Game Notes Last Time Out: Elmira is coming off an 84-69 loss to Clarkson University on December 6th. The Purple and Gold trailed by just one point with 8:25 left in the game, however, the Golden Knights would close on a 19-4 run to finish the game. Welcome Back Alex: The best returning offensive option from the 2013-14 season returned to the court against Clarkson on December 6th. Balara led the Soaring Eagles with career-night. Balara scored a career-high 24 points and tied a career-high five steals, she now has six games in her career with five steals. Two Players With 20-Plus: Adding to Balara’s 24 points against Clarkson was Danielle Cleary ’18 who also scored the most points of her career with 21 points. This is the first time the Purple and Gold have had two players turn in 20-plus point performances since former standouts Jessica Zoltowski ’14 and Maria Thannhauser ’14 both poured in 22 points against St. John Fisher College on December 7th, 2012.

Game Notes Potsdam So Far: The Bears of Potsdam enter the weekend with a 1-6 overall record and a 0-2 mark inside the State University of New York Athletic Conference. The Bears have lost four straight games, most recently a 77-33 loss against St. Lawrence University. Last Time Out: In Potsdam’s 77-33 loss to St. Lawrence University, the Bears were led by Carli Reynolds ’15 who dropped 12 points, three rebounds and a steal. Bailey Weigel ’15 pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds and added eight points, three blocks, an assist, and a steal. Scouting the Bears: Bailey Weigel ’15 is averaging a doubledouble with 12.3 points a game, and 10.0 rebounds a game. Carli Reynolds ’15 also averages double-digit scoring with 11.6 points a game while Colleen McNamara ’15 has set up the offense, leading the team in assists with 3.1. Strength on the Road: The Bears are 1-0 while playing on opponent’s home courts this season. In the 2013-14 season Potsdam was stronger on the road as well, going 4-9 versus a 2-8 record at home. First-Time Matchup: For the first time in over 13 years Elmira will compete against SUNY Potsdam. This is the fourth time this season that EC has gone up against a team they had not previously seen during that time, the Purple and Gold have gone 2-1 in those games.
