Home Opening Victory
The EC women are coming off a 78-55 victory over Keystone College in their first home contest of the season. The 23-point spread was the largest margin of victory for the EC women since November 25, 2012 when Elmira defeated Wells College 70-47.
Zoltowski’s Double-Double
In the win over Keystone Jessica Zoltowski ’14 led the Soaring Eagles with her first double-double of the season. She had come close to a double-double in each game so far this season, but was unable to reach that mark since the last game of the 2012-13 season when she posted 32 points and 10 rebounds against Utica College.
Double Digits
Meghan Loya ’16 and Maria Thannhauser ’14 also scored in doubledigits in the win against Keystone. Loya finished the game with 14 points, scoring seven in both halves, while Thannhauser dropped 11 points in the victory
Points In the Paint
34 of the 78 points scored against Keystone came inside the paint. This is the most points scored inside by an EC women’s team since the 38 paint points against Hartwick College January 29th of the 2009-10 season.
Third All-Time
Zoltowski’s 28 points against Keystone moved her up to third alltime in Elmira College history in career points (1,158). She is now 44 points from second place and 299 from first place. If she continues to average 19.0 points per game, she is on track to take the record in 16 games.
