Opening Weekend
Elmira opened the 2015-16 campaign last week with a pair of ECAC West home games against Neumann University and Manhattanville College. Although Elmira scored seven goals over the two contests, the Soaring Eagles were beaten by both the Knights and Valiants at the Murray Athletic Center Ice Arena. Elmira’s 0-2 start is the program’s first since the 2011-12, a season that saw the Soaring Eagles receive an at-large bid into the NCAA Division III Men’s Ice Hockey Tournament.
Career Firsts for Atkins
Friday, November 13th, 2015 Utica Memorial Auditorium -- Utica, NY -- 7:00 p.m.
Rookie winger, Mitch Atkins ’19, has enjoyed a great individual start to his Elmira career. Atkins has scored a point in each of EC’s two games this year, tallying an assist in the season opener against Neumann before scoring his first collegiate goal against Manhattanville. With points in back-to-back games, Atkins becomes just the third rookie skater since 2005-06 to total at least one point in each of EC’s first two games of the season.
Sal with 40-Plus Saves Nazareth College GOLDEN FLYERS (0-1-2, 0-1-1 ECACW)
Third-year netminder, Sal Magliocco ’17, made 42 saves in EC’s season opening game against the Knights. He has seven career 40-plus save games under his belt, but last Friday marked just the second time he has taken a loss when stopping 40 or more shots (5-2-0).
