EC first used two first-period goals to down the Panthers, 4-1, but fell victim to three unanswered third-period Plattsburgh goals in their 4-2 defeat to the Cardinals. Fourth Time in Program History: For the fourth time in Elmira College women’s ice hockey history, EC has opened a season with seven wins in their first eight games. The previous three seasons that this has occurred were 2001-02, 2002-03, and 2012-13, all of which were national championship seasons for the Purple and Gold. Defensive Duo: Brooke Wilgosh ’15 and Phoebe Piku ’16 have spearheaded Elmira’s attack from the blue line this season, leading EC’s defenders, and tying for third in overall scoring, with nine points apiece. Additionally, the duo ties for third nationally in points per game from defensemen, averaging 1.12 points per game.

Leading the Pack: Sophomore talent Jordan Ott ’17 is leading the Bears offensively, scoring seven points on four goals and three assists. Behind Ott is Izzy Fayerman ’15, who has four points on two goals and two assists, followed by a trio of players with two points apiece in Roberta Beatty ’17, Amanda Peterson ’17, and Lynette Kryminski ’18. Series History: EC and SUNY Potsdam have squared-off 13 times since SUNY Potsdam introduced their women’s ice hockey program in the 2008-09 season. The Soaring Eagles hold a 12-1-0 in the series history, including victories in each of the last four meetings. Familiar Face: For the second consecutive home series, EC’s opposition will feature an Elmira alum on the team bench. Jay Green ’80 is in his eighth season as the head coach of the SUNY Potsdam Bears and is the only coach in Potsdam women’s ice hockey history. Green was a four-year member of the men’s ice hockey team and made two trips to the NCAA Tournament Semifinals while at Elmira.

December 5th-7th -- Downtown Elmira Elmira College, the Elmira Jackals, and the City of Elmira have partnered to bring a Home for the Holidays event to Downtown Elmira. The three-day event will be full of hockey at all levels in addition to a number of other activities that will take place on North Main Street outside of the First Arena, including the Elmira tree-lighting ceremony at 5:00 p.m. Saturday evening. Both EC ice hockey teams will play at the First Arena over the course of the weekend with the men taking on Wesleyan University on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. and the women following against SUNY Potsdam on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Admission to all Elmira College games is free throughout the weekend.
