Game Notes Last Time Out: After a pair of close calls to start the season, the Soaring Eagles broke into the win column in their previous game against SUNY Potsdam, shutting out the Bears, 2-0. Courtney Burgazli ’16 and Mackenzie Donohue ’15 each scored for the Purple and Gold, Burgazli in the 43rd minute to give EC the lead and Donohue in the 85th minute to seal the Elmira victory. First Start, Great Result: Amanda Banner ’17 received her first start in net of the 2014 season and did not disappoint, helping EC to a 2-0 shutout victory over SUNY Potsdam. Banner made three saves on the evening to record her third career shutout. EC vs. The Liberty League: The Soaring Eagles have often squared-off with opponents from the Liberty League, having mild success against their competition over the last five years. EC has posted a 2-11-2 record against Liberty League foes following Elmira’s season-opening tie against Bard College, their other tie in that span coming against Clarkson in 2012 on Campus Field. Looking Ahead: The Purple and Gold have a short turnaround as they return to the pitch tomorrow, Saturday, September 13th when they take on another Liberty League opponent in St. Lawrence University at 4:00 p.m.

The one tie on their record came against the Soaring Eagles in 2012. Two Wins, Two Shutouts: Clarkson has two wins on the season and both have been shutouts. The Golden Knights opened the 2014 season with a 1-0 shutout overtime victory over Colby Sawyer College before last Sunday’s 2-0 win over SUNY Potsdam.
