Another Comeback
The Soaring Eagles came from behind to defeat SUNY Geneseo on Friday for their second comeback win in as many tries. EC erased a 1-0 first-period deficit with three unanswered goals over the next period and a half of play to take a commanding 3-1 lead and held on for the 3-2 win. Friday’s win marked the first time in 2014-15 that the Purple and Gold came out victorious while trailing following the first period of play.
Collins Named ECAC West Player of the Week
Michael Collins ’16, in his first action since November 29th, made his presence well-known last week, recording a total of five points against Buffalo State, SUNY Geneseo, and The College at Brockport. He scored three goals and added two assists, taking home ECAC West Co-Player of the Week honors.
How ten Vaanholt Ranks in the Nation
Jarryd ten Vaanholt ’16 is averaging 1.38 points per game this season. This not only leads the team and the ECAC West Conference in points per contest, but it also ranks ten Vaanholt 16th in the nation. The junior also sits 14th in the country in assists per game, coming in at 0.92 per contest.
Getting Goals on Penalty Kill
Tommy Sumi ’16 and Andrew Ciampichini ’15 each scored shorthanded goals last week, doing so in back-to-back games. The last time the EC men recorded shorthanded goals in consecutive games occurred last season when Josh Burnell’15 scored shorthanded goals in back-to-back games against Neumann University on January 24th and 25th. Overall, Elmira has three shorthanded goals in their last four games and six total shorthanded goals on the season.
