Game Notes Special Teams on Display: EC’s power-play and penalty-kill units put on a show at the Stafford Ice Arena over the weekend, scoring four total goals while limiting Plattsburgh to just two power-play goals in nine chances. Elmira maintained their ranking as the second-best power-play team in the nation, converting at a 31.6 percent rate, and moved into a tie for first nationally with six shorthanded goals. A Single-Season Record for Hogan: Ashton Hogan ’15 provided two momentum-shifting goals in Sunday’s 6-2 victory over Plattsburgh, both of the shorthanded variety. Hogan’s pair of shorthanded goals were the fourth and fifth of her season, giving her the new Elmira College single-season record for shorthanded goals scored. All-Time Series: EC and Buffalo State have met 33 times since the 2001-02 season with Elmira holding a 32-1-0 advantage in the all-time series. The Bengals upended the Soaring Eagles, 4-3 in overtime, in the 2010-11 season, but EC has won each of the six matchups since.

Game Notes One of the Best: The 2014-15 edition of Buffalo State women’s ice hockey could go down as one of the best teams in program history. The Bengals have already tripled their win total from a season ago and need just two wins in the final weeks of the season to tie the program-high for wins in a season, which was accomplished back in 2000-01. Second Only to Hogan: Buffalo State’s Kara Goodwin ’15 has been a steady source of goals since transferring from Lindenwood University three years ago and this season is no different. Goodwin leads the Bengals with 20 goals and is second only to EC’s Ashton Hogan ’15 on the national leaderboards for goals. Freshman Impact: The Bengals have relied heavily on their large freshmen class this season, which features 10 skaters and two goaltenders. Behind Goodwin in the scoring column, who is leading Buffalo State with 25 points, are four freshmen, Erin Gehen ’18, Christine Harris ’18, Brooke Krantz ’18, and Bri Carroll ’18. That quartet has tallied 18, 15, 14, and 13 points, respectively, combining for 18 goals and 42 assists. Additionally, rookie goaltender Justine Silva ’18 has been the Bengals’ primary netminder this season, playing in 17 of 19 games, making 400 saves, and posting a 2.79 goals against average.
