second-year talent Alexander Taulien ’17 has been a steady contributor for Elmira this season, specifically on the power play. Taulien has scored six power-play goals, putting him in a six-way tie for fourth place in the nation in power-play goals.
