First Win of the Season

The Soaring Eagles snapped a two-game losing streak by collecting the Purple and Gold’s first win of the young season against Centenary College at the University of Dallas Tip-Off on Saturday, November 22nd. Danielle Cleary ’18 led EC with 17 points, five rebounds, four assists, and a steal.

Two-Time Rookie of the Week

For the second straight week Danielle Cleary ’18 has been named the Empire 8 Rookie of the Week in recognition of her strong play last week. In the two games at the University of Dallas Tip-Off Classic, Cleary averaged 14.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.5 steals.

Back-To-Back Rookie of the Week

Danielle Cleary ’18 also becomes the first player in the Empire 8 Conference to win back-to-back Empire 8 Rookie of the Week accolades since Lindey Kelly of Nazareth College recieved the award on January 21st, 2013 and January 28th, 2013.

Taking Control

With 2:31 left in regulation time against Centenary College of Louisiana, the Soaring Eagles had a 18-point lead. This is the largest lead the EC women have had at any point in a game since February 4th, 2014 when the Purple and Gold had a 21-point lead against Alfred University with 5:25 remaining in the second half.

Coming off the Bench

Madison Carolus ’18 scored 15 points off the bench against Centenary College. This is the most points an Elmira player has scored off the bench since Jessica Zoltowski ’14 scored 16 on November 19th, 2011 against Case Western University.

Jessica Brooks ’16 scored 12 points and added three rebounds against the University of Dallas on Friday, November 21st. The 12 points is a new career-high for Brooks, eclipsing a previous career-high of nine set on February 15th, 2013.

Second Chance Points

Against Centenary College of Louisiana, Elmira recorded 13 second chance points. This is the most the EC women have tallied since posting the same amount on November 17th, 2013 against Emerson College.

Four Players In Double-Digits

In the 73-64 win over Centenary College of Louisiana, EC had four players record double-digit scoring. Danielle Cleary ’18 dropped 17 points, Madison Carolus ’18 put up 15 points, Meghan Loya ’16 produced 14 points, and Karli Pochkar ’16 posted 12 points in the win. Plenty of Depth

Elmira scored 19 points off the bench against Centenary College on Saturday, November 22nd. This is the most bench points scored since the Purple and Gold matched that amount on January 20th, 2014 in the 5038 win over Penn State Abington.

Cleary Leading The Purple and Gold

Danielle Cleary ’18 has averaged 14.0 points a game this season, leading the Soaring Eagles in scoring. She also shares the lead, with Meghan Loya ’16, in blocked shots per game with 1.0.

Cleaning Up the Boards

Meghan Loya ’16 continues to control the glass this season. In both games at the Dallas Tip-Off Classic, Loya led the Purple and Gold in rebounds with nine apiece. She is averaging 11.7 boards a game and ranks second in the Empire 8 Conference in rebounding.

Cleary Double-Digit Streak

Danielle Cleary ’18 has begun her rookie campaign dropping double digits in each of the three games the Purple and Gold have competed in this season. She is the first rookie to open the season with three-straight double-figure scoring games since Jessica Zoltowksi ’14 did it in 2010-11.

Unfamiliar Territory

For the third game in a row, Elmira will compete against an opponent they have not faced in recent history. The EC women will take on Hilbert College for the first time ever, the Purple and Gold are 1-1 against teams they have not previously faced this season.

Scouting Hilbert

The Hawks of Hilbert College will enter today’s matchup with a 0-1 record, falling 67-56 to Geneva College of Pennsylvania. Leading the Hawks YouTube offensively are Markayla Feaster and Amber Hay. Feaster scored 13 points www.youtube.com/ECSportsInfo against Geneva while Feaster dropped 11.
